I'm glad to hear about a sequel.

The first game had very dumbed-down repetitive gameplay that got old after 2 hours, but the story was interesting. That seems to be all Remedy is capable of delivering with their games, so I'm expecting more bland gameplay punctuated with interesting story bits. But because I prioritize gameplay over plot and stuff, this will be a "wait for a sale" title for me.

Hopefully the game moves a fuckton of units. Remedy needs a genuine blockbuster.

Do we know what the budget of the first one was ? I think it was a prowess for a game published by 505, even when the game was recycling itself it was pretty clever.

If there is more money for this one i'm definitely interested.

Hope it has a story this time and much better gameplay
I do not hope it has more story. The story in Control was very convoluted but largely ignorable. I liked that it just felt like a 3D Metroidvania.

I really found the core loop of Control very engaging, I ended up enjoying it a whole lot. Very much down for a sequel.

The first game was basically a AAA game with a AA budget. It only cost $30 million, and they really managed to deliver a lot of quality for that. The new game will be $50 million so a little bigger but not wildly out of scale with that.

NIce! Currently playing it for the third time. I just love their approach to game design and narrative. They got me right from the start with Max Payne which I love. Really liked Alan Wake, even more so Quantum Break and now Control.

I wish they would have patched the PC version for DualSense/Adaptive Trigger support. It's brilliant on the PS5, but I don't want to miss RT and the performance on my PC.

For the sequel I hope we will leave the bureau and have some field work to do under the sky.

For some reason I thought they had already announced a sequel, was it just a rumor before?

Either way this is cool. I found the first game disappointing but the franchise does have potential. They just need to expand on the combat (particularly in regards to enemy variety), add more cool sequences like the labyrinth and hopefully learn how to tell a story without having to read through 40.000 documents.

Honestly have the same issue with their games. Solid gameplay, but not enough variety in it to carry the game and the story has to pick up the slack. I didn’t even finish Control and lost interest half way through.

I LOVE this game.

It's not open world thank god and yet has things to explore more than any of them. Graphics are stellar, story/dialogues is serviceable, combat is fantastic. I can't wait.

Control was a decent albeit sleep-inducing game. 6 hours in and nothing special or particularly memorable ever happened.
just my opinion but it felt like a project made from the scraps and leftover animations/mechanics of QB
but I have every confidence that they will listen to players' feedback and shake things up a bit.

also Max Payne :D

Most underwhelming reveal ever, what the fuck.
yeah right. A tweet is the announcement? oO. Not even a trailer.
I guess not every game needs to be part of some bigger presentation where it may even get buried, the cringe gameawards might be something to avoid but still better than this. Marketing guys really seem to not care about making any splash recently.

Sure, I wouldn’t call it my favorite game or anything. But a sequel has a lot of potential imo. I love the Fringe (tv-series) mystery vibe they’ve managed to capture.
