Wo Long Demo Live Now (Xbox & Playstation)

Boss is "amazingly" balanced - his first phase he doesn't have hyper armor at all so you can just stun him to oblivion with attack spamming, but on second phase he get infinite armor so you can't interrupt none of his attacks. From one extreme to another basically. And yes at least bosses seems like balanced to play it like Sekiro, relying on parries and breakng their spirit gauge for that deathblow, because boss in the demo has stupid amount of health if you just attacking him with regular attacks. So yeah similar to Sekiro you can try to dry his health regular way but it will be long and tedious, or you can destroy him in 30-40 sec with a good parrying.

cross gen in a gen that basically uses the exact same hardware.

and funnily enough, a similar architecture as the Xbox

edit: also isn't Wo Long only current gen?
No. That's what I am trying to say. Wo Long is also for PS4/X1 so thats why it looking like that.

Crossgen and Current uses exact same hardware? You trolling yes? tommib tommib GHG GHG kanjobazooie kanjobazooie GymWolf GymWolf someone call an ambulance pls we have a mental case here.

AMD GPU, AMD CPU, same/very similar APIs

by your logic no PC game can ever look extremely forward thinking because there are different graphics cards.

So just because its an AMD GPU and AMD CPU then that means the hardware is the same? Lol. No, my logic is that I know the hardware is not the same. Similar API doesn't mean exact same hardware.... a 12.3 Teraflop GPU that is in the Xbox Series X is 100% a different piece of the GPU hardware than the one in Xbox One. Yes the company is same, but that doesn't mean the GPU is the same :messenger_tears_of_joy:

same architecture, same api, almost the same GPU feature set.

also, the game doesn't even look good for a PS4 game. it looks like a PS3 game that got remastered

I haven't played a better Souls-like game since Sekiro.

Wo Long is miles better than Nioh in every aspect and kills this series in terms of visuals, level and art design, combat system (which is freaking amazing), exploration and freedom of movement, absence of abysmal loot system with billions of items, boring and time consuming inventory managment, crafting etc. etc. etc.

What a plesant surprise and absolutely brilliant new formula with zero needless and boring fat, only what the game really needs and even more cool stuff on top.

Team Ninja, welcome the fuck back!

Game is fucking sick. Adds enough flare to these types of games. Finish this so I can play Rise of the Ronin soon too.

There is still a ton of worthless loot with minuscule differences you constantly find everywhere, what the hell are you talking about?

I wouldn't call it a ton, honestly. Plus, they've made it so it is much easier to tell which loot benefits your build be it weapon or armor and you can just ignore loot based on it's looks for example when it comes to armor sets.
And yeah, maybe in full game there'll be crafting, which we don't know right now cuz demo is limited, but in Nioh I only soul matched weapons and armor and crafted just a few unique armor sets almost at the end of the game, other than that I haven't used crafting at all.

Wo Long is a far better game overall judging by just this demo alone. I only wish that story structure won't be the same as in Nioh where you pick missions on the map and there'll be way more variety when it comes to locations, art styles, color pallets and Photo Mode will actually be useful, cuz Nioh games look abysmal when it comes to locations, art design and color palets and there's nothing there to use Photo Mode for imho.

And of course performance. This game absolutely hammers PS5 right now in quality Mode. I mean, I know it's probably very early build and full game won't be having the same performance problems, but judging by how the game looks and how way more complex environments are in comparison to Nioh games, Idk if they'll manage to fix this without some sacrifices in Quality mode. I think if they'll add 1440p 30 mode, it'll be a nice option to have instead of not really good 4K option with DRS or CBR.

Sorry, too busy playing the fuck out of the demo to give a shit. Imagine nitpicking the graphics of a game when the gameplay is this good.

Gotta say i loved the demo but the one thing that bugs me is that this game could of been the perfect reboot for ninja gaiden, just like how black was to the original trilogy

This might come as a surprise, but FPS are best played with a mouse and keyboard.

This has nothing to do with how fast you can press a button on a controller, the bumpers depress just as quickly as the face buttons and when you have to use your thumb to turn the camera are able to be pressed even faster unless you use your index to press the face buttons. You can also press the bumpers and triggers faster than the combo animations of the character, so yeah, your argument is null and void.

Hmm.. not sure if best game from next year or derivative nioh sekiro hybrid. Possibly both. didn't summon co-op player all demo and made it to the boss, where I died twice then quit. Maybe I should retry and summon.

The combat is exceptional and it's nice to look at. Very much like the morale system. Day 1 buy I think

So correct me if I'm wrong here since I'm trying to learn this.

Normal attack builds up spirit damage on enemies. Then hitting spit attack cashes in the extra damage? Does spirit attack cost anything? What are you spending when you do the weapon skills?

I tried but the controls are not good to me. The graphics are like from PS3 or early PS4. The music sucks. I feel there are FPS dips. The world looks bland.

Spirit attacks cost stamina spirit. It makes spirit damage, but also reducing maximum amount on the left side of the spirit gauge, so you can fill it faster and knockdown the enemy. Basically all actions, beside regular attacks and jumping/running, cost you spirit.

watching the video.... cringe stuff with the enemy animation and AI. 2 dudes talking to each other.,.. his friend fall from the hill dead 10 meters away, they still talking and he doesn't exist.

GoT and the TLOU1/2 are much better when it comes to enemy AI.

Do you know what a demo is? Based on your comment, probably not.

I haven't played it but I find comments like this very strange.

just finished the demo. So nice to be able to do such cool moves and abilities without having to worry about some consumable grease, if the right equipment is attached to the corresponding arm, or if I'm at the right level to even use it to begin with it

I went into this demo knowing nothing about the game.
Do these devs have no shame completely ripping off Sekiro? The red glows, gauges, I mean jesus, even the text and placement of the ui when resting is the exact same.
I just cant play games that are just 100% ripoffs.

Nioh was a big souls ripoff. At first.

Then you play the game for a few hours and they start to add new stuff. By the end game, Nioh had built its own niche in the souls genre and was more diablo than souls mixed in with Ninja Gaiden and combat moves that i have never seen in a game before or since. Nioh 2 took it to the next level.

As derivative as it might feel early on, the developer is extremely talented and they are not going to phone this in.

I really like the graphics. I was shocked at how poor Nioh looked. PS3 quality at best but I understood they were trying to make a 60 fps game. This game looks last gen and I say that as a compliment. Very good lighting and character models. Great looking foliage. I am glad they have finally made a jump to last gen. lol

Combat is very deep and i love how many different things you can do. That said, I am beginning to hate this Souls style gameplay loop of dying and replaying the encounters over and over again. I know the checkpoints in Nioh were never too far apart but I hate dying at a boss or mini boss and restarting my run. This almost feels like a way to pad the game time because im struggling to see why these games simply cant be action adventure titles paced properly. Making this game souls mode is completely unnecessary. Maybe im getting too old for this, but as a fan of the action adventure genre, im done with this souls almost survival take on the genre. We need to go back to DMC style games.

Game looks nice, it plays pretty good in my opinion. Its very fast paced, but I find that its too hard for me. Couldn't get the parrying mechanics to work on time, ended up dying a lot. I'm just not really built for these types of games I guess, my reaction is too slow. Nice to see more games with Wuxia elements though. .

From what I played of the demo so far, the game seems great. I’ll try to finish it soon. Got to that flying boss or whatever it is and decided to try him later after a few failed attempts.

Lemayo filtered.

Nah I'm just kidding. It's actually possible to make that miniboss kill himself if he goes over the edge of the arena.

Oh? I need to try that. I got some good hits in and parried the miniboss a few times, but he eventually overwhelmed me and I just went to bed feeling kind of defeated and intimidated lol.

Just get close and attack him at all times. block/parry when necessary. Don't forget you can summon npc if you have to, the checkpoint is right next to him. I think I got him on the third go because he killed himself kek. Also I'd recommend the polearm over the sword

There's also a door that loops back to him so you can skip it and try it a bit later in the demo when your fortitude level is higher.

Have you been on the game hub and you know there is no inventory management, crafting, enhancing gears or all the Nioh tricks if yes how do you access it? Because we played totally different demo, mine didn't have the world hub ....

I haven't finished the demo, just got to the first boss and decided not to beat him in his second phase and wait for the final game.

In my previous post I already stated that there might well be all this stuff in the full game, we just don't know it yet cuz the demo is limited.

The checkpoint is right behind him, so you can just go around the arena, get the checkpoint and then give him infinite immediate retries.

All of the minibosses in this demo have shrines right next to them.
