Greetings Sentinel Force,
Thank you very much for playing BABYLON'S FALL.

With the desire of delivering an exhilarating online multiplayer action RPG set in an elaborate high fantasy world, we launched the game's official service on Thursday, March 3, 2022, and have continued to undertake additional development and operations. However, it is with deep regret to inform you that we will be terminating the game's service on February 27, 2023.

As a result, we will also cancel the large-scale updates that we had planned. In terms of the plan moving forward, Season 2 will run until Tuesday, November 29, 2022, as scheduled, and the Final Season will begin with the maintenance scheduled on the same day. This Final Season is the period during which you can earn the ranking rewards of Season 2.

As a way of expressing our gratitude to all our players, we plan to implement as many events and other initiatives as we can, leading up to the end of the service.

I'm sure the one user on steam and PS4 are crying their eyes out over this announcement.

My Disc for this game just sits there, tried playing but hit a huge wall with the difficulty on my own when the boss was literally impossible to beat.

You mean more than any one of their other dumpster fires has?
Not aimed at you but Platinum gets way to much praise, they have more garbage games than hits, so bipolar in delivery. And even then half the time their games are just all flash, a couple good ideas but short and repetitive.
They just keep taking on shit projects and getting fucked over. When they're just allowed to make a video game the way they want they're brilliant.

Would've fared much better as a singleplayer game it was first intended to be, instead of shifting focus to this GaaS garbage it eventually became. I don't like to cheer to failures, it's hard work behind it, but hopefully this is a wake up call to SE and others in the industry to not half ass it and think players are stupid enough to jump in.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I'm not surprised, I think I saw it for tenner at some point a few months ago and it wasn't release that long ago.

Ahh, feels good to see a GaaS die.
It's not so much the "GaaS" aspect itself which is the culprit here. Plenty of games do it well.

The issue is making soulless, by-the-numbers games with scummy monetization practices which have no steady stream of content. The sooner we let all those by the wayside the better.

Eh.... Not even trying f2p first...

You mean Square-Enix right?

S-E hired Platinum to do a job, they did what S-E asked... They paid for a trashy Gaas, they got a trashy gaas.

Let’s not let Platinum weasel away from this. They get most of the blame. Both parties agreed on the budget.

Platinum has made much better looking games on low AAA budgets before, and Budget won’t absolve you from technical issues, issues with the story and lackluster gameplay.

Sure, but S-E saw that the game was trash and decided to release it anyway.

Same thing that happened with Left Alive or The Quiet Man.

That's a good thing. Anthem, Babylon's Fall, now more such examples, so that publishers realize that players don't let them do everything.

EDIT: Whoops, I have confused the game with Godfall. NVM.
Godfall, babalons fall. Whatever.

I'm not even gonna spell check babalon even though I'm positive that's not how it's spelled cause it doesn't deserve grammatical correct sentences

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

I agree. Doubt this will affect Platinum's reputation much considering their games are still fun in general.

Surprised they didn’t go f2p, really wish they had. Wanted to check out the full game to see what was up with it. Thought the demo was alright but it never dropped in price enough for me.

How much does it really cost to keep a few servers online if no one is really playing it? Seems ridiculous to not keep it on life support for a few years, even if they scuttled future updates.

My linux vps is 10 USD/month. Add 5 server/region and its still nothing for a company. People who manage it would cost more money

Ah well, sure glad I didn't pre-order this title. Meanwhile I think Platinum will be just fine as they have plenty of games coming up to bank on such as Bayonetta Physical Switch Edition and Bayonetta 3. Time to ready up those super special editions with used panties.
