Yikes indeed, talk about desperation.

Microsoft says in FY2023, and Kotick says by the end of FY2023? By the end of, insinuating during but not later than FY2023?

Imagine moving the goalposts so hard that your gotcha ends up backfiring and slapping you in the face.

They again.

You literally said "expected date" when Microsoft themselves gave nothing but a timeframe, a whole year at that (of which we have already entered). You're the one fixated on June 2023, not them.

Good luck, seems like you need this.

I can’t wait for this deal to be either quashed or closed. The fanboyism from both sides is terrible.

True.

But don't expect it to go away after the deal is closed. It's how things are and will always be.

I mean...I would think. Doesn't MS stand to loose 3 billion if it falls through? Somebody gotta answer for that.

That's pocket change for them. It will make more of a positive difference to Activision than it will a negative one to Microsoft.

Trying really hard, I see.

Keep hold of that gif and give it to all your mates. You'll need it a lot over the next 12 months to explain some of the nonsense you've all posted throughout this regulatory process.

Maybe they can use it as leverage and not make call of duty exclusive. Then when you have them right where you want them, demand the rights to Socom from Sony. :)

wtf? they weren’t even the first ones to raise prices, 2k & Activision were + now Ubisoft is doing so as well (and I wouldn’t be surprised if MS does after the AB purchase goes through since they’ll now own one of the publishers that did so)

where did this strange idea that Sony were the first (and apparently only?) to hike prices come from? what world are you all living in? inflation is a legit thing and games hadn’t had a price increase in a decade & a half

is anyone happy that games cost more? no of course not but where was this outrage back in 2005/2006 when Microsoft had Xbox 360 games from 3rd party publishers cost $10 more and then suddenly come 2007 they hiked the price on first party games by another $10 as well with Halo 3?

Dude everyone will be raising their prices this gen.

Did you honestly expect games to stay at 60 fucking dollars with game development costs increasing with each new gen and inflation.

I said before the gen even started that game prices will be on the increase.

It's going to be fun to revisit posts like yours in future when games are going to be (industry wide) at a new $70 price point.

These corporations are not a charity nor are they your friend.

Y'all fell for the bait 🤣

If I suddenly change my avatar like this, and post a really stupid quote, it's because I'm impersonating someone on ResetEra for saying something super-stupid.

Sorry, I already said:

"What's funny is how Microsoft themselves gave an expected date all the way out by summer 2023, because they know how this shit works, and how the vast majority of people assume there will be regulatory scrutiny due to the nature of every large acquisition ever, yet someone on an internet forum thinks he has brownie points because a few anonymous people thought the "deal would go smoothly without a hitch."

The irony is that there hasn't been a hiccup yet. Nothing happening is out of the ordinary in terms of how the process goes. But this one person on NeoGaf.com said it wouldn't go to phase two and now it is so hahaha take that!

Yikes"

Mans really repeating himself after getting this nonsense put down and then adding the "j-just you wait and see!" line 😂

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Their corporate lawyers that adviced them that the deal would go through, presumably, not Phil.
MS must have gotten assurances beforehand if they knew the cost of a no-deal was going to be $3 billion. I wouldnt be surprised if they went to the back channels before the deal to see if it would be rejected.

BECAUSE NONE OF THEM MAKE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS EVERY SINGLE YEAR

It's hopeless mate.

When people are comparing marketing deals and timed exclusives to this $70 billion dollar deal (and bringing up $70 games) you know people can't see the forest for the trees.

It's like kindergarten children. Just get on their levels chuck in a few emojis, drop laughing reactions on their posts and enjoy the ride down to idiocy.

First part of your post = Agree (and I think this is what will happen in future)

Not sure about the rest lol

Don't they lose the $3 billion if they opted to pull out of the deal? If a regulatory body, nixes it, would they still have to pay it?

The only person I see repeating themselves here is you. Are you ok?

:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Are you saying it would be impossible for MS to naturally grow a competitor that makes as much money as CoD?

That’s what it sounds like you’re saying :pie_thinking:
Not at all what I'm saying.
If you are a big corp and are looking to expand your corporation, do you go after small fish that make tens of millions or big fish that make hundreds of millions?

At the same time, you can also grow your resources internally, but if you want to win big, you go big for companies that can expand your portfolio greatly and not minimally.

You stray the line to ensure regulators don’t think you are stifling competition.

And this is precisely why regulators step in if and when they can.

You are answering your own questions and not even realising it.

Or, if you didn't view the world in fanboy goggles, no company in their right mind would offer an agreement to their rival for permanent support in perpetuity, especially after spending so much money, and especially after said rival has tried to put them out of business with practices that make their outcries sound incredibly hypocritial and laughable.
No self-awareness, huh?

Not at all. You guys are acting like Sony themselves aren't a MEGA corporation will billions of dollars in assets.
Stifling competition in what way? Has Sony not acquired a deal worth billions of dollars themselves recently? Seems that they are plenty competitive to me.

They've dominated MS for years and were moneyhatting content, but yet I haven't heard a peep about stifling competion from some of you.

Well, I don't think anyone would ever say that. :messenger_beaming: These regulatory agencies win more times than they lose, but they aren't unbeatable. FTC loses like a third of the time or something like that.
I dont think you can compare many cases to this one. But yeah of course. I just like the spirit.

You're pretending there's some mass concentration of people that are saying this deal never had to go to phase 2 and that things are looking rocky despite said concentration saying it would go smoothly. Literally making shit up from maybe like two people, if that, on a singular random gaming forum, due to how your mind percieves reality. While ignoring the facts provided from that that contradict that.

Then you go on and double down. So I quoted myself since reading comprehension fails you at times (as evidenced by the first thing I told you in this very thread).

Read it slowly. If you're having trouble, spell the words out. You were taught better than this.

This is gonna get good, I still think it’ll go through in the end with possible concessions. But it’s hilarious that we went from “the deal will smoothly go through after MS pay these government guys off“ to the existence of threads like “Do you guys think the Activision deal will through?”.

Poor little Microsoft couldn't compete with Sony's moneyhats so they had no choice to spend $70 billion.

Poor little Microsoft couldn't complete with Sony's ~$1-3 billion individual studio purchases so they had no choice but to spend $70 billion.

Poor little Microsoft couldn't cope with Sony embarrassing them when it comes to game output so they had no choice but to spend $70 billion.

Let's all pour one out for Microsoft and Phil Spencer, they have been through so much, Sony has done so many horrible things to them that they've had no choice but to go in this direction.

May they find the strength to continue in the shadow of the mighty MEGA corporation that is Sony.

As the article's title states:

So Europe is expected to take the same position as UK, this will go through a long second phase investigation process and Microsoft is risking that the terms will be dictated by regulators at a later stage instead of trying to smooth things now by their own will.
But I guess it's part of a gambling game of trying to make this pass without restrictions and no clear indications by CMA at this stage as the article explains.
We'll see what happens, certainly this is not going as smoothly as some people expected.
I'd say it's less gambling but more trying not to lose time. Showing concessions now would probably not satisfy any regulator (at the very least due to the sheer scale of the purchase) or they'd need to be concessions that wouldn't satisfy Microsoft's board and shareholders.

With this they avoid spending weeks or months on a lost cause.

Seriously, y'all gotta stop blaming Sony for MS's missteps this past generation.

What a childish response, but if they were being beaten handedly doing what they were doing, why continue the same thing. They changed tactics and look at who is the one complaining about it now?
It would've been dumb of them to continue bashing their heads against the wall and MS didn't become a trillion dollar company by being dumb.
