My master race friends. MW2 on Steam or battle net ?

I have all previous games on battle net. So it does make sense to go battle net with this one as well. Especially when you also don't lose your cod points ( as if I have any ) and you do not lose 20H of double xp.

However, it would be nice to get rid of battle net and just have Steam since I rarely play previous entries anyway ( and vanguard sucks anyway ).
Plus you can always use VR headset If you decided to play in VR mode.

My only problem is Activision pulls a rockstar where you still need battle net even if the game is on Steam. Do you guys think that's the case ?

Big edit/Update:

I emailed Activision support about the need of having battle.net to launch the game on Steam. I got a confirmation that it's not needed and battle.net is just for the battle.net version

With this update plus what everyone suggested, I just bought the game on Steam ( I even forgot I have 20$ store credit too so that helped lol )

Steam. Microsoft will eventually dissolve Battle.net.
I honestly don't see that happening.

Even if they were able to merge all your games to Microsoft store.( By say linking your battle net account to Xbox account ), I don't see this happening for another probably 5 years. By then who cares about MW2 lol

Modern Warfare 2 '22 is still a fully Activision/Blizzard title.
So just get it on battlenet since thats where most of your COD life has been.

After the acquisition is complete i would probably start buying COD games on Steam/Microsoft store, cuz yeah Microsoft will eventually get rid of Battlenet.

Destiny 2 migrated to Steam already. So the worst case would be CoDs migrating too. Plus Battle.net launcher can not die before WoW dies.

If the price is equal in both, I would choose Steam.
Battlenet is very lacking in features.

I think there are a lot of games using battle.net which would need updating to have it patched out. It could be a botch job where you can install via Steam but you still have to log in to battle.net to play.

I haven't had a problem with the battle.net client, but I guess why bother if you already have steam installed.

An update that I will add to the OP.

Also. While it's confirmed Cod is coming to game pass, i do not sub to game pass unless there is a big game I want to play or two, so I think of game pass as an awesome rental service. But COD is a game I play every day almost.

And since there is COD for 2023, paying game pass for 2 years Vs owning it on Steam is not really even close. Steam it's lol.

Always go for Steam, as long as you have the option. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft removed Battle.net. The less PC launcher = better.

I suspect account migration to Steam will happen couple of months/year after the deal is finalized. MS will nix it just like they did with the Bethesda Launcher.
It's too costly to maintain and offers nothing.

Already pre-ordered it on Steam.
I hope they get rid of Battle.net. I'd love to migrate my MW2019 to Steam, it's the only game i have in that useless client.
