Xenoblade Chronicles 3 |OT| To Guide The Dead is My Lot

I'm now 40 hours in, and in Chapter 4. Yes, I have been adventuring around the world looking for new sight so see (there are plenty of breathtaking vistas), and so far have been having fun. It has not yet reached the hights of 2, but I don't know if I'm even halfway through my journey yet. I feel like this will be a game I'll remember, even if it does not become a GOAT for me. That would be rather difficult, even.

The expressions are great, especially in that scene. When Mio is sad or worried in earlier scenes and her ears drop, its such a minor thing but it feels really well done.
Yeah the amount of detail they put towards character animation is simply amazing, this is one of the reason why it was right choice to go for Saito as artist for the series.

I'm done with the game and - without spoiling anything - I don't think it quite reaches the heights Xeno 2 did. I started playing thru 2 again for the 3rd time after beating 3 and I'm again floored by how amazing that game is, in spite of all the anime cheesiness.

I'm inclined to agree. Overall between all the Xenoblade Chronicles games I still place Xenoblade X as my favorite given the setting in it's entirety is the most intriguing primarily because it leaves a lot of questions that require answers.

Xenoblade 3 I feel wraps things up rather nicely but as a result doesn't reach the high points that Xeno 1, 2 or X do.

I do love the combat in XC3 though. It's pretty nice.

I’m currently in ch 6 and despite loving XC2 a lot (and still do) XC3 is definitely my favourite Xenoblade game.

My experience with XC3 so much smoother compare to previous games, I really enjoyed class system and the amount of variety gave me during the combat.

I also really love, LOVE the casts in XC3, its detail animation and fantastic expression really sold me on the emotion they feeling, especially in that prison scene.

Dude chapter 5 is going great. Went exploring off to the side and found a blocking accessory that was more than twice as good as the best one I'd found previously. And found a sidequest where Riku and Manana were upset because the monster in the quest is cuter than they are, lol

Chapter 4 was good too actually. It had a cool area where you can fight 2 unique monsters at a time and even 3 unique monsters at a time, intense

My level is out of control tho. I've been thinking about cancelling chain attacks after overkill to avoid bonus xp, although a big part of the fun is trying to get the highest amount of damage you can

My only two gripes with the game is the inability to level down at rest spots and I don't like the class inheritor system. The classes should be available to everyone as soon as made available. It's an unnecessary hurdle.

Currently focusing on quest that uncap the class max level. I really enjoy the quest because it's really varied and focused on relation between colonies
BTW, I currently only done Eunie side story, but still haven't found side story for other characters. I'm still at the beginning of chapter 6, just after the first battle. Can I do the side story quest for other characters?

Im at Chapter 5 now and loving it, only wish it wasn’t so easy to outscale enemies. If you do any amount of side quests or rare monsters you’ll be 5-7 levels above very quickly.

But I don’t think a JRPG has to be difficult to be good.

Depend on progression. A lot of them unlock aty chapter 6, some at chapter 7. Some require you to do more quest at the colony first. I also like the lvl 20 unlock quest as all of them are voiced.

But chain attack is also the fastest way to get cp.

I also love how each colonies have their own culture, I just found Colony 15, I did NOT expect that.

The world building in this game is phenomenal.

Did it not bother anyone else else that none of her supposed "friends" ever bothered telling Sena that her hair was on fire?
I assumed it was just kinda "accepted" that some folks from Agnus just had that kinda thing as a character trait. You got Cammuravi too with flaming hair and hand, Taions' bird, Nimue with her ice hands etc.

In the beginning Sena did comment on pattern on Lanz body and Lanz comment on Sena's core crystal.

oh, so basically just do more quest and it'll open right? I don't have to find a specific thing first? Because Eunie's quest was related to her previous life.

Yup, I'm also interested if they gonna expand Kite's story falling in love with Juniper from Zeon quest

I just want to say that not having any checkpoints in a final boss fight that’s as long as a full length movie is fucking bullshit and bad game design. I get that I can skip the cutscenes next times…but cmon….

Okay, just going to say it, but man, this game really went overboard with cutscenes.

I just finished chapter 5 and started chapter 6, and in the past 4 hours I've only touched my controller for maybe 30 minutes. To easily defeat a couple of enemies only to then get destroyed in the next cutscene and some walking scenes towards the next cutscene. At some point I just lost interest. I mean, I know there's a lot of emotional stuff going on, but pff... they couldve handled that a lot better. I still *like* the story and the game as it has a lot of good stuff going for it, but yeah, at this rate its not going to reach the heights of the previous 3 games for me personally.

For I have no issue with cutscenes because between each chapter I do A LOT of exploring and fighting unique monsters.

Just finished Chapter 5 as well, and while yes, the cut scenes were long, my goodness were they so good I didn't mind at all. Really got emotional there at parts. This game has really become a special one. And right now, it's a serious contender to knock Elden Ring off my top spot of the year. If the story continues to be this good in these last chapters, it might just do it.

Xenoblade series always had well directed cutscenes and this one is no different. Yes, they can get a tad long, but the direction and voice acting is so good it's difficult not to enjoy them.

I just entered Keves Castle in chapter 4. Though story is a breeze at this point since I have been exploring and doing side quests. I'm about 15 levels above the enemy now.

The character expression in this fantastic, I also enjoyed how they slightly move their eyes around even on normal conversation, it nice character detail I really appreciate.

Currently on Gray ascension quest. So cute lol
The side quests have been huge improvement from pervious games and I'm not just talking about Hero quests, even most of the standard quests have been entertaining so far.

Finally found a physical copy, so I’m at the beginning. What’s up with the Japanese translation? They put “damn” as “spark.” What a joke

Yup, even simple fetch quest have a story. Heck, even the collectopedia card have simple but good story

All curse words are changed lol. fuck is snuff. Even normal words also changed, second are translated as tick. The problem is that they use english localization for the japanese VO too. So the are some different meaning. My only problem is that when using auto forward for voiced text. They time the auto forward with the voice, but sometime the text is longer. Sometime I haven't enough time to read the text.

Yeah it's pretty great. Adds a big human element showing what the character is focusing on and can display emotions otherwise not present. You can see this sort of Dynamic in characters like Mio, Noah, N among others.

I hope they implement this detail in other Xeno games. Especially Xeno X if they ever give it a Definitive Edition.

How can you guys keep track of everything thats going on in a fight against alot of enemies :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I went to options and deactivated any number not done by my character, helps A LOT cleaning the screen. Also I just use 1 character and pray the AI will play good lol.

If that happens, I usually transform into Ouroboros when the fight starts and spam arts as much as possible to cut down the enemies number
For me the UI does good job showing what position I’m so I can do my positional arts no matter how busy it is.

Also its fun to use Yumsmith’s grenade and Full Metal Jaguar’s AOE attacks in the crowd.

UI is no problem, my problem is when someone is at half health and I want to heal them, I can't find them in the midst of the chaos lol
Oh yeah I agree with that, my solution is control the character with low health and move them to regenerate circle or close to healers so when they die healers can immediately bring them back.

Oh wow

wowowwow at the class called "soulhacker"

It's not just the way you get all those arts and how customizable they are even compared to the other classes, but the way you upgrade the arts is like how u fill out affinity charts to upgrade rare blades in xenoblade 2

So Soulhacker class is basically this game’s version of Poppi….interesting.

I see what u mean now. I got the day off work so gonna go crazy trying to pimp out this class.

Yeah, basically just like Poppi, Soulhackers can take any role as long as you have the arts and skills for it, same way you use manuals for Poppi in XC2.

But in XC3 its MUCH more straightforward how get those Arts/Skills for that class compare to how you need to grind XC2's tiger tiger mini game in XC2.

I remember when the soundtrack list for Pyra in Smash is revealed. Japanese fans said "it's trauma" when they hear Tiger Tiger lol

Ill say it again, I really wish the hero characters were playable, and given some other unique ability(aside from just chain attacks) to make up for the lack of fusion arts and Ouroboros. A lot of them are such likable characters and I hate that they’re mostly just used to gain their class and not even customizable. If nothing else, it would be fun to explore the worle as them.

Each Hero does get two hero quests that explore their characters further, I recently finished both Alexandria and Teach’s 2nd Hero quests and both have some dark past.
