Microsoft is not planning to increase prices of Xbox Series X/S

Sony fans will not give a f@#% about 50 whatever.

Of course they aren't. They bring in enough quarterly profit and revenue and Xbox as a division is such a small part of their overall income, that a few more dollars to eat off the consoles literally doesn't matter to them.

But very few other companies have a market cap of over $2 trillion dollars. Very few have high revenue-generating divisions like Windows, Azure and Office. This is an example of Microsoft leveraging the strengths of their other divisions to offset losses on the gaming side, just putting that out there.

Ultimately tho, I guess it's a good thing they won't be increasing the price. At the end of the day, that will help with selling more Series S and X units and that's also worth putting out there.

Well that settles that then. Inflationary pressures are affecting each of the "Big 3" console manufacturers the same way but it seems only one is passing on that cost to end consumers.
It’s a sign of things to come. Everything is going to get even more expensive also Europe is geting off Russian gas, and china is going through a housing crisis inflation is going to spike. The US hasn’t been effected as much by it compared to other countries. it’s a preemptive move by Sony. Microsoft is going to capitalize on this, they are big enough to absorb that cost.

all of these companies are posting record profits every quarter and still feel the need to increase prices on games, subs and now hardware...

It's nice that MS HW is going to keep their current prices, but for how long?
Maybe they just ride out the inflation train? I would of thought Sony would have done the same.

Didn't they raise the prices across the board for all MS services in India not too long ago, including Xbox products?

Or are we just going to ignore that ever happened because warriors are as daft as they are retarded?

It's still increasing over their price before... to the consumer.

Ok, mental gymnastics.
The only one doing mental gymnastics is you, infact you seem to be talking out your ass based on the info in the post below, which you quietly ignored..😆

Actually doing my own research into the matter, the price increase in India was so massive you can somehow pick up a Series S for cheaper then the original price.

Xbox Series X pricing is the same (despite being out of stock):

Truly Microsoft is the worst.

No one knows how long this is going to last. At the very least though, we can hope it finally results in some fundamental changes. For example, less reliance on China for manufacturing and assembly, labor etc. There are other countries across other parts of Asia, South America, Africa & Middle East that can surely take on a good percentage of that. It also would've been nice if Global Foundries stayed competitive with TSMC, Intel's fab too for that matter, but they haven't, and now Intel own Global Foundries IIRC.

Hopefully they can get their fab process on-board. Also more tech-related, but I think only one company actually makes the lithography machines that can do EUV process, right? Does that company have an exclusivity patent or something on that? Maybe look into some changes there so more companies can produce those machines and sell them to foundries. This is all stuff at the root level that, if it were structured better, the current events would not have nearly as much an impact as they are. Even things like the conflict in Russia/Ukraine would not have as much an impact on global economies if alternative fuel sources were more prominent and readily available at affordable rates, etc.

If they won't release their specific numbers, it means they're losing money.

Hardware rarely goes up since the production prices are going down along the way so the profit margin gets larger unless they drop the price (more often) or release a new model. The Sony strategy is a bit weird because it's a PR error from my point the view, the same kind that put Xbox One down when they said they won't allow games to be shared. We'll see.

Easy PR win for no effort. Sony’s taking advantage of the situation to make as much money as possible. Fanboys still defend their unjustified game prince increase, so they know they can increase the price and people will fall over themselves to explain why it’s actually a good thing.

Well, hope the positive reactions from gamers would convince them to keep the price frozen for now.
If they really want to take advantage of the situation - they'd lower the Series S price slightly. I mean, it's already selling lower than MSRP (even MS's homepage is selling at $289 or so).

As long as they don't hike Game Pass price... I'd be okay.

I’ve not really gave a shit either way about Jim Ryan but if there’s one thing his reign will be remembered for it’s not giving a single fuck about the public perception of Sony PlayStation nickle and diming and shaking us down unashamedly for every single last penny.

I just hope this short-termism doesn’t effect the long term legacy and future of PlayStation.

As a green rat, I dont think this will have much of an impact on Playstation. People will still line up for them and Sony know it.
Come Black Friday, the PS5 will be back at it's original price and consumers will lap it up and feel good about the "bargain" they just got.

Nah, it won't. Playstation is too big to fail. Nintendo did way worse more than once and still have a good fanbase, as Sony and now Microsoft. Microsoft had to win big time on this generation or they were "doomed", Gamepass is their key to success. But Playstation will have to score big games soon because between paying 40-50$ a year for all the games on Xbox and paying 70USD for one game on Playstation may work for the biggest fans but for the common gamer, not sure it will do.
