Cyberpunk 2077 Beats Elden Ring As Most Played Single-Player Game On Steam

You need to relax, friend.

Some people enjoy studying charts of todays best games.
Some people are running more fool’s errands than ever, misunderstanding and misinterpreting statistics left right and centre for some of the stupidest fucking duck measuring contests nobody need bother with if they only took a few seconds to think.

I am plenty relaxed, this is inane stupidity.

Hell yeah.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners did wonders for the game. The reddit for it is exploding right now.

Steam stats peaked at ~ 47k players today, I think.

Hopefuly CDPR will keep improving the game now that they arent shackled to last gen hardware

You underestimate the density and amount of geometry in this game world, and all the interactive parts of it. This is no slouch graphically or on a technical basis.
I think people usually understimate the amount of geometry and verticality when driving around in 3rd person.

If you actually walk and look up, damn ... The size of the buildings, the scope of the world, it's unmatched.

There are no open world games with this amount of density. Only Matrix Awakens can trade blows with it, and even then, the density is not overwhelming like in Cyberpunk.

Ding ding ding.

The only person in this thread that's correctly identified what's going on. Those reasons plus the new anime on netflix.

Let's all come back in 2 weeks time when it's no longer on sale and see where it sits on this list.
Its not that OP didnt take that into account, but rather is more fun to start shit just for the hell of it.

What is this idiotic thread? What is it even trying to say? As far as I can tell, those numbers are just for whatever day the snapshot was taken of. And it should come to NO surprise to anyone that Cyberpunk is trending right now. For starters, the game has been well received by the PC crowd since launch. It just received a pretty significant update with 1.6. The new expansion was just recently announced, communicating to us that the devs have not abandoned the game and moved on to the next thing (plus they have been steadily fixing major issues since launch, accruing good will on the collective mind). And it just happens to be that a very well received anime was just released on Netflix (I finished watching it yesterday, I really liked it), which I'm sure made some people finally give the game a chance or come back to it after "it was fixed". And finally, on top of it all, the game has a 50% sale going on right now. OP forgot to mention all of that, maybe in a haste to create this thread, or perhaps just to stir some drama. Honestly, if it was not doing better than Elden Ring, then that would be a problem, which is a game that hasn't received any new content since it came out early this year. Heck, if anything, the fact that Elden Ring is so close Cyberpunk speaks a lot about its staying power after all these months. However, it also says a lot about Cyberpunk, that despite the problems and the fact it's been out for close to two years, people are still coming back to it and giving it a chance.

Some of the sentiments in this thread are so puzzling and childish to me.

Whatever you might think about CDPR, they have not abandoned their fan base and are working hard to fix the game and provide more content for it. Yes, they severely damaged their reputation and the trust people had on them, but they have been making an honest effort to fix the situation. This "oh you made a mistake in the past so we will never forgive you and hold you accountable for it FOREVER no matter what you do" BS it's do dumb to me. The people saying such idiotic stuff should live up to their "standards" and NEVER forgive themselves for the dumb shiz they've done in the past. With that said, CDPR still has a lot to prove, and their real test will come when they launch their next game. However, I can only applaud their efforts for genuinely trying to fix the situation and not running away like other developers do.

Also, all you people disregarding the real issues the game has at launch are just delusional. As much as I like Cyberpunk, I cannot disregard the game had serious issues at launch, even on PC. People putting the game on a pedestal saying it's the greatest thing ever and give carte blanche to everything CDPR said or did are just lying to themselves. There were a lot of broken promises, a lot of lies and we didn't get the game that was envisioned or sold to us through advertising.

Finally, my opinion of Cyberpunk 2077 is actually really positive. I was one of the people that bought and played the game at launch on PC. I had crashes throughout my entire play through, and encountered many bugs, one of which kept me from being able to complete all the side missions. Despite all that, I fell in love with the game, the world and its characters. I had a lot of fun playing it! It's a shame the game was released in that state. If they had been able to flesh out some of these ideas I really think it would've been a legendary game for all the good reasons. Instead, I think it's a very solid, very good fun game with some flashes of brilliance here and there.

It would've been far more interesting to have a thread comparing the lifetime numbers of both games, and how they compare over time. I think it's clear to me OP just wanted to elicit a reaction, or maybe they are just lazy. Probably both. Anyway, peace out nerds.

Good, it deserves it. Phenomenal game. People shitting on it most likely haven't played it. Did CDPR fuck up by launching it on last gen consoles, absolutely. But the Native current gen versions look and play great, as does the PC version with a good GPU. I waited for the native PS5 version to play and I'm glad i did. I played for 116 hours and had a blast platinuming it.

Damn, CD Projekt pulled a no mans sky
won't fix their reputation, but they did fix their game
It’s great but No Man’s Sky is on a whole other level, NMS has actually received 20 big game changing updates since it’s original release, plus a bunch of patches and expeditions. Historical comeback.

Twitch's most popular game the past few days has been Cod Modern Warfare 2 beta.

It looks like ass. Like it could run on Xbox 360.

Cyberpunk 2077 is almost two years old now and heavy hitters like Far Cry 6, Elden Ring and uh (I guess CoD 2022 should be included) look like ass by comparison.

Currently on my second playthrough on PS5 after I played it on my OG PS4 at launch.

And what can I say… I love it. It still isn’t perfect and not what they promised in the beginning. But it still is the best modern RPG of its kind with this setting. The characters are fantastic, the world is one of a kind and the gameplay is more than fun.

I’m around 50 hours now and will soon finish it up. A fantastic experience I wish I could have experienced the first time around. I really hope the DLC will be a worthy addition.

probably cause of the new patch and the anime show. it’ll drop in a couple weeks. not shitting on the game, i like it. i want to go replay it but waiting for 1.7 with reworked police/vehicle combat and then the expansion too!

I'm doing a second run during these days and maybe it's because i had very few bugs at launch on pc, but the game looks and feel exactly the same as launch.

The problems are still all there between op hacking, meh enemy ia, some visual glitch here and there like npcs not having shadows or npcs weapons floating in the air etc.

So still a good to great game if someone is really into cyberpunk universe, but i'm really not noticing all the upgrades from the various patches, but then again, my launch experience was probably luckier than 90% of gamers, i literally had less bugs in 82 hours of playtime than your average ubisoft game.

This game worth trying for someone who didn't like Witcher 1/2? Didn't enjoy the gameplay in either and never bothered with anything the company made again.

Gonna wait for the next big patch with the improved police system and whatnot before I reinstall and finish the story. 1.6 was too little.

I still rate it far lower than any Witcher game, but as you can see a lot of people in this thread are showering it with praises and claiming that after few patches it became very good.

Which is completely baffling to me, as there isn’t a single aspect of this game past (some of the) eye candy that I think is genuinely well done, but to each one his own, etc, etc.

I'd say its worth trying if you dig the setting. While the overall game loop follows a similar pattern to that of The Witcher 3, albeit with some improvements, the gameplay itself and tone are very different.

In general, i'd say the people who'd enjoy either one won't always be the same. I myself wasn't a huge fan of TW3 and ended up really liking Cyberpunk.

15 hours in after 20 patches and it's more than okay, I'm having a good time with it. And now with 60 FPS mode on Series S it runs quite well, too.

While that may be true I don't think the final visual presentation is as impressive as you claim in the absence of RT. I'm just surprised at how demanding the game is.

But as i said, in the absence of RT this game isn't really anymore demanding than other AAA titles. This can run on a GTX 1060 or GTX 1650 at 1080p and reasonably good settings while keeping 30-40 fps.

Anything less than 60fps is an unplayable slideshow. 1080p is also very blurry. The GPU requirement for 4k60 is as follows. These are post patch tests with RT and DLSS off.

That sounds like a you problem then.

Yeah, show me how many RT AAA games can run at max 4k60fps without dlss
That's with both RT and DLSS off but the graphics do not personally look amazing (though the level of detail in the world is extremely impressive - night city has such an incredible sense of scale, density and consistency to its visual quality). I'm just surprised a 3080 and 3090 brought to its knees.

I've got a 2080Ti and can run nearly every title 4k60 (or at least close to it).

RT set at max definitely gives the game a "next gen" feel. Too bad it tanks the frame rate even further. I have to lower the resolution to 1080p to play the game with RT AND 60fps. But ultimately this diminishes the IQ too much for me personally.

Perhaps when the 5000 series is released we can finally play Cyberpunk in its full glory :p
