I think that's a stretch even if yes, devs are hyping up.

I sure hope that's not true lol, if so I will have to drop my replay at God of War at the second, to play the GOAT in a new shiny forme for the billionth time.

So the real question is, if I bought the base version for ps4 back in the day, will that get the free upgrade…or is it only for people who bought the complete edition?

Yes you get upgraded to the complete edition with all the dlc for free

Shadowdropping this today would be god-tier but somehow I doubt they would use an investor's call for such a milestone.

They have already done it a couple of times.

Edgerunners update was shadowdropped one day before the presentation of H1 2022 results to investors, and I believe they've done the same for a previous big patch of Cyberpunk in 2021

Just a release date. They want cyberpunk to get all the sun it can first and then drop the goat. Ride the goodwill wave all the way to Phantom Liberty expansion.

That's a stretch

Maybe CDPR is hyping it because they will be able to say A LOT of good news to investors

20 M copies sold + 1 million players each day for the past weeks is huge

MAYBE they will announce more support for Cyberpunk, like multiplayer or more DLC

100k on Steam alone is a huge playerbase that they should take advantage of. Multiplayer would make sense.

Some of you are acting like the year is ending in three days or something. There's shy of 3 months left, ya doofuses.

I can imagine how this might go.

*Guys It's 20 December, there's still a few days to go*

I hope I'm wrong for what it's worth.

We are not even sure what's the scope of this "remaster". I have a strange feeling it's just ray tracing addition + some high quality textures.. But then it wouldnt take so long to release i guess? What else they can do with this engine? It's not like they are rebuilding whole engine for this either because it would be a remake then.

Given the 2.5 year wait...I want more than that. And I doubt 2.5 years of work will amount to literally just a 60 FPS version. It'll be something special, I think.
I don't have really high hopes, but I do suspect it will be better than expected. Between the amount of other games getting delayed, new gen, and the show, they stand to make a ton of money if its good.

I think you got DLC and expansions confused. It does not confirm anywhere that expansions will be free with that next-gen upgrade, which you suggested in post above. They will just add some free DLC(armor/swords) inspired by Netflix series.
Like i said before the main cdpr PR person confirmed on Twitter the base game gets upgraded to the complete edition for free if you want you can go dig through 2 years of Twitter to find the response

This has been known information for like 2 years. The next-gen update will be free for all owners of the old-gen version. There’s no need to link it. It’s the same information as knowing the existence of the next-gen update. Both are confirmed.
Who's saying the next-gen upgrade isn't free?
