Two months without consoles

I'm in the process of moving and due to some travel I have to do over the next six weeks, it meant I had to pack up my PS5, XSX, gaming PC, and OLED Switch today. I probably won't be in my new house until the end of November, which means I'm facing two months without consoles.

All I'll have is my MBP (with a paired XSX controller), iPad, and a Switch Lite for the next two months.

As all my Switch games are packed away in storage, I could only carry 8 in my Switch Lite case (not counting my digital library where I have stuff like Bayo, Mario/Rabbids, all the MH games, and Panic Button's amazing ports):
BOTW
Mario Kart
Dread
Splatoon 3
Super Mario 3D World
Xenoblade 1
Pokemon Sword
Live A Live

I can play Cloud gaming great on the MBP, so if anything hits GamePass and streaming I can play that. And I will be able to play the Dragonflight pre-patch as well as LoL.

But I won't be able to play COD, Ragnarok, or any of the big console games until Thanksgiving week at the very earliest, or even into December.

So GAF, would you be able to do without high-end consoles or PC gaming during the biggest time of the year for releases?

All you need is a pack of cards and a bottle of bourbon.

Same. Moving soon and probably gonna be at least a year before I get my PC, PS5, Switch, OLED TV set up. Maybe longer. Gonna be roughing it that whole time. Mainly cuz my living space is probably going to be maybe like 300 sq ft max during that time.

My current house is being fixed up to sell while I’m flying coast to coast for six weeks and then I move 2000 miles.

I think having a switch should help immensely. Especially since the battery lasts a decent amount of time, and can be played in table top mode or handheld mode.

I have four Switches but I’m taking the Lite because the form factor works better on a plane.

CoD MW2 sucks anyways, Ragnarok is just DLC, Starfield ist postponed - only callisto might worth your money OP. And that comes out in december.

not tag worthy
I own a switch
3DS
And nes mini
I have enough to keep me going games wise.
The switch is my main choice, single player games are my preference with some multiplayer couch co-op games

Well, yeah? Those big releases won't go anywhere.

There's plenty of times where I go without gaming at all for several months. I have other hobbies that keep me plenty busy.

Yeah. I could make do with just Nintendo handhelds and xCloud for big releases.

There’s tonnes of cheap stuff regularly going on sale on Switch. Hades, Streets of Rage 4, Hollow Knight, Portal 1&2, Ori 1&2, Dragon’s Dogma, Civilisation, Yooka Laylee and the Imposisble Lair, A Hat in Time, Neon White etc.

As for playing the big releases, I’m only just playing Elden Ring now despite buying it on Xbox and PS on launch day. I’ve not even started Forbidden West yet despite buying it on launch day.

You will survive with the Switch only. It is still remaster festival for current consoles anyways so you will not be missing much.

Small form factor gaming(13-15 inch) laptop will cover the most bases.

I'm sort of in the same boat - having to get rid of the bulky hardware and pick something more compact for travelling. Problem is I can't decide on a gaming laptop of some variety or go with a Macbook. I don't know why I want a Macbook, it's not like I do anything creative but they just seem really cool devices with the M2 chip now.

I recently sold my 3080 FE card and currently enduring the daily agony of using the integrated graphics of my 9900K.

Maybe put down the controllers for 2 month and take a break from gaming.

Start a new hobby or read more during this chance to get away from it.

I'm not having a go, I'm just offering a different idea. Absence makes the heart grow fonder after all

I went through that exact same scenario a few years ago. Playing video games was the last thing on my mind.

Lol the cloud saves the day, take that cloud haters. I have the mb air with the m1 but dont play games on it though, since gaming on mac has always been lol. Hopefulky you have a mbp with the m1 chip from what i understand its a pretty decent gaming device and youll get better quality than streaming.

I've not gamed since last June.....don't feel I've missed much tbh.....I'm still not sure if I will jump into next gen at all,but it also kind of feels like next gen hasn't actually started yet.If great games start dropping I may well become more interested again.

Pikmin 3 deserves some love.

Sosokrates

Report me if I continue to console war
Why dont you use these 2 months to have a break from gaming, so after 2 months you will appreciate gaming that much more.

Maybe read some books in the 2 months.

ManaByte ManaByte whats the reason for packing the switch oled but traveling with the switch lite? Is space that much of a premium?

I picked up a switch lite and those buttons are SO tiny in my hill giant hands.

I don’t buy the latest AAA releases because games aren’t worth $50-$70 to me. So yeah, no problems at all not playing the new AAA junk.

But you’ve got access to Game Pass and have Switch’s new release, so you’re not really struggling at all.
