Phil Spencer: Xbox Series S|X will be supply constrained until 2023.

The top picture is actual stock the other two are just pos, so good to see a store having 18 units of series x in stock though, that's like that pic of the 17 ps5s that were shared...looks like stock is turning up for these consoles.
No 1 and 3 are actual Stock. Can't tell 100% about 2.

I went to my local electronic market here and there were XBOX series X on the shelves! Not many (3 remaining) but they were there. I couldn't believe my eyes. Playstation obviously nowhere to be found. So the situation is slowly getting better I guess.

So...does this mean it was a genius move by Sony to make the DE or did Sony pay more for more chips?

Because these same talking points came up when the PS5 stock was low the beginning of the year. Series S being a genius move is debatable. MS paying more for chips as to why it was outselling the PS5 was....interesting.

Or...is this pre emptive move because it looks like Sony has gotten a handle on PS5 stock....and if MS is now focusing more on the Series S...(something I think they mentioned late last year IIRC).....its gonna be a wild look if it continues to get outsold be 2 higher priced consoles from a competitor. PS5 being higher in revenue was gonna be a given if PS5 stock improved.

Stay tuned.

His wording is interesting in that he only says: "I still think demand will outstrip supply for us this holiday".

So despite shipping a lot less than the competition since launch, this is still just a prediction, which means if it doesn't end up true, what does that mean about the series consoles' long term performance?

Personally I think his statement is going to be true more because they probably haven't got any more chip capacity in real terms than they had at the start or the gen, because as they increase the split more towards Series X fabrication, they actual get less chips - unless they increase their fabrication capacity - because they get more Series S chips per wafer than X. So I would expect they will have a bigger percentage of XsX available, which will all get sold (in North America) and their XsS supply will be scaling back at a time when unsatisfied XsX demand spills over to the XsS and wipes out that stock too.
Ahh, nice to see someone bring up the Series X vs Series S split.

MS got it easy unlike Sony where the PS5 is in demand globally. Sony has to worry about the logistics of supplying their products worldwide.

All MS has to do is focus and worry about stocks in the US and Uk. They just need focus their consoles allocation on these two countries. 🤔
Bad planning or dwindling demand?

Nice wordsmithing.

Nobody said they weren’t available somewhere.

You just made the argument of “in abundance in stores” after someone posted photos from 3 stores in Germany.

And yes, it’s a ridiculous effort to go to multiple stores just to try and prove a point that can’t be proven without more data than that.
There are exactly 3 stores within a five mile radius of where I live, that I shop at. Meijer, Target, and Walmart. Each of the three has had X’s in stock every time I have gone over the last three months. I’m not going to go take pictures though, because that ruins peoples false narratives on a gaming forum 🤷‍♂️
And also, that conclusion was drawn based on my own personal experience, and picture I posted from my Target, I didn’t even see the pictures from Germany.

Do you go to stores just to count their video game consoles?

Forgive me, you obviously count other items except video games as well.
Having a conversation with you is like talking to a brick wall. Can some of you ever just, like for a moment, stop and realize that there are other gamers and people in different areas outside the box you sit in? Jesus, all I am trying to say, is there are no issues finding X’s in my immediate area. You gotta keep coming at me with some dumb shit about it.

Lol…again, stores I regularly shop at for other items. What kind of deranged maniac doesn’t go through the video game section when they go to a store shopping? 😊
I was just wondering. I see all kinds of people saying they regularly go to every store around them to see how many consoles they have and I've always wondered why. It's not a particularly useful piece of information and seems like a waste of time.

I try to avoid going to stores like Walmart and Target. Too people-y. I'll use their grocery delivery services though.

Oh, you legit meant people really go just to count. That’s dumb lol. Sorry about that, I thought you were sarcastically asking if I went to count, I did not realize people really do that.

Luckily my Target here has pretty slow foot traffic during the day outside of the weekend, so it’s not too bad there. Walmart sucks every time, I try to avoid it, but sometimes if I can’t find a random household good or something, I’ll run in…but you are right, big box are definitely too peopley often.

I don't think many actually do it. They just say they do to fight in the console wars. But they might do it I guess.

No, you’re probably right to be honest. I didn’t really think about it that way, but it makes sense especially with all the warring I see on GAF. I wish I knew people were still having difficulty finding X’s, I would gladly grab one for someone if they needed one.

Except that if Xbox one sold 50 million ww (r more) than 25 (or more_ were sold outside the US, and the UK was what 4 or 5 million? So 20 million ww, an the 360 was over 30, seems like that's quite a bit of logistics outside the US and UK.

The real question is, regular trolling or concern trolling?

It's really not that hard to get any of the consoles with a bit of patience. Most of the "impossible to get" blustering is just console war nonsense. XSX and the PS5 HFW bundle are both available online right now in the US from Microsoft and Sony respectively.

Agreed, I got my launch ps5, had no problem with Sony sending me a new one when mine crapped out about three months in. I’ve also grabbed three for family/friends when I’ve seen them either online or in person. Although I’ve only seen them twice in stores, and each time it was one console. I’m also convinced the people who complain about not being able to get one at this point, are pretty much just not trying.

That makes no sense, even for console wars. To me that just means that there are consoles in that particular area. That's it. The same is happening with cars, when the brands are supply constrained they allocate the units to where they think will sell better. If there were no constrains in the supply chain, they would be available everywhere.

To people like that i just say: " ok, near where you live, there is stock of xbox X"

I think the biggest issue people have with Phils statement, is he mentioned the Series S. I think there would have been less outrage if he only mentioned the Series X. After all, there is a thread longer than this one I believe, where people were arguing that Series S sales shouldn't count for some reason, but PS5 D was a-ok. There were also many people thinking that the X would be pulled back because of the S which doesn't make any sense.

If you don't want the S don't buy it, it's there for the people who don't want to drop $500, who don't have 4KTV's, or casuals who don't care want want to play Cooking Simulator on gamepass.

I think you missed the point of the conversation. It wasn't about supply chain constraints. It was about people who spend their free time visiting every store they can find to count how many video games consoles are in stock just to use it as ammo in the console war. Who has nothing better to do than drive to every store, for free, to see how many of a specific item they have so they can gloat online about it?

There's a good chance that the Series S might become supply constrained during the holiday season.

It wasnt supply constraint ( atleast in germany ) last holiday. Why would it be this season?
There are no heavy hitters dropping until xmas that iam aware of to drive demand.
Sure it will go up because its holidays but the console is in stock, easily avaiable for everyone and we have months until holiday really kicks in.

Console demand and production quantity will be pretty much ok from now on i feel like. Have been a while for xbox.

I guess it takes around 3 months for the boxes to be shipped around the world? Mine was "born" on 1st June 2022, picked it up 1st September. I was expecting it to be much later, beginning of August or something but they probably aren't air freighting these things at this time of year.

In the UK at least you can get a Series X any time you want one. There is NO CONSTRAINT here whatsoever for this console. It has been in stock for 3+ months on Amazon and in stores. PS5 on the other hand even with price increase you have no hope unless you are on stock alerts.

Sony know they are winning but they need to be careful to not let things swing too far. MS will be pumping out some good games in 2023 and that is when we could see the tide change potentially.

The situation is slow starting to improve. But it’ll be years before it’s what it what’s prior to COVID. Finding whatever you want in a store is still a disaster. What you want is either out-of-stock or way more expensive than it was in 2019.

They are everywhere in Sweden. The X is even on sale right now for around $380.

In stock.

Three completely different markets and it’s not like they are producing a ton of them. Series S always in stock.

Maybe it’s different in the US.

I'm in the US and had no trouble just going to gamestop.com and getting a series x in december without a bundle.

This thread is hilarious. We'll just posting to either prove Phil a liar a month ago or until it's no longer true then retroactively call him a liar.

Got'em!

Imagine being permabanned from a PS forum for being too much of a Sony warrior and then getting banned here as well.

Twitter might be the best thing for your tirades.
Stop spreading lies about me.

I was banned from the other forum because I said on discord (same discord I later left because some people there were so annoying pro Sony) that I was going to end up banned because they changed the rules (then one mod went completely crazy on me and permabanned me). The entire appeal of the other forum was to be a place where you wouldn't have to walk on eggshells, so it stopped making any sense once they changed that. Also that place somehow ended up with the worst users of both sides.

Mods there are way worse then the ones in Neogaf, there is no contest. I keep getting banned here for talking shit on Phil Spencer but it's not like I got permabanned over some harmless thing I said in another place.

When in doubt just put your trust in Phil Spencer, It's not like he has a long history of lying, underdelivering, spinning or anything like that. He's just an all around trustworthy fella, he uses game related shirts and everything.
Pretty wild this got me a 30 days ban. You guys need to relax. I bet it was MScarpa that reported me.
