Halo Infinite's Split-Screen Co-Op Has Been Canceled

I just got done punching a hole in a wall. WTF why would they let Halo get abused like this? Microsoft must hate Halo. There is no defending this anyone. NONE.

Can’t believe this game was GAF’s GOTY and Game Awards player choice. Fastest popped hype bubble yet.

I’m thinking that’s the problem. They can’t syncronize the work flow with that many people.
I mean the gameplay is best it's ever been and that's crucial. Ot could have been a bad gameplay halo with massive lack of content don't forget.

This is sad, because I have no clue how they are so far behind. And idk if I can blame covid, because covid happened in the year of release that delayed game by a year.

I think deep down in the roots there are management issues and a bad priority list.

They know there's no point because people dont care anymore. Ain't nobody going back to this game. You only get one chance to impress and retain players. If you don't do it from the get go, they aint gonna return to the game months later.

That sucks, I personally won't be effected but disappointed for those that been looking forward to it. Split screen co-op is something I look back at fondly during my university years.

How many other game franchises are being held to releasing a game that has all of these things?
  • Full SP campaign
  • Full MP suite with multiple maps and modes
  • Robust modding tools
  • Co-op
  • Split screen co-op
  • Battle passes with cosmetics
  • Regular stream of new content
  • Next gen presentation
Halo fans have destroyed the franchise by being so unrealistic in their demands and expectations.

The last hope is to bundle it up with halo mcc and maybe charge 5 10 dollars for campaign
Disband 343 literally that studio is a dumpster fire
This should be releasing 4 5 maps every quarter with new modes and stuff to retain players , yet they did absolutely nothing
Absolutely murder of the most beloved franchise.

This is straight up trash.

Edit: Just to clarify, I wouldn't give as much of a damn of they wouldn't have put out statements that they wouldn't release another Halo game without this feature going forward.

Infinite's gameplay is the worst it's been, it's a call of duty ripoff and nothing like a real Halo game. There is a reason that the game failed...

Please tell me this is satire.

MS can spend 70Billion dollars on a publisher, but not pay 343 enough to allocate three people to develop a Halo split screen mode. This is a dumpster fire MS already wrote off.

I'd very much prefer a product without life service shit cosmetics and battle passes and the like but a good quality game with a splitscreen campaign.

I don't know how MS with practically infinite money cheat allows this.

Didn’t most play it at launch and then quickly dropped it anyway? I have no idea what they’ve done in 2022.

They haven't done much in 2022 other than give fans hope. Forge, online coop, and potentially a big BR esque mode are supposedly in the pipeline which could rejuvenate the title.

If November was the final package...yikes.

That's not really the problem.

It's that everything included in Halo Infinite thus far has been mediocre. People would be far kinder to 343 if even one thing they did was exceptional.

They've been doing nothing but Halo for over 10 years, it's a 700+ people studio working for one of the wealthiest companies in the world.
How do they still struggle so much?
I’m guessing it’s due to a lack of creative freedom.

Tell an author he can only ever write SciFi, mystery or high fantasy books for ever, see how long his passion lasts.

Tell an artist they can only sing pop, or soft rock for the rest of their career.

Tell a movie director they can only ever work on dinosaur films.

It’s just mental, let them make whatever they want. Microsoft have to accept that the 343/Coalition experiment has been a resounding failure. Luckily they’ve allowed PlayGround to make a second studio for Fable. Hopefully they have learned.

It does suck that they are cancelling something which they had already committed to adding. Having said that, what percent of people would actually use this feature? 1-2%?

thats a little extreme isnt it?

it isn't. not at all. 3 games, 3 games they had time to make a Halo game, and they didn't meat that goal once.

they should release Forge and then stop development completely, after that close down 343i and fire all the higher ups responsible.

the Battle Royale that Certain Affinity currently works on should be rebranded and released as a standalone title.

Yeah they seem to struggle a lot compared to other studios.

I actually liked the core gameplay though, and the grapple was awesome, but it’s like big chunks of the game was cut. I dropped out in late december after being bored by the samey campaign and not getting hooked on mp. 16 hours total says my Xbox app stats, more than it deserved. I had more fun playing Halo 5 which everyone seems to hate, only 9 hours played there and never touched mp but I went through and mostly enjoyed the campaign at least. 🤷‍♂️

This is nonsense. We know of several examples of slow burner GaaS games where players did indeed come back. One of them was even a Microsoft game.

Obviously they did since it was a big complaint with Halo 5, they promised that it would be in the next game.
I don't know anyone who waited for the splitscreen and everybody i know stopped playing the multiplayer months ago.

It's the truth, this is what I've been waiting on. This will probably make me quit Halo altogether. 343 has ruined it at every turn. Just dissolve the company, time to give up on halo or give it to a team that can do it justice
Halo MCC is where it’s at. I’ve given up on Infinite for the foreseeable future though.

Who the hell buys an expensive ass TV to split the screen in a game like this? Online co-op is more than enough. Split-Screen co-op should be reserved for less demanding or complex games. It's a waste of time and resources.

I bet this was always the plan. They knew it would be better to formally cancel it far into release when people stopped giving a shit about the game

Read coop cancelled and was getting my twitter fingers ready till I saw it was couch coop. I personally could care less since I don’t play couch coop games. But it’s still kind of embarrassing. Halo infinite is a good but terribly managed game. The management behind this is laughably bad.

To an extent, sure.
But there has to be more to it, if it was only a lack of creative freedom then they should at least feel like a well oiled but uninspired machine. Something like Call of Duty or Assassins Creed, which feel factory made but at least tend to come out with competently made, content packed products on a steady schedule.

But Infinite came out with many lacking features even after being delayed for a whole year. They've struggled to keep up with the expected demands of an ongoing live service, they've pushed back expected features like Co-op multiple times and now they are even scrapping some of those features.
