Campaign only port of Halo 5 in the PC MCC?

Happy with a Campaign only port?

343 has already stated that Halo 5 wont be ported to PC in the near future. Which makes sense as not only i the game huge (in terms of file size, ~100Gb) but it was built entirely around the Xbox 1 ecosystem and porting it would be massive undertaking that's probably not worth it.

But i was thinking though. As someone who enjoys Halo for its writing (yea, im kinda strange) and who sees multiplayer as mostly just a bonus. I for one wouldn't mind if they just included the campaign from it as that would probably take much fewer resources than porting the entire multiplayer portion. Hell, they could even just remake the thing in the Halo Infinite engine and include it that way. Making no porting whatsoever necessary.

Voted “would be nice” but only after they sort out their issues with Halo Infinite

the game is already ported over, simply in a really barebones and terribly mouse/keyboard optimised way way. I don't think porting over the rest would be much work.

I mean, the old games were built entirely for even older systems making the ports probably harder but they did it anyway. As shit as I hear it is, it'd be nice to have all the games and not have to youtube the story you missed. They don't even have to include it in the MCC, just sell it separately for 30 euros.

Where? I mean an actual port rather than just having the Xbox versioned streamed through Gamepass.

after binge playing 1 2 3 4 reach and watching 5 on youtube
nope dont bother with that
even 4 was lackluster. bungie games are fantastic. 343... just suckz.
infinite is largely better than what 4/5 seemed to be however. but then multiplayer went sideways

look in the store on PC, it's called Halo 5 Forge.

it's the full forge mode and full access to custom games. with crossplay to Xbox and all.
it has a custom games browser so you can join other people that are hosting lobbies or you can make private matches.

it's basically Halo 5 without matchmaking and without the campaign

I can only think that Gears 4 and Halo 5 are some of the most horribly optimised games in existence to hit 100gb each.

As to OP; I thought the MP was decent and Warzone Firefight excellent. Single player was meh IMO.

I think 343i likes to ignore Halo 5. I believe it was the most financially successful Halo release for its time, but it devastated the IP and the studio. Once 343i finishes it’s studio rebuild, I suspect we’ll never hear of Halo 5 again.

The Xbox One uses x86 and DirectX, how the hell could it not be ported to the PC which also uses the same technology?

I would like to know what's so specific about it and the xbox one ecosystem when the likes of Quantum Break and Ryse are on PC just fine.

I'm just now learning it's not already on PC? I would only play the campaign. May not finish it but I'll give it a try.
I didn't finish the new Halo Infinite campaign, needed to make SSD space for games that were FUN so I deleted it.

But the best thing about Halo 5 was the multiplayer.
If it was released as a full package on PC and got the Warzone servers active again, I would jump right back in.

I've read somewhere that they wouldn't be able to put it into MCC because it's a different engine and stuff. It would have to be a standalone release, which makes it a harder sell as a campaign-only port (because campaign wasn't very well received), and they probably wouldn't want to make a full port with the multiplayer component because it would put it in direct competition with both MCC and Infinite. Bad idea overall, especially since Infinite is already struggling to retain a player base so putting out yet another Halo game on next-gen would likely serve as yet another detriment to that game's commercial performance.

The only good thing about halo 5 was warzone and MP and forge. Grabbing only the campaign which is objectively the weakest part of the game is hella strange my guy. If they’re gonna do it at all might as well go all out. It would give MCC even more legs which I think is enough to justify doing it. If they make it a standalone game with infinite and MCC existing would just not be wise. But adding it to the MCC like a few years from now would be great. I’d definitely play it with a bigger population, that games multiplayer was seriously slept on. Played it damn near the entirety of the xbone gen alongside gears 4/5.
