In all honesty I am not a fan of some of his takes / slants, but in terms of straight news he seems to get it right most of the time. So I doubt he is incorrect here. Only way I could see him being way off base would be if plans changed because of the regulatory investigations. But event that seems really unlikely as I don't think Activision would have been making business decisions that treated the closing as inevitable until it was actually closed.

He could very well be wrong but he seems pretty adamant and I too do not like a lot of his takes I do agree when he reports things like this he has a decent track record

Do I care if he is right or wrong? Not in the least

If the expansion content is actually GOOD and meaty as is said then i really can't complain about a large expansion next year. I mean hell how much have i dropped on Destiny 1&2 in their life span so far.

Cause I know it annoys you. And i don't use Reddit, just Gaf.

Oh, and why the change of heart for Call of Duty?
Is that supposed to be an accomplishment ? They literally rehashed the same game with modern trends for more than a decade.

Hmmmm, whatever can it be, I wonder?

I don't really care either. Either way I'll be spending $70 (not really, probably 140 to 170 based on two copies for household and possibly premium version for one of them).
I am actually enjoying this years COD and I will 100% spend $70 on DLC for it but if it is a whole new game I will need to see it first

Yeah I should walk back the guarantee of buying a whole new version too. In case it's Vanguard reskinned (cause that will be on sale a lot).

Overall, I am having more fun with this Duty than any in recent memory.

Pretty funny that you checked my post history but failed to notice that I was still not defending COD even after this deal
I hope they stay multiplat.
Obviously a Paul Tassi headline can serve as a console war fodder to prove a point. Paul Tassi equated this to Call of Duty WWII where MTX dropped weeks after reviews. And multiple quotes from his friend Jim Sterling trying to create fake outrage. And ofcourse this gem
Someone posted on the HaloGAF thread about letting one of the Activision support studios help with Halo Infinite(maybe I can finally find something positive in this acquisition). Since 343i plans for Infinite to be like MCC, maybe let someone remake Halo 5 within Infinite. A remake with Halo Infinite's art and audio direction is the only way I will accept its existence.
And I still play and defend Destiny 2 when you probably would have joined the hate train if Microsoft bought Bungie instead. The only thing that changed was MW II release. This is my first "positive COD post", thats a long time after the acquisition announcement

Between this, Treyarch taking a year off and Sledgehammer Games making Advanced Warfare 2, ofcourse I can't ignore when they are trying to take campaign seriously again. Its hard to believe but back in the 360 days people did care about COD campaigns(like the OG Black Ops trilogy - World at War, Black Ops and Black Ops II), I stopped caring about COD after AW because they stopped caring about campaign.

I'm only echoing your words. It's the same game, different skin. Well now they just use the same skin, same name as 2 gens ago as well.

I guess the billion dollar payday made them reconsider taking a year off.
nah, I don't think that was ever on the table in the first place.

I don't even see any evidence that they'd want to suddenly make less or something. They have a good combo going on and playing the launch of MW2, it might be one of the smoothest launches I've ever played of a MP game to date.

They are correct to stay the course and continue as they are.

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 I'm not saying Jason is lying, but his info is off as they are pretty damn clear a new COD is coming out next year

Jason has also been known to greatly fucking exaggerate for clicks....need I remind people about Sony Bend assisting as a support team for The Last Of Us remake as they assist many Sony teams, he fucking made it sound like THEY where remaking The Last Of Us 1 INSTEAD of making Days Gone 2 to make some sensationalist article that later we find out was riddled with a lot of make believe and half truths. So watch him just say some shit like "oh they are just saying its a new COD, I guess they changed da DLC to a FuLLz GaMeZ nowZ" and fucking act as if he was just correct the whole time or something.

I think he may have known it was bullshit the whole time and is simply waiting to walk it back or pretend mid development it changed into a "full game" as if that wasn't always the plan or something.

Consider AC Mirage started as some DLC to another AC title years ago.

Without a doubt he seems pretty resolute and is doubling down on his statement of it just being DLC

Acti also doesn't help to clarify it with their wording

Honestly, for me personally I would instantly buy a $70 dlc for this current game and it is setting records sales wise

Curious either way to see how it shakes out

they are stating "full premium release", as in not DLC, not expansion, not game as a service content pack and how Jason Schreier is even describing this sounds like he is prepare for some excuse on why its now "suddenly a full game".

He will merely pretend something changed and for all we know its a remake of MW3 or some shit.

Even if its a new campaign, new co-op, set of new maps, on top of old maps from MW2 and $70...

folks..that generally is what a new COD is. I don't even know what we'd be debating that is. Oh its in the same engine and uses the same assets? Yes...like how COD generally does....

oh its the same gameplay doe....

yes.....like how COD normally does.

So if its indeed a new story mode, co-op mode and new MP maps at full price, to question that as a new COD is to question the whole series tbh.

Five years from 2017-21, all but one COD game is WW II/Cold War setting. If the campaign is just serviceable like Vanguard than its all the same. If Sledgehammer Games is really doing Advanced Warfare 2, then you can't call that "same" as say Black Ops. Also, you probably fired that gif before checking my post history, you were not echoing anything.
same name as 2 gens ago as well.
Oh yeah, like every
[Title of the first game in series] (Current Year)
But yeah, "its all same" indeed when you compare MW II to Vanguard
