FoH with this logic I guarantee you have a gaming PC. There are so many lies said on this forum for no reason. Noone in their right mind would be hyping up their platform of choice to be cannibalized by another platform. You are probably secretly praying Sony just goes 3rd party(which they most certainly will if they continue down this path) and release everything on the PC and says the hell with making meaningful hardware. Just say it with your chest instead of coming on here spewing obvious bs lol.

Speaking from pure logic, who would waste money on a Sony platform when you have a gaming PC or hell the steam deck and GeForce now/xcloud services ramping up when all of the games are coming to PC. The answer is only a fool,. You even eluded to it yourself in your post.
You know, this logic you and other people use are always contradictory.

When you say stuff like:
"Noone in their right mind would be hyping up their platform of choice to be cannibalized by another platform"
or
"who would waste money on a Sony platform when you have a gaming PC or hell the steam deck and GeForce now/xcloud services ramping up when all of the games are coming to PC. The answer is only a fool,."
What you're implying is that PC is inherently better than a ps5/console. That having one of those devices means you have no real reason to get a console besides exclusives.

Yet you also say stuff like:
"...release everything on the PC and says the hell with making meaningful hardware"
Which implies you believe there are inherently meaningful reasons to get a console like the ps5.

So which one is it? Do you believe consoles like ps5 inherently inferior to PCs and the likes? Or do you believe they have their own set of advantages? If its the latter, wouldn't that mean there is no real downside with these PC ports, since people will keep buying consoles for said advantages anyway?

Lol, how would this in any way shape or form cannibalize Playstation? How many people do you think primarily play on PC, but also buy the latest Playstation console solely to play exclusives? And if Sony had their own PC store they could make "the exact amount of money" from those players that they already do. Console sales are only serious profit drivers if they purchase tons of 3rd party games on the ecosystem to get their 30% cut. PC players aren't buying anything on Playstation except for games that aren't available on PC, so Sony wouldn't be getting those 30% sales, just the 100% they get from their 1st party games, which they'd also get if it were available on PC. Also as for your point on "who would buy a Playstation if you could play all their games on PC", well the answer is most people. Console gamers prefer to play on consoles same as PC players prefer to play on PC, it's why Xbox consoles still sell really well despite every Xbox 1st party game releasing Day 1 on PC for quite some time. And for that same reason PC players aren't mass migrating to Playstation 5 for their exclusives, in tons of cases they'd rather continue playing their other PC games than buy a PS5 simply to play 1-2 exclusives a year. And no, as a primary console gamer Sony going 3rd party would be very bad, as without Playstation/Xbox competition the console gaming landscape could go to hell real quick.

I'll put this real simple, I primarily play on Xbox, you can check my gamertag and achievements if you're so inclined. If I was some PC fanboy there'd be literally 0 reason for me to own an XSX let alone play it primarily. So go ahead and disagree with me if you want but no part of either post has been a lie by me

If I already own the game on PS4 or PS5, do I need to purchase the game separately to play it on PC, and vice versa?

Yes, the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are different products. It is currently not possible to purchase the PC version of a title and then play it on a PS4 or PS5 console, or vice versa.

Looks like cross buy is also coming.

So this kind of confirms uncharted will release this year and TLOU must be a 2023 release. Hopefully ports are better than spiderman or God of war.

Xbox games come to PC day one and the Series X is constantly sold out.

You people constantly overestimate the number of people who'd swap their $499 console for a $1000+ PC.

You truly see people hooking up their Steam decks to TVs to play PlayStation exclusives at much worse settings than on a console?

For me I will always have a monster PC and consoles mainly because I have been console gaming on both major platforms since they began and have made a lot of friends across all platforms

When I game with friends on a console we usually shut off cross play to avoid running into PC players

But most of my friends I play MP games with are mainly on Xbox and PC and I recently traded in a couple of my PS5s and the direction Sony is going I may soon be without a PS console all together and just play ‘‘em on PC

You are lucky and probably patient, to be able to obtain multiple PS5s. I think I actually dodged a bullet and your post highlights my own opinion on where I am going next in the hobby.
While I hate fucking launchers... I would be willing to accept a Sony launcher for their games, rather than buy hardware. I think the tradeoff is fair.

Unbelievable.....the length you just went with that strawman argument playing the compare and contrast between a 400 console and a 1k+ gaming PC. You might want to read my post again 👀.

I would go on another tangent but with questions like .....

"Do you believe consoles like ps5 inherently inferior to PCs and the likes? Or do you believe they have their own set of advantages? If its the latter, wouldn't that mean there is no real downside with these PC ports, since people will keep buying consoles for said advantages anyway?"

After clearing seeing me post that PEOPLE THAT ALREADY HAVE A GAMING PC would be stupid to not want every game on that platform no have no need to buy a ps5 but I'll let you think you have your "gotcha" moment.

Sad news and terrible business decision. Playstation games should stay only on Playstation.

More people get to play their games. What exactly is sad about that? Get a grip.

It's funny how Sonys biggest fans are the ones who want less people to play their games.

That logic is even more nonsensical. Why would you think this static fraction of the gaming population would somehow cause one of the biggest console makers to go third party?
In the hypothetical future where sony releases ps6 games on pc day 1 or 6 months latter, whomever owned a super powered pc today would still have to eventually make the choice of buying a new $1k+ pc or/and the $400 device in question.

Yeah, but they are not doing the thing were you buy the console version and getting the PC version for free.
They need to do that.
I liked that Microsoft did that with Cuphead.

They don't have their own store. You don't get Steam or EGS versions for free either.

How is them bringing content to an additional platform making it hard to be a console person?
Exactly. There are the same decade old arguments about pros and cons for a console. It's still the same even when games come to PC because consoles aren't only about exclusives. Other arguments are still valid.

Yes, for some people there might be one less reason, but for other people there's still plenty.

"No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC."
"It is currently not possible to purchase the PC version of a title and then play it on a PS4 or PS5 console, or vice versa."
"It is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version of a PlayStation Studios title, or vice versa."

Lots of use of the word "currently" in there. :)

Yes Sony is making a few bucks from this, but windows is ms platform, they sand to benefit the most out of this , if only ms put some serious effort and money into their store.

PCs kind of preserve video games. I think people are starting to realize that.
Still, you have to sometimes fight Windows 10 to get an old game to work.
