COD MW2 surpassed $1 Billion in sales in 10 days

This is the first COD: MW2 I am investing a lot of my time into. I don't know how long I will keep playing but I am liking it. I also enjoyed Vanguard last year. I had pre-ordered it, cancelled it after beta since I didn't feel it, then I got it again when it released since I was looking for something else to get into multiplayer wise than Destiny 2.

The campaign so far is just meh...but you get to shoot things so that's fine. :D

Is call of duty for hardcore or casual gamers?
When skill based match making works properly it caters more to the casuals as you will be put into lobbies your equal skill level.

Most hardcore players hate it because they are constantly up against the same try hards as themselves and they have to work too hard

people acting like thats alot of money

lmao
In 10 days do you think its not?

Fastest selling COD of all time is super impressive

I really gotta pick this one up. I usually buy a new COD every 3 years or so and it sure seems like this one is hitting the mark for fans.

God damn. is this the highest earning of entertainment in history yet? or heading that way? lol

No wonder why Sony is fighting hard not to lose COD to MS..

I honestly think MS and their fans will be crushed if the deal doesn't go through, and vise versa as well to Sony fans.

exciting times ahead. congrats to IW on this, honestly well deserved. the game is so much fun. now, where is my hardcore you bitches? lol.

Its just my 2 cents Sony isn't fighting to not lose COD to MS because if MS makes it exclusive it wont near see numbers like this.

I think Sony is fighting to keep their name on ads, commercials and overall mindshare that Sony would totally lose

If they make a shitton of money with the game, that probably means they are going to support it for a lengthy while. Good for me, I enjoy the game. I hope for a lot of additional content down the road. Free, if course.

Maybe. but who on this planet thinks Cod is a sony exclusive game? IMO cod sells more on Sony because

- Friends have been playing together for years on the PS platform. so stick on the same platform
- HW sales are higher on Sony
- Controller preference

Again you could be right, But I also think the headlines of Microsoft buying Call of Duty is damaging enough to Sony.

At this point fast forward to year 2222... Reocrd breaking year for CoD....

I don't really care about the game itself and am happy people are enjoying it but fuck me if the industry is not creativly bankrupt. CoD has been the best selling game year of year since bloody 2007.

Just like the MW2 commercials I have been seeing during football games at the very end..

Millions of users downloading 100 GB of data to get their game to run, that's actually massive. That's hundreds of petabytes of data in 10 days for a single video game.

I’ll probably buy it on sale… looks good but don’t want to pay $70 on Steam

microsoft will be happy and be itching to finalise the deal!

i haven't enjoyed a cod game since 2010. tried one a few years ago but bored me to death. might pick up this whenever there is a steep sale.

Sony is fighting both to keep its brand marketed alongside the game and to keep the game, above all, off Game Pass.

lol where the fuck are the people that spent all that energy pretending Vanguard was the end of COD?

Yet here we are with the fastest selling COD in history, the deep, deep lolz. 1 game flopping or doing less then a publisher thought, doesn't mean ALL GAMES in that IP will follow the same suit folks. I don't really get why people ran with that narrative as if they haven't see a difference in sales based on past or future wars or something.

Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes lol I just play the traditional MP. Didn't waste my time with co-op, single player and won't waste any energy with that ground war BF wannabe. I tried it once and it felt like shit and just went back to the traditional playlist. It doesn't even properly work because of how COD actually plays, its just a bunch of rambo types on a larger map, taking longer to get kills....

BF just does that concept better as its built for this idea more so then COD, if I wanted that I'd just jump back in to any BF i have installed lol

BF2042 right now is still the thing I'm currently playing for the BF vibes
CODMW2 is what I'm playing for the COD vibes

They both fail in the area of trying to do some different thing. They are better off focusing on those core strengths

After Vanguard and even to an extent Cold War people were needing a decent COD fix.

It seemed Vanguard was having a free weekend monthly to try and lure new players, I bet this COD doesn't do that

They need to put money into new maps. This batch of maps stink. Especially that border crossing one. Whose idea was that?
That map has glitched on me that all the car that could explode were totally gone and the map was a ton more fun with just a few vehicles for cover

It's almost like they should kill off the stop gap CODs and just concentrate on this to maintain the IP better, but they'll never do that, I'm sure next year we'll be back to a shitty sci-fiish Black Ops that tries again to make COD Heroes happen.

There wont be a new COD next year as they are in fact going to a 2 year cycle

Instead we are supposed to get some paid DLC for the current game about this time next year

I'm not a COD fan, but I took one look at Vanguard and knew it wasn't going to go over well with the their fanbase. It just looked phoned in and rushed. MWII actually looks like some effort was put into it, and its on Steam for the first time in a long time. Good decisions from Activision all around.

Honestly my favorite COD in a long time. I enjoyed MW 2019, but I think I enjoy MW2 even more so. I'm looking forward to what they add in the future.

My BIGGEST gripe with this is that I've had more crashes with this than I have had with any other previous COD title I've played on PC. It's pretty wild. If I play for 2 hours, there's almost always at least 2-3 crashes. Maybe it's something to do with Ground War in particular? Unsure. But hopefully all that gets buffed out soonly.

Its hard for me to say, I get its not the modern, futuristic stuff, thus easy to guess it won't do as well as the others, but I also can't just say it looked "rushed"

It merely looked like it was in a different time frame the the other titles and its not for me to say what effort was or wasn't put in. For all we know that team really did their best and got all the team needed and it just didn't work out.

That is ok too. I think MW2 is amazing and the team did a great job, but I can't take anything away from Vanguard's team based on effort, some games just don't do as well and its no one's fault, merely the fan base favors the modern stuff. Even without that games issues i knew it would sell less then MW2019 and MW2.

I do really hope the team continues to do different time frames like maybe the Korean war or something. I understand it won't do MW2 numbers, but I like the idea that they at least try some different things instead of just trying to do a modern or future thing all the time and I say this as someone that loves the modern setting with COD lol I'll probably just move on the BF after this COD and ignore it for another 13 years lol, who knows.

Sub_Level

wants to fuck an Asian grill.
Its a little buggy and unpolished for a cod, specifically the menus, but has still launched in a better state than 95% of western online games.

Tonnes of content and it runs superbly on the PS5. Infinity Ward should be very proud of the product.
