Radeon RX 7000 officially coming November.

Scott Herkelman, Senior Vice President and General Manager at AMD Radeon, today confirmed the launch date for Radeon RX 7000 series. The new GPU series based on RDNA3 architecture will launch on November 3rd, so exactly 6 six weeks from now.

The announcement of RX 7000 launch happens just 2 hours before NVIDIA announces its GeForce RTX 40 series, which is an interesting marketing stunt and clear sign that the competitor is ready. The Radeon RX 7000 GPUs codenamed Navi 3X are designed with 5nm process technology and will feature next-generation Infinity Cache, the company confirmed. At least three RDNA3 are to be expected, including Navi 31 with 12288 Stream Processors, more than twice than current RDNA2 flagship GPU known as Navi 21.

Give me a competitive card at a better price, and you’ll get my money AMD.

Of course by the time AMD launches the first of their new cards, Nvidia will have about 12 skus on the market.

I’m hoping they bring the heat, but their GPU department hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt yet.

Given they're letting Nvidia sell 4090's for weeks before they even announce anything, we can reasonably surmise they don't have anything that's even playing in the same ballpark. The $1000 4070 and $1300 4070Ti that Nvidia are calling the 4080's may be a different story, but I don't foresee them coming anywhere close to their RT performance or DLSS 3.0 feature set.

Hopefully the bring the heat. If they aren't going to catch up on raytracing, they need to come with cheaper, more efficient cards.
I'd reconsider my temporary migration to consoles if they do so... I don't care about RT until games start getting designed with it in mind

NVIDIA got the money, resources, talent to brute force the fuck out of GPU's
Intel got the money resources, talent to brute force the fuck out of CPU's

AMD is about ZEN and balance. Price to performance, efficiency. Limited budget, personnel, resources, talent, underdog yada yada....

Nvidia has the problem that it's got too much stock to clear, so they are "keeping" the 30xx series in their lineup and expanding the high end.
Does AMD have the same problem? Or will they just be able to give us a real next gen where people can just upgrade to same numbered/model cards for a similar price.
Nvidia might still be the performance king this gen, but the real fight might be happening in the 1080p and the 1440p bracket, not so much in the 4k, and that's where AMD can get in.

AMD just seem too timid with GPUs. They don't launch until After NVidia has launched at the high end. They clearly know they don't have shit to compete and will be launching some bullshit that doesn't even match the low 4080 but finds a home in the 500-800 price range. If they look good in that range, maybe they will win some market share. But they are fucking boring to those who like the cutting edge.

I agree with you, but NVIDIA and Intel got nothing on AMD when it comes to...

Entry level gaming with APU's or iGPU's cause:

NVIDIA brute force GPU's but dont make CPU's
Intel brute force CPU's but have super sucky iGPUs and ARC is meh at best.

AMD need to do better to compete with Nvidia so i hope these cards are good. Nvidia can do what they want right now.

Also Intel need to get their shit together and start releasing proper GPUs. Both AMD and Intel need to bring Nvidia down.

This may have made sense a couple years ago but AMD is not the underdog when it comes to CPU's. Intel has been slacking for years in that department and AMD made their mark with the 3000 RYZEN series CPU's. The 5800x3d released back in April was the best gaming cpu in the market and I wouldn't be surprised if it still is until Intel releases their new i9 and AMD releases their new x3D CPU. Seems like a good amount in this thread are talking as if this is still 2010's AMD, Their 6000 series GPU's kept up with NVIDIA's 3000 series in most games that are 1080/1440p. The 3000 series had the upper hand with 4K games but it's not like it was that far off, Lisa Su is one of the top CEO's for a reason. I own a 3070TI at the moment but there's no way I would be upset with a 6800/6900 XT

I'm expecting super-efficient 3090Ti type performance. Like 15%-20% better performance-maybe, 5%-10% lower cost-maybe, lower TDP, Proper Raytracing without tanking frame rates, implementation of machine learning cores to get decent DLSS 2.x type performance.

Im not expecting anything mind blowing at all. Perhaps something special and unique with Zen pairing, infinity cache, infinity fabric, smartshift, etc.

Wrong.AMD is head to head with Nvidia in performance.only in ray tracing they are a bit behind and that will change for the better for AMD.The 4090 is 83 TFlops gpu AMD flagship card is rumored to be atleast 73.And the news news say that AMD cards can overlock till 4 Ghz they will destroy Nvidia cards in performance.Stay positive AMD will have amazing cards for a lot less money.AMD 4090 competition will be around 1200 Dollars maybe even less.

People say this every generation... and are always disappointed.
Yeah, I remember the last few generations hoping that the cards were cheaper than the 40 series. Fortunately every series has been cheaper prior to the 40... AMIRITE

Yeah at best they will release GPUs with similar-ish performance at similar-ish prices unless their cost base for RDNA3 is so much better than Nvidia's with Lovelace that they can sell it super cheap and still make a beefy profit. However, even then how are they going to stop the AIBs from just selling them at a massive markup (for whatever price they think they can get away with)? The consumer would never see the cost saving even if AMD tries to strategically sell at a lower price to win market share.

AMD has a chance here.

due to Nvidia's weird situation where they clearly renamed the RTX4070 and made it the "RTX4080 12GB" last minute in order to make the high asking price not look like a joke, I think AMD could breach into Nvidia's market share...

IF, and this is a big IF...
if their RT hardware deliver at the very least RTX30 series performance and their memory + raster performance is roughly at the level of RTX40

I think if they can deliver an RTX3060ti competitor that matches it in price (maybe even beats it in price), matches it in RT performance, beats it in raster performance, and has 12GB of memory they could have a card on their hands that could sell really well.

if they do the same with RTX3060 and 3070 tier cards then they really could have a strong lineup.

Nvidia will hold back their mid range 40 series cards until their 30 series stock is gone, and that's the time to strike for AMD

The ball is firmly in AMD's court right now. They have a serious chance to hit a wide open three. Hope they don't brick for real. I hope the reveal is soon since November is a times away.

I've seen similar comments a couple times. What makes the RTX 4080 a "4070" or "4070 Ti"?

the 12gb 4080 has less cuda cores and is significantly slower compared to the 16gb 4080
the 12gb version doesn't even use the same die as the 16gb model
the 16gb uses the 102 and the 12gb uses the smaller 103

they simply called the 4070 the 4080 12GB in order to make the price not look as bad at first glance

Give me a GPU that beats the 3090 Ti across the board (raster + ray tracing) for $700-$800 and I’d be very interested.

Still need to see how well DLSS3 works and if AMD has any answer to that, though.

Holy shit, what a wet dream you had for a moment there.

"Destroy Nvidia", "lot less money"
RDNA 2 already proves you're out of your goddamn mind if you think AMD will price a card that as you say "destroy" the competition for "a lot less money".

Let me explain.Nvidia has a great name when it comes to graphic cards. The 30 series and RDNA2 were head to head except in ray tracing were Nvidia was clear better. But even being head to head Nvidia is still wildly preferred by fans.So even when better the sales will be still very poorly against Nvidia cards. It is in AMDs best interest to get as many sales and a great mindset as possible.AMD has to be way cheaper atleast 200-300 to have a chance if they want to move many cards.I think AMD will have better performance and energy efficiency and will be cheaper.Nvidia will have better ray tracing and be more expensive. And Nvidia will still be king in sales.

I repeat : They-had-that-opportunity-with-RDNA2

There's no quantum universe magic here where they get 4GHz, MCM on board with more complex communication buses between them with reduced efficiency compared to monolithic, "Destroy" competition and be way cheaper. There's no catching Nvidia pants down on that level, especially since they use the same foundry now. Had they stayed with Samsung..

AMD would have to cut into their margin significantly. As i said, they also had a nice product and opportunity to do that with RDNA 2. They didn't. Had they cut ampere by $200-300 like you hope this new series will do, we would (or should i say should) have totally different GPU market share today with Ampere being at the bottom.

I'm just saying, you're setting this up for a HUGE disapointement. AMD's not running business for fanboy wars with AMD:"Omae wa mou shindeiru" Nvidia:"NANI?" anime moments.

I stated the news they were the ones who said reached or can reach up to 4 GHz.
There is a important point which gets often overlooked. The win margins of high end gpus are huge like phones or clothing.A Levi’s jeans is made for 5 dollars maybe not even that but sells for 70-90 because of the names Levi’s .Apple iPhone production costs are like 200-400 and they sell for 1200-1500 I know few dollars shipping costs the few dollars store takes like wallmart. An high end gpu from AMD or Nvidia to make is probably around 300-600 somewhere.let’s say per unit shipping 20 dollars let’s say Walmart gets 200 dollars let’s say 100 dollar other costs.that would be on top of 600 800-900 dollars Nvidia sells 4090 for 1500 dollars and I told the numbers extra high Walmart probably never gets 200 per unit sold and shipping .I know there are Research and development cost for the series but in amd case should be very low because it went to the overall rdna 1,2,3 and amd does not put intel numbers into r and d of their gpus wouldn’t have the money to do so.If AMD want they can cut the price they make most money from cpus and other so Gpus is not major problem. They have a great opportunity know that Nvidia is so expensive. Now is the chance to get the money over volume not premium sells.Volume is better because people will think better of Amd in the future after having a great GPUs which will later translate to not only volume but premium volume sells after people are happy with there GPUs.

They didn't really have that opportunity with RDNA 2 since 7nm is more expensive than 8nm, and Nvidia got great density on 8nm. This time around, a substantial portion of the transistors will be on 6nm, and the GCD in Navi 32 is rumoured to only be 200mm^2 on 5nm. Also Navi 33 will be on 6nm and if we believe the rumours, is only 200mm^2. So Navi 31 may not be able to compete hugely on price, but Navi 32 and 33 have better chances.

I don't think anybody is expecting brute force power of the RTX 4XX series towards RDNA 3. At the same time, I don't think there will be a missed opportunity with RDNA 3. I think it will achieve the balance between price, performance, efficiency. I don't think gamers will be disappointed. It will hit the sweet spot.

Will see, I expect AMD to not have a competitive top end, given their strategy here seems to be to distract and bluff instead of actually show us their cards.

Normally I always steer towards ones that I had experiences with... like Intel and Nvidia - but with 40 series and its price... I'm looking forward the AMD solution and what they have to offer..., and most of all - actual performance analysis for both side before I jump in.

I'm only mildly hopeful. I could see them undercutting nvidia by $200 in each of the segments but that's also about it.

I'm less worried about driver issues this time around though. DX11/OGL are mostly out of the picture now which makes their cards far more attractive than they were.
