Batgirl Will Not Be Released In Theaters Or On HBO Max As Warner Bros. Scraps Completed $90 Million Movie

KyoZz

Tag, you're it.

Yes, you read that correctly; the Batgirl movie that was set to be released exclusively on HBO Max will no longer see the light of day after Warner Bros. has chosen to ditch the completed blockbuster...

Batgirl-leslie-grace.jpg

Earlier today, The New York Post ran a story claiming Batgirl has been shelved by Warner Bros. Citing a $70 million budget that ballooned to upwards of $100 million, the site (that peddles an awful lot of unfounded gossip) claimed a source told them, "they think an unspeakable 'Batgirl' is going to be irredeemable."

Most fans dismissed this as a bogus report, especially after recent chatter that Batgirl was being eyed for a theatrical release. While the movie has been caught up in the issues surrounding The Flash, it boasts a lead star in the talented Leslie Grace and an ensemble that includes J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Michael Keaton as Batman.

While we thought Batgirl having to come out after The Flash was its biggest issue (in order for Keaton's presence to make sense), The Wrap has now chimed in to confirm this DC Comics movie will never see the light of day.

"Warner Bros Discovery is “committed to making DC titles big theatrical event films, and ‘BATGIRL’ isn’t that.”

I'm sorry for those who wanted to see this. Never been interested in this and I always though it looked meh at best but still, that sucks.
It is time to stop all this nonsense and FINALLY restore the SnyderVerse.

It's trending on Twitter...

Let's hope they wont be called "toxic fans".

What is wrong with DC lol? I don't watch most of this super hero shit cause it puts me to sleep but it seems like they can't do anything right.

All fucking insiders must fucking hang.

However, notable scooper Big Screen Leaks responded to the report by simply replying "Me when I lie," potentially casting doubt on the outlet's information.

Hunter Bolding of That Hashtag Show echoed those sentiments by indicating that it "smells like bullshit," looking back to how he's reported similar news before:

"This smells like bullshit, and I’ve reported on DC shelving movies before."

Discussing Film editor-in-chief Jacob Fisher bluntly said that anybody who believes news like this is "out of [their] mind:"

"You’ve got to be absolutely out of your mind if you believe this is true. Stop falling for such callous bait."

Insider KC Walsh shared the article and noted how "obvious" it was that the story was completely made up:

"Again if you actually read the Post article it’s obvious it’s fabricated"

The Hollywood Reporter's Richard Newby asked how fans could take this report seriously considering where it came from:

"Y’all taking the NY Post’s fabricated bullshit seriously? Nah."

Fandom's Eric Goldman also debunked the report by noting that Warner Bros avoided promoting any of its post-2022 DC movies at San Diego Comic-Con, indicating that The Post used unreliable "proof" in its report:

"I have no idea if there's anything true about quality concerns but simply don't believe this won't be released and at least one bit of 'proof' they use (no mention by WB at SDCC) is ridiculous since WB didn't promote ANY post-2022 DC movie, including Aquaman, Flash or Blue Beetle"

Grace Randolph being a complete retard as always:

Insider Grace Randolph shared how difficult it is "to get out of contracts" with regard to these kinds of releases, sharing in the opinion that the report is bogus:
"I heard this is NOT true, As someone who has said in the past that movies should be scrapped, I hear it's EXTREMELY difficult to get out of contracts / etc which is why stuff like The New Mutants got released"

KC Walsh was going around trying to claim that Hailee Steinfeld wasn't cast as Kate Bishop and it'd be an unknown...less than a month before the first set photos of her came out:

Most of those people you quoted just spend all day shitting on other sites on their Twitter out of petty jealousy.

It must be really awful if they’re willing to throw away 100 million.

Nah the test screenings were going well (Pheiffer is the Catwoman in the rebooted universe where Keaton is now Batman), and Brenden Fraser is Firefly in it. They kept the same Gordon from BVS/JL as well.

From the THR article:
Insiders say that big budget films made directly for streaming no longer financial make sense under the company’s new strategy. In June, Zaslav tapped MGM’s Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy to run Warners, replacing Toby Emmerich.

Basically Discovery is cancelling any big budget movie that was direct to streaming.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Hmmm.... Michael Keaton was supposed to be in this Batgirl movie and now we know that Ben Affleck is back as Batman in the forthcoming Aquaman movie.

Coincidence? I think not.

Affleck is back because originally Aquaman was releasing AFTER The Flash and the Batman cameo was Keaton. Now Aquaman is releasing BEFORE The Flash so they're re-filming the cameo with Affleck because Keaton would make no sense.

Imagine making a movie so fucking terrible they don't even want to upload it onto their own streaming service.

I mean holy shit, pumping it on to HBO Max must cost a nickle and a dime and they still don't want to.

This is so crazy. DC is so fucked.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a first? I've never heard of a film being completed and then scrapped.

The Corman Fantastic Four movie in 1994 was completed, scrapped, and then Avi Arad burned the original negative.

If they waste that much of money and still don't wanna release it anywhere, that means its really really bad.
Man, where do they find those people to make such terrible movies?

This is a good sign to be honest. DC films has had terrible management and now due to the Discovery merger the shake up in leadership with David Zaslav and Alan Horn things are changing. It can't possibly get worse. Apparently they scrapped a ton of garbage internally.

As for this individual film it's probably smart either way. now there's a bit of curiosity that people will want to watch it since people want what they can't have. They'll shelve it for now but it will have some value otherwise this would have released and no one would have gave a shit. If it sucks they can be like I told you so and easily say it's not canon.

I dont know how many superhero movies and TV series there have been the past 20 years, but its got to be like 50.

At some point, even Dazzler will get a hollywood spotlight.

By all accounts it seems to have been an utter fucking disaster of a movie, and Zaslav doesn’t want to send good money after bad.

Man, that must of been extra trash to not even release the movie on thier OWN streaming service. Lmao.
I was thinking the same. If it's done, why not just show it and hook in more subbers. There's got to be a slew of people being enticed by a Batgirl movie.

They probably analyzed the film and determined the subs would drop as it's that bad. lol

The garbage fire that started with Snyder six years ago, continues to limp on with this latest disaster.

How long will they continue to prop up this failed, idiotic DCEU venture?

Just let Matt Reeves do Superman after his Batman trilogy and establish the Reeves-verse. He was WB's choice for MoS before Snyder (but he wanted Batman) and WB wanted him to do Batman so bad they allowed him to do War for the Planet of the Apes first just to keep him.

Yeah it's absolutely not because the movie is shit. Riiiiiight....
I mean, that's the comic suit.

Yep, I maintain you are trying too hard.

Annnnnd of course it's the fault of Snyder. You know one day you will need to let it go, you can't blame the guy for everything.

Just let Matt Reeves do Superman
Henry Cavill + Mcquarrie. That's it. Keep Matt Reeves away please, let him play with Patman, it's already enough.
