Sega Saturn on MiSTer FPGA; testing the bangers to see how they fare (spoiler: pretty well!)

Last Saturn in FPGA video I did...I guess I didn't pick the games most people wanted to know about because the amount of comments "awesome but does X work yet" caught me off guard. I guess my picks just weren't the general consensus on what people would be curious about. But Saturn has a deep and legit awesome library that more people will be discovering via the MiSTer FPGA core so I figured...why not test em out!

Curious though GAF...what's the FIRST Saturn game that you would try if you were sitting down to test you fav games? For me it's Die Hard Arcade all day long but I do love hearing what other people get into. Especially when its a deep cut I barely remember or potentially have never played.

But the progress on the Saturn core is legit. So much is booting and playable in different states. I basically got through half of The House of the Dead before I decided to test Saturn Bomberman...and even if the audio is missing...kinda just feels like playing a Sega Saturn with the audio RCA cables disconnected

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
This is so cool. I never had a Saturn, and this would be an amazing way of diving through the catalog.

First game I test on Saturn emulators is Sega Rally. It's still pure racing bliss.

It's a miracle of programming with a silky smooth framerate, and they nailed the movement of the vehicles. The track design, the music and the sound design all are fantastic.

Addictive as hell to play in short 20 minute bursts, definitely worth having in your collection.

Still one of the best physics engines in an arcade racing game

I think you are asking can it run on one ram stick? Yesish….all these tests are on one ram stick. But that’s not final so I cant answer for certain

Awesome. I think the core is pretty close. I'd say within the next 3 months it'll be very close to final.

Always great to this day. Although if you haven’t played the Model 2 version recently try that too. As good and prettier
As far as I remember, the Saturn version had better handling whereby your car responded to each surface type differently. Please correct me if I'm wrong though but the arcade always felt a bit 'floaty' to me.
