After Part 2. My hype for the next ND (single player) game is practically none existent.

But I am very curious if thet will be able to fully achieve the potential for Factions in the launch window.

Should have allowed 2 selection OP, Naughty Dog is 2 teams, not 1.

The Last Of Us 3
Space linear action adventure title with dark narrative (Amazon is selling air aka Amazon Air) lol

Fuck the rest.

Let Uncharted 5 get made by a different team, new character could give 2 shits if Drake dies, his arc is done, move on.
Jak and Daxter remake by Bluepoint games.

a game that doesn't rely on context sensitive platforming, doesn't have a single forced slow walking sequence, doesn't have fake puzzles and fake obstacles, and doesn't have a stealth system.

sadly, I think my wishes will remain unfulfilled
You have other games to play. :D
And you realize that in any game you pick up, you are simply pressing buttons on a controller? There hasn't been a game invented where in the game you go. :p Just kidding.
You won't like every flavor of a game and that is perfectly OK.

yeah but the second one will be likely busy with the online gaas game for years if everything goes right

Thats not true though, Uncharted 4 had MP, The Last Of Us 1 had MP, neither of those teams STOPPED making a game for MP, thus they have a team what works on that.

The small team that did the MP for those titles is merely working on Fractions, but I see no evidence 1 of those 2 teams simply just did MP, as you would have to explain how we got Uncharted 4, Last Of Us 1, 2 etc So I don't see enough to support any of that. So I'd say the networking team that is working on that MP portion of Last Of Us is simply doing taht GAAS title and the team that did Uncharted 4 is likely working on some new IP or something.

What time is it?
The Last of Us didn't need a sequel and after playing the sequel, I wish it hadn't. But if they wanted to stay in that universe, you know what worked well? Left Behind. How about a game full of vignettes? The downfall of Bill and Frank's relationship. How Joel and Tess partnered up. How Henry and Sam lost their family and ended up on their own. Marlene's rise up the ranks of the Fireflies. David before the outbreak. There might be less of a chance of this because of the show, but I think it would be interesting. Like I mentioned, we've already seen how well this was done with Left Behind and some of the best parts of TLOU2 were the flashbacks (Joel and Ellie at the museum).

Hmmm what do I want the next naughty dog game to be?

but this MP project is on a totally different scale, possibly their biggest game ever with story campaign of sorts and ongoing live service support. I mean we can speculate all day till we hear more about it and how much the studio has grown in size since Part 2.

Give TLOU a break, no new Uncharted. New grounded IP. Neil mentioned Punisher and Cowboy Bebop, Bebop would be cool, bounty hunters in space. Jazz, gore. I'm in.

That is true, but I feel even with the studio growing, for all we know that MP studio is their new 3rd studio or something and the other 2 are continuing their single player titles.

Hopefully they are not gonna split the team in 2 to make 2 games, unchy 5 can go fuck itself, no one wants to play as the bisexual non-binary nate's daughter with 7 different pronouns for every day of the week.

Make the whole studio work on a real nextgen big title, manpower and budget are NEVER enough for AAAA games.

Finish factions and start working on your next big single player project for the end of the gen, we can wait.

we don't need another TLOU or Uncharted game. i think they will do a game with a new setting but it's still be the same old Naughty Dog game underneath.

you'll navigate basic obstacles through platforming. i can't wait to push around bins/carts to reach a broken window/hole in a wall or to throw a rope over pipes to climb up or move a large piece of wood to walk over or to crawl/squeeze through tight spaces. there will be the usual stealth sections where you need to get around the evil bad guys and you will have shoot outs with multiple waves of enemies.

but hey at least there will be cinematic cutscenes and pretty graphics.

they should really try something new instead of sticking to the same old formula and just slapping a new setting/characters over it.

The lack of love for Jak and Daxter hurts my heart.

They had no ideas, so they let it go.

They did work on some 4th game, stalled, couldn't get any huge ideas and moved on. I'd rather us get a Jak and Daxter game that they really, really are behind cause its a great idea, not just for the sake of it. So if its gone, I'm ok with that, let them bring it back when they have something interesting to do.

Don't we already know it's a new fantasy IP?

The lack of love for Jak and Daxter hurts my heart.

I love J&D, but why would you want 2022 Naughty Dog to make a new Jak game? The guys behind J&D left after 3. Naughty Dog moved on a long, long time ago.

That would be amazing much later down the road after Part 3 wraps things up and everyone likely just ends up dead... 5-6 hour long flashback episodes of this quality, coming twice a year. The perfect future for PS+ Premium.
Hey Jimbo you reading this?

Cancel factions and start working on your next big single player project for the end of the gen, we can wait.
Fixed.

ND games take 3 years to make. If they are moving to their next title after shipping TLOU last month that gives us a holiday 2025 release. If TLOU mp ends up taking away resources from the SP, we might be looking at 2026 or 2027. Fuck that.

I was going for the realistic route, they are not gonna cancel factions...

If they end by mid 2023 we can have another big single player game by the end of the gen, the swan song of the ps5 (and possibly the first 720p game on ps4 if jimbo is that much of a greedy fool as we think he is)

Don’t forget they no longer want to crunch either because of the constant shit they get from the media for working hard.

So add an extra year. 4 or so for an original game, less for a remake or port.

Part 2 shipped 2020.
Uncharted Collection and TLOU Part 1 took 2 years. 2022 both.
TLOU Online probably started around 2020, +4 = 2024

And Druckmann’s game probably entered production this year after Part 1 shippped.
So 2022 +4 = 2026. TLOU Part 3 or a new IP who knows.

There’s their 2 new PS5 games. 2024, 2026. Then some PS5/6 cross gen Uncharted or whatever in like 2028.

Maybe a Part 2 remaster port at some point next year idk.

I think that factions is a 2023 game and they probably are gonna move some manpower on the next project when they are close to release if everything is respecting the schedule.

Fucking tlou remake robbing time to far more important project...

They have nothing for 2023 except spidey 2 and horizon nobodyaskedfor edition.

Tjey fucking need factions.

I'm okay with waiting until the very end of the gen for their next game, i don't want any half assed 2-3 years in development for what is gonna probably be their biggest game ever, 5 years of development at minimum, or bust, i'm ok with a 2028 release.

We have so many games to play in the meantime, we are not gonna starve.

Simply promising “a big update” on The Last of Us Online in 2023 doesn’t sound like it’s coming out next year.

Wait a minute, they are gonna give some news during next summer? So like 9 to 11 months to only get a big news?? How can he make an announcement for such a distant date? Isn't unusual?

Or i'm reading the whole thing wrong?

Well...2029 it is, probably also on ps6.

Part1 was officially announced less than 3 months before release date. I'd not dismiss the idea TLOUMP coming late 2023 just yet

I recall in the early parts of the original Last of Us, there was a movie poster at a bus stop, featuring a werewolf.

I want that.

I would like to see them work on a different genre entirely.
Wouldn't even care if they use same IPs. Give me a X-com style version of TLOU or an Uncharted Metroidvania or even a Jak and Daxter Rhythm game.

Like all PS Studios have been growing and will continue growing. According to Druckmann they are working on multiple projects in addition to the announced ones. Hermen also mentioned that their goal growing the studios was to follow the Insomniac way of working on multiple big projects. Insomniac works in 3-4 projects at the same time.

I think they'll end having these teams, if still don't have them:
  • MP team: People who did MP modes in Uncharted and TLOU games, now working on the TLOU MP GaaS title that would release next year. After it they could do an Uncharted MP GaaS title and will continue releasing seasons of stuff for the TLOU game.
  • Uncharted team: next one would be Uncharted 5 with the codevelopment help of some external studio as could be Bluepoint, could be under production continuing the work they suppossed to start years ago on a spinoff codeveloped with Bend. Could be released on 2024 or 2025.
  • TLOU team: next one would be TLOU3, maybe now in preproduction or early production, to be released in 2026-2027 and would be a launch crossgen PS6 game.
  • New IP team: here's where I think Druckmann is focused now. The project would also be at preproduction or early production with also plans of 2026-2027 and a PS6 launch crossgen release.
  • Small team to support smaller external outsourced projects as would be TLOUP1 PC port, TLOU2 Director's Cut (PS5 version+later PC port), Nathan Drake's Collection PC port, Uncharted VR and TLOU VR outsourced games (to people like Firesprite and others).
Part1 was officially announced less than 3 months before release date. I'd not dismiss the idea TLOUMP coming late 2023 just yet
TLOUP1 was only a remake, mostly outsourced to Sony VASG. Remakes/remasters/PC ports are typically announced months before its release.

Recent Sony big ass games are typically announced like around a year or a year and a half before their planned release, with a few exceptions like Wolverine. They already were working on this game before TLOU2 release and did help of Bend. I think a late 2023 release is possible but a 2024 release I think it's also possible.

I hope for something completely new. But if they WONT then I vote for last of us part zero. I want to see the entire story with joel/tommy after the daughters death. This will invariably lead to the meeting of bill and all of joels favors etc as well as meeting tess. They could make a 30 hour epic out of this. PS5 ground up.(for real this time) lmao
