Xenoblade Chronicles 3 |OT| To Guide The Dead is My Lot

Finished the game. I felt the chapters after 5 just went downhill. The main villain was poor, and the boss of chapter 5 just works a lot better. Other than that, the game also was a little too long, with some needless filler.

The good stuff is the writing, the music and the exploration. I enjoyed my 150+ hours overall. Don't think I'll bother with going back in to finish off the loose ends. XB1 is still my favourite overall from the three games (didn't play X).

Anyway, see you in XB4!
Yeah it started to drag big time toward the end, and the side quests got a lot more generic. And my goodness did the final chapter devolve into an endless corridor. Good grief. Also if you die anywhere during the protracted boss fight you’d have to restart waaaaaay back. Thank goodness I was over leveled. Oh, and item gathering is so completely pointless.

Loved the game, loved the ending (just finished). It’s also hilariously bad how the frame rate and resolution plummets the further into the game you get. I swear at times it’s 240p blurry.

Here I sit in the dark room, watching the end credit 140 hours after beginning my adventure. And once again I feel empty inside. Not many games can move me deeply, but MonolithSoft has done it time and time again. I wonder how they do that.

While this story did not reach the heights of part 2, it was still a satisfying narrative to finish the trilogy. The ending was great while I'm not completely sure if I understood Z's true being.

A masterpiece once again. I'm already eagerly waiting for the next part. I think this is my second favorite of the series, right between 2 and 1.

Just started, a few hours in. Completely new to the series here, but I did watch a story recap of the previous games to get up to speed. Seems pretty good so far and the game does a great job of easing you into the combat.

If I have one major complaint so far is that it looks a bit too blurry in portable mode even though docked it's not that bad, no idea what's going on there but other than that I really just want to keep playing. They've done a great job with character models and voice acting (at least Japanese).

Yo... How do I even beat this. I haven't been op for the whole game, and I just increased my lvl and still nothing

I didn’t really had issue with this fight, my suggestion is make all your party target one enemy and concentrate on killing those foot soldiers then go after Levnis.

I die way before they do, I've tried all sort of combinations. Until here, I was right at a constant lvl, like they are 46, and I'm 47 for example. I now went up for a the first time in a camp to 50 and still nothing

Large group of enemies can sometimes be tougher than bosses especially on hard difficulty. Do you have Fiona's class? have her as your 7th party member and equip her class to one of your party members because they gonna do a good job buffing your party in order to have better chance of surviving.

My trick for large group enemies is spam Interlink. When the battle begin, do interlink for all party member and spam AOE arts. It helps a lot.

One more tip for large group of enemies, equip your defender tanks with diamond accessory (or saphire if u don't have diamond) and give them AoE attacks. This makes the tanks do very high damage to the whole crowd, so they can draw all the enemy attention since they're good at defense. Otherwise the crowd kills non defenders quickly (on hard difficulty at least)

Just beat the game. I am a bit mixed. I was loving the game up to chapter 5 and then... I don't know I just kind felt like things were off. I'm not sure how to put it but overall I did enjoy the game. Well at least now I have 19 pages of this thread to catch up with. :messenger_sunglasses: Still have a few quest I haven't completed yet and some colonies I need to max level level but I'd say I got a whole lot out the game 274:43 worth to be exact and more to come! :messenger_winking:

Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat. I love the other 3 games dearly. While this one is great and I like it a lot, I'm not getting the same incredible connection I felt with 1,2 and X. Maybe I will when I finish though.

I've actually stopped playing in chapter 7 and I'm waiting for the DLC with the new character and challenge arena. Part of why I love XC2 so much despite all it's problems is I played it years after release with tons of added content, great characters like Corvis, Crossette and Poppibuster, as well as DLC challenge arenas with rewards.

TUNIC was ported to switch recently so I'm playing that right now while I wait for the DLC and it's awesome. An isometric Zelda Souls where you find pages of the game's manual as you explore and hints and secrets are scribbled on those pages with pen. Very cool idea.

Ok so I finally beat the game today, way later than expected but I had some things going on that prevented me from playing as much as I wanted. Anyway.

I think it's my favorite of the series and probably in my top 3 Switch games, arguably the best exclusive on the system. It's an amazing game in many ways but mostly in its overall tone, themes and general atmosphere. I've searched for words to describe it but could only come up with "elegant". As much as I love Xenoblade 2 it's hard to deny it was quite a gaudy, sometimes ridiculous game but 3 is the complete opposite. It deals with a lot of tragic situations but always does it with a lot of restraint and the result is an emotionally very powerful game. The atmosphere is also much darker, to the point it sometimes reminded me of the Nier series, which previous titles did a bit (the land of Morytha is an obvious example) but never to that extent. The OST obviously does a lot to evoke this comparison, with one of the very first themes setting the scene appropriately: Everblight Plain is an incredible piece, plunging you right away into the characters tragic lives and making you understand this isn't going to be a lighthearted trip.

Speaking of the characters, I found all of them likable and felt for their plight in ways that basically never happend in the other RPGs I've played. I don't think I've ever liked a main hero/heroine duo as much as Noah and Mio, but the other main party members are also remarkably well realized and even the tertiary characters like the heroes are strong. The writing is of course excellent but praise should also be given to the directors of the numerous cutscenes because they're all of exceptional quality and greatly enhance the whole package.

Gameplay wise the game does a lot of good things to fix the annoying issues of 2, with far less cumbersome exploration/traversal mechanics and individual quests. Gacha is also thankfully gone and combat has also been simultaneously streamlined and expanded to the point the amount of options at your disposal can sometimes feel overwhelming. I'm not that good at it but I'm sure there're ways to create absolutely busted combinations with all the different classes, heroes, items etc.

Finally an assessment of the game's qualities obviously wouldn't be complete without mentioning exploration and world design. Simply put Monolith Soft demonstrated once again they're the absolute best in the industry when it comes to crafting interesting worlds to explore. I've seen some people claim the environments in 3 were inferior to those in previous games and I can't disagree more. The variety of biomes, the way the world lays itself out, the mindboggling number of secret areas (sometimes entire subregions) you can find if you're curious enough, the sense of scale and coherence of the entire map, very few studios manage to do what Monolith routinely pulls off. That being said I'd lie if I said I was entirely satisfied with it. During my entire playthrough I couldn't help but have a nagging idea at the back of my mind that didn't exactly ruin my enjoyment but still bothered me and in a way it's not entirely Monolith's fault.

Here it is: this game more than any other made me fully realize the Switch is an obsolete hardware that actively works against its most ambitious titles. I said that Aionios was a phenomenal world but I also couldn't help but think it could have been ever better. I've lost track of the number of times I've experienced a mix of awe in front of the vistas crafted by the devs and disbelief at the literal N64 level textures and geometry on display. This is not a trivial issue, the sense of wonder at the strange beauty of the worlds is one of the key appeal of the Xenoblade series, and it's definitely impacted negatively but the limits of the Switch hardware. I couldn't stop thinking this game deserved more powerful hardware and lamented the still mythical nature of the Switch 2/Pro whatever you want to call it. On a pettier note I also thought it was a shame the animations outside of cutscenes still didn't improve (the way characters start running out of nowhere is still particularly jarring) and I also thought the game was too easy, although it's obviously because I made the mistake of raising my characters levels in camps. That's about it for the flaws really.

Overall, Xenoblade 3 is a masterpiece of its genre and definitely Monolith's best work. It abandons the more shonen anime aspects of the previous titles and even the more philosophical, pseudo-gnostic themes the series is known for are far more subdued in order to tell a much more personal, human centered story. It's a dark, tragic, grandiose game, but it's never nihilistic and depressing, always stressing the importance of hope. I genuinely love it, and can't wait for the DLC.

9/10 would buy again

Really interesting dialogue. Ino ends her speech with mon (Nopon style speech), just like Poppi
Sena wonder why she is blade, because blade are weapon in Aionios. Then Taion suprised because he think Ino is a humanoid blade (weapon).
Yeah, it makes me very interested in her two Hero Quests.

I just can't get into the game, something about it feel bland and boring, during fights I'm on my cellphone because it's so boring.I don't know what's wrong I loved both other Xenoblade games .. .. The story setup is also pretty interesting but the delivery is just so bland. Don't know maybe it is me.

The battle system is pretty bland if you still haven't open all the features.

Today the second wave of DLC arrives. I returned to the game last week and recruited the two post-game heroes (love the little easter-egg they bring to battles) and also have been searching far and wide for areas still unexplored. I'm at level 85, and gaining more levels is starting to finally feel grindy, altough I think using EXP+ meals and farming level 90+ monsters should bring levels quite fast.

Anyway, love this game. Hopefully DLC is as fun as the main game.

Gonna hold off on the DLC until it's known what the story DLC is. With any luck if they go full retail with the DLC like Torna then maybe there'll be a lot of content in it.

My OLED Switch arrives Tuesday. I'm considering trying this game out. Honestly, I was not a fan of XB2 due to the passive combat and voice acting. Would you guys say XB3 is an improvement over XB2 in those areas?

combat is still largely the same, but more busy. voice acting is better, but the battle quote have not much variation.

Dude they added EXACTLY what I wanted.

Now you can press + on the menu screen to save a party setup. There are 3 slots for it.

So you don't have to totally ruin the party you've set up to grind class levels in order and switch to an optimal party when you discover a strong enemy, then go back and go through your the party setting everything up again later.

This is excellent. Unfortunately, it's not that much good to me now cause I'm level 90 and at the end of the last chapter, but it's a great improvement in any case.

EDIT: sry u actually get 15 slots not 3

I managed to secure the Limited Edition from My Nintendo Store, thankfully the serverd held up this time. Now, I'll just have to wait for the package to arrive. Hopefully they'll send it soon, Bayonetta 3 is just around the corner.

I am near the end of xenoblade 1 and will be going straight to xenoblade 3 after. Now that xenoblade 3 has been out for awhile, how does it compare to the others? Is it the best one?

Ok so it takes about 2-3 minutes to s-rank a hard mode challenge which gets you roughly 1500 nopon stone or so which is worth about 3 silver coins. Seems like a pretty good way to max classes
