Most Comfortable Controller

I find most competent modern controllers fine, but least comfortable let me present the faster blaster

And let me tell you, it will not let you blaster faster

I don't get how Switch Pro Controller is more comfortable than Xbox controller... I mean, it's my controller for everything now but I think it lacks the bigger handlers that the Xbox controller has... Everything else is perfect anyway

Off the top of my head,

Dual Shock 2
Wii U gamepad
Sega Saturn (japanese)
SNES

IMO though, hands down the most comfy controller ever is the PS5 dualsense. That thing is pure perfection as far as I'm concerned.

By far my favorite. It's like 8BitDo made it for my hands specifically, and the back buttons are a godsend for sprinting + camera controls in Souls games and how clicking the sticks in on any controller is painful due to my line of work.

Other shout outs go to the Nintendo Pro Controller, Dualsense 4, and the Xbox 360 controller.

For big hands who want big and heavy stuff the most comfy i had lately was the nacon revolution pro 2 with all the mini-weights inside.

Worse probably one between ds4 or the fucking joy cons, the xone pad is decent but the build quality was pretty shit compared to the x360 pad.

Ds5 was a nice surprise except the gimmicks and battery life and the switch pro controller felt like i wasted 60 dollars.

Steam controller was nice for like the first 10 min and then never touched again.

Saturn Pad: No analog control
PSX until DS4: not enough resistance on the sticks
Dreamcast: only one stick
GameCube: weird button layout
Cd32: lol...

Best for 3d:
Xsx controller

Best for 2d:
SNES controller EU version

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
Xbox controllers have always been the most universally comfortable in my opinion. There's a reason why the Dualsense was designed to be more like the Xbox controllers. Though I do have 2 complaints: the D-pad and asymmetrical sticks. If we could have a fusion of Xbox size, comfort and trigger buttons as well as Dualsense D-pad and sticks, that would be amazing.
But asymmetrical sticks is a part of the comfort tho.

The Z button and the d-pad are a crime against humanity, but fuck me if it just doesn't fit perfectly in my hands.
gamecube controller just fits right into your hands and feels right.
GameCube controller was probably the most comfortable. The form factor in your hands was great
Active GOATs:
1. Xbox Series controller
2. GameCube controller.
For comfort the Gamecube controller with my big ass hands.

From a functionality pov with 3D videogames I still feel like that controller doesn’t exist yet especially with comfort; To solve the functionally problem I’m still clawing to cook people on console in multiplayer videogames.

Z-trigger. . . C- stick.... D-pad...

C'mon guys.

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
Haven't really disliked any controllers across multiple platforms because they were at the time state of the art and felt fine.

Most got better, some were lost in time. Good thing 8bitdo (among others) exist.

Shout out to GC, Dual Shock 4, Series S, Switch Pro and the 8bitdo Xbox.

ATT NES and SNES as well
Oh and I liked the Vectrex one

Dislike;

GC Chainsaw controller
Switch joypads (multiple reasons)
N64..... yeah...

At first the dualsense feels almost just like the ds4. Maybe a little better. After a long (like marathon) it starts to feel a little uncomfortable. I don't thins the ds4 did that.

The switch pro feels wonderful to fondle but I hardly ever get to use it so I don't really know. I'd try it on pc but it wants to disconnect all the time.

Comfort wise for me it's the Switch pro controller, followed by the Xbox One controller (haven't tried series S/X) and then the DualSense.

Features wise I love the DualSense but I have small hands and it feels just a little bit big for me.
All 3 are pretty damn good though. I'd like to try an Elite v2 but that price tag is a big oof.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
You rarely used the z trigger, c stick was fine, d pad was trash but you never used it anyway, except for the GBP but it was the same one on the GBA.
Agree with you mate. Only game that made me wish for a better d-pad was Capcom vs SNK 2, with any other game it does it's job just fine.

1. PS4
- Better than the bulky PS5 pad.

2. Sega megadrive 6 button
- I only have experience with first gen UK Saturn pad which was ass! Something about SEGA's Dpad and face buttons that just felt right. I hate playing SEGA games on another main console's pad.

3. Xbox 360
- Best XB pad ever!

I hated the DualSense at first, the handles were so different from the DS4 it was hard to adjust.

And I still hated it until they stealth updated the handles *just enough* for me. The newer Dualsense revision with the "A" at the end of the model number has ever so slightly adjusted handles (slightly fatter) that it fixed my complaint.

Nothing will ever top the Xbox Series Controller for me, that controller is gold- i'm looking to get an Elite controller so i can have an even BETTER experience
A close second is the 8bitdo SN30 pro plus. that thing basically fits so well into my hands, it's like heaven. and it DOES have gyro which is real useful. Only issue is that it uses the dreaded playstation thumbstick layout which sucks ass, and the dpad is uhh.... not the best, lol
The dualshock 2 is a not very distant third- i like how big and meaty the thumbsticks are, they're larger than the upper 2, and the controller feels really slim and comfortable to play with. the lack of analog triggers is awful though and the pressure sensitive buttons can cause inputs to fuck up sometimes, also symmetrical thumbsticks which is lame as fuck

Series and Dualsense are equally comfy to me. I switch back and forth with no issues.

DualShock 3 was the worst 😆
I was on a massive retro gaming binge in 2021, and i bought a LOT of retro consoles, i got a PS2 first, expecting to hate the DualShock 2 controller but ended up really liking it
i then proceeded to get a PS3 a few months later, and the moment i gripped that dualshock 3 i violently convulsed on the floor and died. HOW DO YOU FUCK UP SO BADLY FROM THE DS2. It's not awful, there's certainly worse (like the joycons or Duke) but my god this feels awful to use.

this is the most comfortable controller ever made and you can't convince me otherwise.
not only is the right stick in a more comfortable and ergonomic position, the handles also have a really nice shape

ghIimkcJ6QhgXb4s

the only big issues were
1: no analog triggers
and
2: an awful D-Pad that was far too shallow, on a sloped surface and had double input issues like the Switch Pro Controller

so you didn't have a PS3 then I guess :messenger_tongue:

EXACTLY! my hands hurt like a motherfucker whenever me and my squad play a longer session of Apex Legends ranked... that never happened on the DS4. it's the handles, they are so weirdly shaped on the DualSense, they curve inward on the bottom and are weirdly thick

I actually like 360 wired pad for some reason (other than D pad, which is quite shit)

fkxOWiW.jpg

I think it's more comfortable than Xbox Series X pad. Since I skipped Xbox One, I don't know what it feels like - but I prefer 360 pad over Series X, as far as comfort is concerned.
Dual shocks are okay - but I do prefer the locations of analog sticks of Xbox and Switch Pro ones. It looks better, but sometimes the look and comfort don't go together.
And DS5 is probably the best one so far for PS controller.

A controller is like a nice new pair of shoes. You just need some time with it. Your muscles will adjust and your Hand won’t cramp.

The Series X controller is quite comfortable especially due to its smaller size. But I found it's trigger vibration thingy to be really jarring to my fingers. I try to turn down vibration levels whenever I could find the option on PC.

I think the Xbox series shape is a bit more ergonomic than 360, but overall I really, really preferred the 360 controller too, because Xbox Series controller has so many issues it's unbelievable.

I hate how loud the Series controller is, from of course the clicky dpad, but also the sticks when they hit the edges, it's a very... unpleasant feeling / sound, because it feels like hard plastic against hard plastic, while on xbox 360 it felt softer and it wasn't as loud. Everything on the Xbox Series is also super inconsistent, like that stick noise is extremely worse on some specific sides, it's random depending on the controller, same for the spring noise that these new stick make etc...
I just really hate the amount of problems on this controller, making it in the end a not comfortable experience, even if the ergonomics are good.

Honestly, I really like the PS5 controller. The Xbox series X controller is a close second. just like the PS5 thumbs placement more.

It’s because of the Dualsense’s weight distribution and the resistance in the triggers, also too much rumbling can be fatiguing over time, it can lead to a medical condition called Raynaud's phenomenon which people using jack hammer or driving vehicles with too much vibration transferred through the steering wheel get. It’s a slow burn type thing that is hard to diagnosis once you get it, also hard to treat.

I'm not too worried about jackhammer disease. The rumble effects are incredible. But I as of a few years ago, my right index finger is now easy to strain and inflame. So I can't really enjoy the triggers as much. I can turn the strength down and I don't think any of the effect is lost. They are surprisingly strong. Depending on the type of game tho, I might have to turn them right off.

Ugh how i screwed up my finger. For a minute there I decided I was done with fight sticks. I had always played on them. How nice it would be to be a pad player. So I played on pad for a couple years there. It was clunky but very quiet and convenient and not $150. The last I played, it was really too hot out so I decided to stay in, daydrink, and play guilty gear on a controller. Hours of that shit and I was feelin it. Popping off and yelling and shit. Really fun. But then the next day my finger and forearm were fucked for weeks and never fully recovered. So now if theres some spammy button on the right shoulders, I'll remap it. And I bought a joystick again which is perfectly comfortable to pound on.

Watch out for your hands! You don't have rsi until you do!

360 controller hands down. Perfect size, smooth, shoulder/trigger buttons are good and the layout of the sticks and face buttons is perfect.

The natural layout of Xbox gamepads is LS with left thumb and face button functions with right thumb. Unless you are playing a game with lots of RS cam moving, that is the perfect layout.

Since just about every game now uses LS for moving a character or steering, the LS with natural left thumb positioning is the correct layout.

Dual sense is over rated, battery life isn’t that great, the haptics wear out quickly, and the USB charging port gets damaged easily so you have to kind of angle the wire in to get it to charge or lean it against something.

Switch pro is nice, but as others have mentioned it’s rather light, no weight to it

Xbox pc controller (based on the Xbox one controller) has great weight and is mostly pretty durable, but the left bumper must be pressed from directly above, angled inputs sometimes won’t fully make contact.

My favorite was the Wii U pro controller. Durable, good weight, 80 hour battery life, excellent d pad, good spacing on the buttons.

Series controller. Every time I use the PS5 controller it stings that the thing costs over 70 bucks. Also it isn't very comfortable worrying about the shitty battery life.
