AMD lowers the MSRP for RDNA2

AMD has reduced the MSRPs of its Radeon RX 6000 series RDNA2 graphics cards in order to compete more effectively with NVIDIA's high-end RTX 30-series cards as the product lifecycles of both companies come to a conclusion.

The new pricing list was finalized on September 15, and it is now being implemented at big online retailers. The top Radeon RX 6950 XT costs $949, while the RX 6900 XT costs $699. The second is a better buy because it performs nearly as well as the RX 6950 XT but costs $250 less. The RX 6800 XT is now $599, which is $100 less than the RX 6900 XT while being roughly 5% faster. It will cost $549 if you can find a non-XT RX 6800.

MSRP reductions also effect SKUs in the performance and mid-price ranges. The RX 6750 XT is now $419, while the RX 6700 XT is $379. Both cards outperform the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, making them worth considering. The RX 6650 XT retails for $299 and replaces the RX 6600 XT in the lineup. If you can get an RX 6600 XT, it should cost around $239. The entry-level RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 are now priced correctly at $169 for the RX 6500 XT and $149 for the RX 6400. The RTX 40-series "Ada" graphics cards from NVIDIA have already been released, albeit only at the very top end. The RTX 4090 will be available for $1,600 in mid-October. AMD will unveil its new PC range on November 3.

Finally some real price drops. Although it's for 2 year old hardware.

The chart is stating Newegg prices as of last week, not an MSRP change. Consumers lowered the price.

GPU prices for both brands are dropping, but it seems AMDs dropped further.

They should take advantage of the outrageous nVidia prices to try to push RDNA3 boards at more affordable levels.

They'll probably use the opportunity to increase profits as they've done with RDNA1 & RDNA2.

better late than never. Tempted to sell my 5600xt and get a 6700xt
Not a big enough upgrade. Wait for 6800xt to drop in price which should be soon once RDNA3 cards.

It should also be 1.8-2x more powerful than the PS5 and XSX so a lot more future proof than the 6700xt which is roughly 10% faster.

Newegg has had an RX 6500 XT for $169 shipped for a little while now. That’s a great price to performance in today’s market, even given all of the caveats for that card.

Hard to see the path for getting a 6400 at only $20 less than the 6500 though, outside of the low profile application only the 6400 can provide (transforming old office PCs into viable gaming PCs for example, where a card needs to run on PCI-E slot power solely).

Hopefully this means good things for 7000 series pricing. I just hope they don't go as crazy on their pricing as Nvidia did for their 4000 series cards. Right now I have a 5700 XT(bought when it first came out) paired with a Ryzen 3700X so my future plan is to upgrade my CPU to a 5800X3D and to a 7000 series card. Then buy a CPU this Christmas and perhaps a 6800 XT or 6700 XT sometime within the next year or so after both have been on the market for awhile.

probably wiser but i can sell my 5600xt now for 220-230 Doubt i can sell it anywhere close to that later

Does AMD choose the light side or the dark side for 7000. Do they use Nvidia as an excuse to make a $1400 7900xt? Or do they set the price so that someone can spend the same money they did 4 years ago and actually get 4 years worth of upgrade?

I might hold out for the RNDA 3 version of the 6650 xt, but this is tempting.
You mean 7600 XT or a 6650 XT performance level, but with RDNA3 features and efficiency?

I'm 2019, I was about to upgrade from a 780 to RDNA1. I was perfectly content in getting a Vega 56 GPU in performance, but RDNA 1 efficiency and features. I ended up getting 5700 XT, some 30-50% faster. Awesome.

Competition is good. I hope AMD punches Nvidia right in the balls with RDNA3. If not, I'll be sucking Nvidia's teet for another 2 years.
I wouldn't expect ball-busting, more teet sucking.

The top Radeon RX 6950 XT costs $949, while the RX 6900 XT costs $699.
These are the new prices if I don't misunderstand it, so it already seems like an indicator of where the new cards will position themselves, above that, north of 949, north of 1000.
No idea how the 6950 compares to the 30 line and reviews for 40 are not here yet but 70 should be better than their 60 line, but then aim performancewise and then pricewise too way above this price reduced parts...

Last hope Intel...
