They make one Bond movie like every 5 years. It's not like Cavill won't have time to work on other projects. Also, in the climate that we're in now, I'm not 100% convinced that they'll cast a straight, white male as the next Bond.

Hate to be mean but I'm supposed to be splashing around in my own tears for multi-millionaire A list or otherwise previously A list actors who got this scrapped? Didn't Keaton basically just come out recently and said he's never watched a superhero movie because it's a waste of time to him? Even the girl playing the race bent batgirl probably got multiple times my yearly salary for her work.
And on the flip side, I'm supposed to look at Discovery as a bunch of anti art meanies because they canned a movie written and shot as content fodder for a soulless streaming service in favor of focusing on grand cinematic experiences? Seriously?? The twitter outrage is so pathetic. The vocal minority is ridiculous. Nobody gave a fuck about the movie at all and now that it's cancelled you'd swear this was a Batman, Spider-Man, Avengers, Avatar 2 level tentpole blockbuster and not a little rinky dink cheap little side project. Good riddance. Who the fuck was asking for this movie? It would've flopped in theaters and on streaming maybe at best been the movie casuals check out the first 10 minutes of because "I'm mindlessly scrolling and they made a batgirl movie? Huh. *click*"

I keep thinking about this. How bad could the movie be that not only is WB willing to eat a 90 million dollar hit, but to announce that hit publicly and in full view of its investors.
With that much money and clout at stake I wouldn't be surprised if writers and producers start losing kneecaps in the coming weeks and months.

WB has no quarrels with releasing a bad movie (see: Birds of Prey). The issue is that it simply wasn't worth the time, effort, and money to finish Batgirl because reshoots (to fix the movie) and other post-production stuff costs even more money that they will never see again. After all, this movie was never intended to be a big money-maker like a theater release, it was intended to be an incentive to subscribe to HBO Max.

You keep repeating this as if it has ANY relevance AT ALL to how current casting would be.craig was bond for almost 20 years and only made 5 bond films. He was in several films that could have been big franchises had they been more successful, Broccoli can't lock down an actor from recurring roles for that long.
If they go back to 2-3 ,year releases maybe but I doubt it.

Bat keaton was such a terrible idea, dont get me wrong, i love batman 89, but saying “hey! Old ass michael keaton is gonna be the new batman in our connected universe!” Was an awful idea, and was clearly done out of desperation. Honestly? They should let reeves and phillips continue to make batman and joker films seperatley. But everything else should be scrapped and this whole thing needs to be rebooted. Give is a superman movie that executives actually have faith in to be the lynchpin of this universe like cavil should of been. And if all else fails, just fucking stop trying to make a connected universe like marvel and focus on high quality individual films like the batman
