Deathloop coming to gamepass September 20

I can barely put it down as I’m enjoying it a lot. Progress feels a little slow as the game seems to be pushing you through each day rather quickly. The visionaries AI seems really bad though. I’ve had one stuck on scenery so he was easily dispatched and another killed by a simple turret hack.

There seem to be quite a lot of mysteries to solve which seem more interesting than killing the targets.

Yeah, DualSense makes the PS5 the definitive version. Available on PS+ Extra.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Yeah, if you make a bee line to the objectives, you miss out on a lot of great world building.

except that the PC version is better and supports the DualSense

(which is actually useable now since this new update because they literally fixed all the things I said made the game unplayable on controller, proving me right btw... so suck it all y'all that denied how shit it played on controller 🖕 :messenger_tongue: 🖕)

This game feels like shit on PC. I don't know what it is. I guess it's their engine. Dishonored 2 also feels really bad on PC.
Anyway, installed it on series X thanks to gamepass and it's pretty and most important, smooth. Now I can finally enjoy this fucking game.

The writing though... ugh.

Been playing this all day. There is nothing more spirit breaking than trying to make your way back to base with two new powers, 2 great new weapons, and a fuck ton of irridium just to die on the way there on your last reprise. Legit brutal. An hour, gone.

Great game, but this has happened twice and it makes me want to hang myself lmao

You can set your reprises to infinite, it's doesn't disqualify you from anything, but prevents loss of time from cheap deaths.

It's funny this game is all about time management, and it doesn't respect your time at all, the loops are fucking dull.

I really want to give this a shot, Dishonored 2 and Prey are some of the most incredible and underrated games to come out in recent times. Not sure if i'll enjoy the flow of this one though due to the nature of its mechanics.

That must be an improvement for Xbox then as I don’t remember that option in the PS5 version.

I think they added a lot of accessibility options earlier this year on PS5, and they're all rolled into the Xbox version by default.

The accessibility suite is pretty good. You even have a great " kill everything with 1 hit " option for when you just want to say fuck it and focus on the story and exploration alone.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Okay, thanks all. I finished it pretty much the first 2 weeks it was out and never went back. They must have fixed some of what were major irritations of mine since.

I thought the same thing, and I LOVE Dishonored and Prey. Platinumed Dishonored 1+2, working on Prey.

This game is just as good (or at least nearly as good). I had severe apprehensions at first, but if you're like me, you'll definitely enjoy it. Stealth is absolute shit unfortunately, but the sandbox options, customization, and gunplay are fantastic and potentially the best of the three (I say potentially due to customization; I'm not far enough to comment on that). Great humor too. It's a fun little action puzzle game.

I wonder sometimes if i'm falling out of love with gaming without even realizing. There are a few games that the majority of GAF seem to love that i find boring and tedious, this game is one of them, Control another.
I found this game boring, tedious, a bit pretentious, and just cringy characters.

Glad some are enjoying it though.:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Arkane's games have never clicked with me. I hate the art style they employ and their character models are hideous. Remedy hasn't made a great game since Max Payne 2.

I prepared myself for this and just accept it as "nothing was lost" this is part of the loop and I learned something new that I can now bring with me next time. It's a fantastic fucking game, though. I had high hopes from reading about it, but totally wasn't expecting to be this good. I was pleasantly surprised when the reviews seemed to line up with the awesome things the devs said about it in an interview I think I posted on here before.

Have any newbies come across any legendary/orange items yet? Purples are quite common it seems but no sightings here of higher.

I started it out on PS5 a little bit less than a year ago, but didn’t get far. So, this time on XSX. After fiddling around with control settings I like xbox controls better but that’s probably because I’m more used to it. Great game and I actually think the writing and VA is fantastic. Playing as Colt and I keep on laughing at his confused rambling and newfound bravado. Good shit. Obviously the game is just another variation of Dishonored but there are also shades of We Happy Few.

Just follow the hints, got a couple of oranges on pc, but I'm starting again on xbox, and this game is just too much fun to play💪

You can also increase the loot rarity in the settings, which makes higher loot items more frequent but at the cost of more powerful enemies spawning with them.

Do you need to do anything to collect these? Was playing last night and there was no alternate outfits for Colt in my game. Maybe it went live today (even though it was supposed to be the 21st)?

I had them last night, just appeared in my loadout after I redeemed the code.

You can do it on the console or the app.

On the console open the game pass app, the perks button is right up front. And they routinely add perks like this for a lot of games, not just first party, so it's worth it to check every now and then.

Actually yeah, there is something off with frame pacing, but it does not make sense on 3900x and RTX3090, that it would "feel" worse than on Xbox. I am talking about the Quality mode, I haven't try any other.

Thanks a lot. I’ve never bothered with redeeming a perk before, so this is helpful.

Just a followup on my previous post. Not exclusively Deathloop related.
Am I the last person to know that FPS Boost actually works over the cloud?
Even if you're on a base Xbox One, you can play FPS Boosted titles at 60fps. Deathloop, Prey, Gears, etc. That's pretty amazing.

Nothing makes a game funner than haptic feedback. Get real. Dualsense is absolutely additive to the game experience, but to make the claim it will be boring without it is just asinine.
im like 40 mins deep in the Ps plus version and haven't really noticed much of anything in terms of dualsense. Maybe just the rumble when walking or something. That and the chick yelling at me thru the speaker on the controller.

It never feels like it to me though. I'm convinced every game is running at 1080p30 even though it's supposed to be on Series X hardware. :/

I just played those games I mentioned. Although they may not be locked, they're definitely running with a 60hz framerate cap.
I suppose it's possible that they prioritize performance based on various factors. Location, time of day, specific game, etc.

Edit: Perhaps I was mistaken about base XBO. It only had HDMI 1.4. While that still should be enough for 1080p60, they might limit that particular machine to 30hz. Is that what you played on?

I play through Edge on my PC.

Surprisingly, they kept the slight rumble during walking/running in the Xbox version as well. I don't recall many other games doing that on Xbox platform.

and it actually doesn't feel that different imo either.

weirdly they didn't use the impulse triggers on xbox tho... 🤷

The first level was cool but I don't think I'm invested enough to keep up with all the clues. All those "cards" or notes the game was feeding me after the mission completely turned me off. It just felt like a lot at once. And the text was tiny.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a (complete) idiot, but I'm not sure it's worth the mental effort.

I would say give it a little more time. The game looks like it's open world / open objective but basically point you to exactly what you need to do next no different than a Call of Duty.

I didn't get a chance to play it on ps5 so i can't compare. I admit, the first few minutes it felt akward, but like any game, I quickly acclimated and have put in way too many hours already. This game is right up my alley as far as gameplay loop. I was also a fan of Arkanes mooncrash dlc for prey so this feels like an extension of that.

Regarding implusle triggers, I feel MS didn't do a very good job in execution with the feature. I generally find them bothersome in any game they are used. That's just my perception as I'm sure others may really like them. I did find it surprising that Arkane kept the walking/running light rumble in there. I could just be missremembering, but I don't recall many other fps using rumble in this manner.

Has anybody ever lost any infused items? I could swear black and blue I infused three purple character trinkets at the end of a day and then they weren't there to choose from the following loop.

the Impulse Triggers can add a ton of additional feedback.
I would for example have a hard time playing Forza without them as they give you really precise feedback for your grip during acceleration and breaking/driving around corners.

also Ubisoft used them quite well in Immortals where you can feel the wind in your fingertips while gliding through the air.

and some shooters used them pretty nicely.
or Watch Dogs 1 was kinda crazy when you used a shotgun it almost felt like the trigger presses against your finger because the rumble was so intense.

same is true in Wreckfest, some cars in that will have such hard rumble in the right trigger it really feels like it's pushing against you

I've seen that happen with at least one or two items, not a rampant issue. Maybe I forgot to infuse it, can't say for sure.

Game's totally crashed on me twice in a row 20 minutes into a day. Just goes to dashboard and have to reload it again. Really putting me off playing it again which is a shame because I was actually having fun.
