Microsoft ‘wants its own Genshin Impact-like game’ for Xbox

This is THE LEAST of its problems.

It's actually a GOOD thing, so you're not compelled to farm hours upon hours for artifact stats that will never drop.

Resin may be a symptom, but it's not the illness.
But I'd rather be able to farm for 2 or 3 hours on a week end when I'm decided to farm, listening to a podcast or whatever, or farming with a friend, rather than being forced to do it every day for 5-10 minutes (which I don't anymore).

The cooking is literally a copy of Breath of the Wild. The climbing might as well be the same. Hell, the art style too, just Genshin has boobs and, well, more boobs as the people who pay for it.
Look, i love Zelda franchise (actually the only Nintendo games i give fuck about), but the combat system is nothing like BOTW, and actually nothing like anything else.

This is a false problem.
Again, it's a sympton not the illness.
If the artifact RNG wasn't so shitty, dishonest and predatoy, this would never have been an issue.

From what I've seen of Genshin it would be a bad fit for Xbox. So I'm assuming Microsoft means "a huge free to play franchise". On Xbox it would have to be a shooter or wRPG.
What makes it a bad fit? Where do you people come up with this line of thinking. There is no fitting a game anywere. The fuck.

You have to be some fat fuck living in moms basement to unironically think genshin is good. That game was always shit, one of my friends used to play it daily, then he woke up, saw what he was playing and went to a better game. To praise it like this is a joke

There are better games Xbox could ask for
Someone lost their 50/50 and got a Qiqi.

How so? Phantasy star universe and PSO2 were great additions to xbox as anime MMO’s, so why would this be different?

Ok, so since Sony bought Bungie, are we going to give Sony credit for building the spritual successor to Halo? Exactly! My point is Microsoft doesnt bring new games to the industry like Sony does, rather they buy exclusivity to existing 3rd party IPs. Like for example what this tweet alludes to what they wish to do, or you yourself even suggest they should do, given their past history.

Microsoft is just going after what ever content Sony provides. Let Genshin impact......be Genshin Impact. We have enough clone Tlou, Soulsborne, COD/BF and No man Sky games in development.
Y'all are to caught up on these unimportant details. MS has owned bethesda for 2 years, 2 years of them footing the bill, paying for QA, development etc. It's their game. And the money/sales goes to them. Sony didn't own Blue Point when demon souls dropped, its still their game. And genshin isn't a sony game. Its a third party game they have no involment with other than a check cut. Idc if they make a clone, as long as its good, they have enough solid games in development rn that I do care about.

No, it actually doesn't.
That shows what you really know about the game.

I'm aware that it does have its own mechanics etc. even if some are literally rip offs of other games.

But you really can't deny how hard they push the waifu stuff. I have no problem with sexiness etc., cartoon or not, but almost every single character, and definitely every single playable character is sexualised. If you can't see that... well I think you are beyond help.

I only said the cooking was pretty much exactly alike. And it is. Might as well be the same.

'But it's not a major part of the game!' you'll likely protest. Doesn't matter. Ripping stuff off like that is not acceptable.

And yes, I have played a fair bit of Genshin. The excessive waifu stuff and clear pandering to whales put me off in the end though.

Again, you have zero idea of what you are talking about. They actually have the opposite problem due to the CCP.

Maybe don't talk with this smug attitude about things you don't know? Maybe?

Not sexualised at all.

Got bored of Genshin pretty fast so i can't really comment on what it makes it so successful. The only gacha game that hooked me for a while was Fire Emblem Heroes.

They are, however, buying Activision Blizzard. Overwatch 2 has solid potential to make a lot of money if they do things right.

IKR. It's the absolutely, most tame anime inspired game around. That's the reason for its universal appeal.

The irony here is that a Switch version was promised at launch and it's been 2 years now and no Switch version in sight. The Switch hardware can handle this game so no one knows what's holding that up.

MS should look in the mirror if they want to know why they always miss opportunities from companies not in North America. They basically treat the rest of the world like it doesn't exist, which is a common problem with American tech companies, and then get shocked when America isn't anything resembling the world's largest market for anything anymore. To this day, you still can't play Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox.

Genshin is incredible and really took me by surprise, looks super great, incredible anime style art direction (my favorite with Dragon Quest), very innovative and one of the best combat system in the genre, and one of the best OST of all time.
i could fully sign this except for the combat system. it is just shit. same goes for grinding.
everything else...is just so fucking awesome. the OST is GOAT.

Hum, i think combat is awesome and one of the best aspect of the game (and that's why lot of people are pissed that there is not much end game combat related content outside of Abyss), you sure played it enough to get how it works? you have to at least understand the mechanics to fully appreciate it.

I agree about everything else.

In my opinion, everything just fits. The ost, gameplay, graphics, characters. My only negative (its a big one) is the gacha model. Though, without it, we wouldn't get new content every six weeks.

LOOKS GUY I FOUND A PICTURE! AND OH NO THERE'S WOMEN IN THIS GAME SO IT MUST BE SEXUALIZED AMIRITE GAIS?
Classic blind woke attitude.

They even reduced breast size of one of the characters and they're covering up others (forced change in CN, extra costume in the west), and subsequent design is following that phylosophy.

Again, still talking by hearsay.

Using that pic as evidence of sexualized women is comedy gold.

How are games like Flight Sim, Sea of Thieves and Grounded not new games?

Sony are a far cry from their PS3 peak in terms of creativity, their games now are all reliant on a tried and trusted formula.

I like both, but if anything Microsoft have a FAR more varied line up of games (original and bought), but their quality control is all over the place.

Yeah it's great, it took me time to get give a real shot cause of the "gacha thing", but it can be played a single player game without taking account into the gacha aspects, it start to become really fun once you get 2 or 3 characters that in your taste. Just one is already great start, but since a 4 character team it's even better to have 4.

Here's some (those are just characters trailers, avoid story and update trailers there maybe some spoilers in case you'll really be into the story)

The OST is insane and one of the best ever (i know it's really weird specially for "a Gacha Game", i would not have believe it either if i was told so), Yu Peng Chen the guy behind the ost is already a legend and i'll easily put among the legends such as the Yu Suzuki, Nobuo Uematsu, Yoko Shimomura. I don't want to spoil too much, but once hear songs like Azdhaha and Signora theres you'll get a clue, characters themes post above already are masterpieces btw.

What was the delusion in my post? Due to low activity the PC/PS2 servers of PSU were shut down in 2010.
And you said Xbox users will never care about a game like that.

what year is it GIF

You're talking about a Playstation 2 online game needing to be shut down as if it's shocking news.

It is to me tbh, it's not that far from FF7 (one of my fav OST ever). I mean it's different so i wouldn't say this is better than that, but it's as much as epic.
No, I mean, it's competently made by competent composers and musicians.
It's just very... safe and bland.

The year was 2010, the PS3 was 4 years old. So, it would be around 2024 for last gen in our terms. Also, it was on PC. You also had to pay more as an Xbox 360 user.
Basically 360 population was bigger than PS2+PC, even though 360 users had to pay more. Most importantly I bought this up because of the "Xbox users won't play these games" that someone keeps bringing up.

Were you still a baby back then or something? Because that's the only way I can begin to understand you going off on this strange tangent.

The PS2 had next to no online community to speak of (it didn't come with online capability out of the box) and the PC market wasn't what it is today, especially when it comes to Japanese games.

One of the Xbox 360's main selling points was it's online capability (and the fact that it just fucking worked) and you want to act like this should be some surprising news that it was a more popular place than the PS2 to play an online game?

The 360 also made a serious push to get jRPGs so the audience there may have been skewed from their other consoles.

You love to use this analogy a lot in arguments you insert yourself into. But

I bought and was subscribed to this game in 360.

World of Warcraft reached its peak of 12 million subscribers around that time. You are saying there were less people interested in an online RPG on PC then Xbox 360, during the PC MMO boom age?

Phantasy Star Online had more players in Gamecube than OG Xbox and the Gamecube even had Episode III exclusive to it. Also, Sega never felt the need to port Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst to Xbox 360 after closing PSO servers for Xbox, Dreamcast and Gamecube. Even with better online capabilities and voice chat, the game was not more popular on Xbox than other plattforms, unlike PSU which is always considered a Xbox 360 title.
I never played FF XI, but from the replies it seems like more people played Final Fantasy XI on PS2 than on Xbox 360

I was referring to when the PS2 was released with regard to whether or not you might remember the situation with what online gaming was like on that console. The fact that you're even making the comparison you are suggests to me you never experienced it or even have knowledge of what it was like at the time.

Western MMO's have always been popular on PC on a global basis. Japanese ones (especially outside of Japan)? Not so much until more recently.

If you want to compare a PS2 game's online user base with one from the Xbox 360 then this is a waste of time, final fantasy or no final fantasy (which, by the way was synonymous with playstation at the time so shock, that's the platform it was most popular on). Also... Using reddit as a source? Really?

But hey if you want to keep the dream alive that Xbox has always been this huge platform for niche Japanese games then be my guest.

FYI, Sony's equivalent is Fate/Grand Order. Obviously not an action game but is still a freetoplay lootbox waifu simulator. But owned by Sony Music rather than Playstation.
