I e put more hours into Yakuza Like a Dragon the last 2 days then I have since I bought it. The convenience of portability.

And I love going back to the 4k144hz of the PC when I want to seamlessly continue progress.

There is a sale on right now for the strategy JRPG game I put a lot of time into on Deck. The game is stupidly easy compared to the originals, but it is still good and feels built for the handheld. You can pick up and play it, get through an episode, and put it down.

Like A Dragon is so great. I played it on GamePass. Now that it's on PS+, I'm tempted to play again for trophies.

I hope this is the future of Yakuza, or at least, it's own spin-off franchise.

Swinging around the city anytime you want on a handheld is one of life's little joys.

I wish we knew how many Steam Decks were sold. Proton probably could use the sales hype to establish a narrative and get PC games launched with better support.

When are we going to see a console? There were rumors of one based on metadata.

I think they'll sell as many as they can make. Seems to be what's happening now. It's a success no doubt.

Steam Deck Booklet

So we made a book about Steam Deck!

In preparation for Steam Deck launching in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, we wanted to introduce our new customers to Valve, Steam, and Steam Deck. So we made a small book – it’s about 50 pages, and we’ve translated it into Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and English.

The book includes:
  • Background on Valve and our philosophy around creating products and hardware to make our customers happy
  • An overview of Steam, how it came to be, and where it is now
  • The story of Steam Deck, how we designed it, and why we built it the way we did
  • Information about our collaboration with Komodo to launch in these new regions
  • Tons of pretty pictures of Steam Deck, prototypes, games, and more
We wrote, designed, and translated this book in-house, and now we’re making it available for everyone to download. It's available on Valve's publications page, or you can download it directly from the links below.
And for those of you who will be at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan next month, we will be there handing out a special physical version of this book at our hands-on Steam Deck booth. Hope to see you there!

Anyone try to get these PC ports of Mario 64/Ocarina/LttP running on a deck? Curious if you can just run them through the native OS/Proton or if it’s like an install windows kind of thing

I bought an HDMI to C cord to dock it to the TV, but its not going well. There's lag and poor framerate. I'm playing the Final Fantasy pixel remasters and they're playable, but it isn't very pleasant.

I finished Demons Souls ps3 without any issues. Asuras Wrath works perfectly. Ico and sotc collection ps3 also perfect. Eternal sonata ps3 crashed a couple of times.

Set up a bunch of switch stuff but haven't had time to test. Waiting for microsd card before testing more emulation.

Aawesome machine but definitely bigger than ideal

In case anyone knows the answer before I can find it, I'm wondering if the BIOS has an option to default to booting a USB drive. I've been looking for about 15 minutes and so far i've only seen people hold the volume key to start in the boot manager.

I'm also reading that it doesn't like it when you mess with grub? Is that true?

I’m so conflicted on this one.

I just got my notification to buy it but I have no Steam library.

I love handhelds but having so many games on the PS and Xbox and having to rebuy them worries me.

Even for newer games I would have to buy them twice if I want them on my home consoles and handheld.

I have no idea what to do.

There are a ton of sales on PC. Storefronts like Fanatical, Humble Bundle, and others will give you Steam keys when you buy (there is an icon on the stoppages when a Steam key is offered).

You can build your library pretty quickly and on the cheap. I've had my Steam account for over 10 years and have about 1,000 games. Over those years, my console libraries have come and gone but my Steam library is always there.

Thank you! I think you’ve just convinced me to at least give this a go.

Lots of websites that will consolidate storefronts so it's easy to find the best price. A few I use are:

Bundles on the previous storefronts linked are a great way to quickly build a library on the cheap. Humble Bundle especially.

For Steam Deck comparable games, you can check ProtonDB.

If you have any questions or run into hurdles, feel free to hit me up here or in PM.

Check out isthereanydeal.com

If you're a patient and/or have a diverse taste in different games and genre you get many games ultra cheap. Start by building up a wishlist on Steam and get notified once they're on sale. In addition to the mentioned website, you can always sort and filter your Steam wishlist for price and discount, only, or showing first, those deals that are really great.

Sales are also every other few weeks. There's Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring, New Year, Helloween, in-between sales, etc. I wonder when we get a non-sale-week-sale, lol.

Anyways it's not to late. If you already have friends on Steam, check out their profile and owned games, or check the store page of an interesting game if it's already owned by one of your friends. It's so easy to connect with them and talk or play with them about newly owned games or games you want to get.

Mine coming in tomorrow! (Crossing fingers!)
Already sorted out some emulation games that I want to put in (for now) in a dinky 64gb card that I pulled out from un-used Raspberry Pi.
This will likely be a great companion when I travel overseas in October.
Hopefully the USB/AC charging port would be good enough for operation.

I've got mine today.
Made the order August 22 (2021) and it arrived today.

Now I have to buy a big microsd for the emulators and perhaps some temporary dock.
Buy the Jsaux dock. You won't be sorry.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I'm feeling slighted that this wasn't mentioned

Maiden Voyage Maiden Voyage thanks for posting the starter guide above.

Its not actually that useful but its really good for kind of ... giving some context ... for wtf I just bought. For instance it would've taken me forever to discover desktop mode on my own. This thing has so many cool possibilities. I am pumped for this.

Is it easy enough to get Origin on this? Thinking of signing up to EA Play Pro.
Lutris is supposed to work well. I haven't tried it myself but I believe it support Origin.
