The Dualsense is a more elegant controller than the xbox core controller.

Lol ok. You can have this one. You started off acting like a condescending cunt and now you are reaching. You know whats easier than inventing a whole host of scenarios to justify one's controller purchase on the internet? Changing two rechargeable batteries.

You were acting like plugging a USB cable into a controller while using it was some unthinkable thing that cannot possibly be done. I argued that it can, as easily as replacing batteries. But yeah, I think we've come as far as we are going to here!

Dual sense is too big. Love the button and dpad feel though. Hate the track pad.

New Xbox controller is a good size. Feels heavier and sturdy. Hate the clicky buttons though. Love that it has replaceable batteries.

Over all for modernish controllers :
Ds3 > Xbox series > dual sense

I prefer the Xbox controller still, I always have. The dual sense is ok though, I quite like the haptics.

Those adaptive triggers are irritating though, I don’t like that at all. Just feels like you’ve got grit or grime stuck in them, not a fan.

It's all about choice Xbox controllers are ok to me. Never did care for features that make you "feel like your in the game". Even if xbox did it wouldn't buy em.

I have both consoles, and to me the Xbox controller feels like a cheap toy. It feels like cheap plastic, the clicks are ridiculously loud, rumble feels like holding a sex toy instead of a controller, and the battery solution is ancient (my preference is the Sony solution). Not talking about all the innovation and sensibilities the Sony controller has on top of those things. I don’t care about stick placement, both controllers are fine with it I’d say.

Seriously though, at night when my kids are asleep I can’t play on the Xbox because the buttons and rumble are so extremely loud. That alone would tell me MS really has to take a hard look at their controllers.

If I look at true value of the controllers I think the Sony controller is worth the price, but the Xbox controller should be like 30 or 40 euros max as is.

Elite controller 2 is the best controller ever made but with the worst quality ever made
Absolutely loved them for a few days till they broke
Had 3 and all 3 had problems.
But the inhand feel is amazing

I hope you meant DS4? That's the most comfortable one Sony has ever made IMO, the DualSense is unfortunately a step back in that regard for me.

If it’s the worst quality it can never be the best ever made 🙂. But I can imagine you feel it’s the best when it actually works

I thought I preferred parallel sticks, but found out that much prefer offset sticks (or parallel upper sticks like the Wii U Pro Controller). And the DualSense hurts my hands pretty quickly.

That said, the touchpad, haptics and adaptive triggers on the DualSense are on another level.

The AA batteries were a shock they still use though

That's a pretty ignorant and silly comment.

Not only have there been good AA rechargeable batteries for years now, but they can be very easily obtained and are cheaper, they can be swapped out in no time.

And if you really want a battery pack, there are those available that fit the AA slot as well. FFS, I had one for my GBA, they're that old (and more).

Not at all the original ds was the best size and layout. The ds3 was the best of that design. The ds4 was a tragedy of design .. poor build quality, big dildo like handles .. too big over all, useless track pad instead of a start / select layout. One of the worst controllers ever really.

The general design they used for DS1-3 was terribly unergonomic. But we'll agree to disagree!

The PS5 controller is way better than the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller feels cheap af,and the buttons are too loud,so I just use the dualsense controller on both

I love these revival controller wars threads.

All these people on here pretending to own both sets of controllers, before proclaiming some revolutionary "win" for their team.

Those that really own both sets don't really care so much.

Honestly, after the gamecube controller, the dual sense became my 2nd favorite controller of all time.

In general, i never liked any dual shock before the dual shock 4, they all felt weird in my hands, DS4 was a huge improvment, and the dual sense feels even better.

Wuth the xbox controllers, i was disappointed with the lack of control quality. The 360 was great, but my xbone controller had drift + faulty dpad. Then my brother's controller got a broken stick.

Been using one of my DS4 on pc instead of getting another xbox controller.

The Dualsense is the surprise of the generation for me.

But what sets it apart from the XB controller, in adition to the haptics and triggers is how quiet that controller is in comparison to the XB controller. That's the game changer for me, personally.

Xbox controllers are pretty much perfect design. I love that I can stick my own rechargeable batteries in it.
Not sure about Dualsense, but previous Sony controllers had crappy battery life, and the sticks aren’t positioned correctly.

Have to disagree, I far prefer the replaceable AA batteries. I have been using eneloop’s for years, far prefer that to the declining charge problems with dual shocks that Sony has simply not provided a solution for other than throw it in the garbage.

The rest of your complaints are simply opinions and you are entitled to them but I disagree.

I seriously don't understand the shortsightedness of preferring a built in rechargeable battery over swappable AAs. Like, you do know they sell rechargeable AAs, right? And that they have WAY more capacity than the shitty 1000mah rechargeable battery you get in these controllers, right? And that with a double pack of batteries, you can keep one pack charged on standby while the others are in use and then when one pair is empty you can swap places and have effectively 0 interruption to gaming? Oh and when a few years have passed and that rechargeable nimh battery lost a significant chunk of it's capacity, instead of having to crack a controller open and by some cheap Chinese knockoff from eBay, you can instead just get another pair of eneloops (if it's even necessary since you have double pairs of batteries to begin with) and keep on rocking and a rolling.

Fuck built in rechargeable batteries. They are a form of planned obsolescence, and they sold it to you guys and you're eating it up. I say this as someone who adores the DualSense and wishes desperately it had accessable AA batteries instead.

The xbox controller wins out simply because of stick placement. Playstation really needs to stop worrying so much about it looking "iconic" and just place the left stick where it makes sense.
That is the worst take one could ever have.

I prefer the modern xbox controller over the dualsense personally. And I liked ds4 better than both. Still use the ds4 for tekken. I hate the dualsense d pad.
DS4 was a revelation as far as game controllers go!

I think the most (only) defining factor is the aptic feedback thing on the DS5, rumble just feels strange when you tasted real aptics in a controller (including the triggers).

They make battery packs for rechargeable controllers that sit on the back just like the xb controllers do with AA. Pass through charging and everything
I sit 7 8 feet from my tv a 8 feet long wire dangling around is premium?
See above. You can also just plug the cable into an external/portable charger if you don’t want to buy a dedicated battery pack

the xb pro controller has this. It’s the only way to have back button’s going forward which are something that will be more common or maybe industry standard going forward.

To make a long story short I just scored a pulse red series x/s core controller on sale for my pc. It is the first time I have held an Xbox controller since my beloved Xbox 360 days.

The controller overall feels much less premium. The AA batteries were a shock they still use those, the analog sticks feel less premium, the trigger buttons are not in the league as the pressure sensitive triggers as the Dualsense, rumble also does not feel as strong, overall just a good controller but less premium. Even the buttons seem less premium.

The core controller is lighter and feels more comfortable in the hand. Just lacks a ton of little touches that put the Dualsense in another league.

Yea, I agree. Comparing the Xbox controller to a DualSense kind of feels like comparing an automobile from the 2000's to a modern car. The DualSense is just far more advanced, feels far higher quality and with a better build, and has new features. Meanwhile the Xbox controller, while perfectly serviceable to drive from point A to point B with, is largely unchanged from more than a decade ago. And just kind of cheap feeling if I'm being honest.

I have had the exact opposite experience than you. I have found the core controller to have a more premium feel, better built and higher quality than the DS5. I also love that I can choose to use AA, AA rechargeable, OEM rechargeable battery pack or wired (I love options and longer lasting battery life between charges). That said, I have ordered the DualSense Edge controller, which arrives in January and I am very much looking forward to the improvements they made with that.

Agreed. Dualsense is more of a generational leap compared to Xbox controller, which has stayed largely the same since the 360 era (still a comfy design though).

But I wish Dualsense had replaceable batteries too. It's just easier to swap them out and there is no risk of an internal battery going bad over time.

The tech it offers along with confort and build quality which make it feel premium in comparison to the competition makes sure that its the best controller in that price range.

Both Xbox and Playstation controllers are good, but i use and prefer Xbox controllers on PC due to compatability (especially with older games) and i also prefer the stick layout of Xbox controllers which really helps with bigger hands..

Not sure about premium, but I hate the symmetrical design of any PS controller and the dual color design of the Dual Sense really makes it look like a cheap Chinese knock-off toy.

I remember people calling the Wii U gamepad a Fisherprice toy, but the dual sense looks like a chinese bootleg version of that.
