Yep, that’s right, the hit Capcom game Monster Hunter Rise is coming to the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2023 and it will be available on Game Pass. Monster Hunter Rise will be available on January 20, 2023, as well as the expansion launching in Spring 2023.

It’s said that Moster Hunter Rise will be a full “4K60 port” with “3D audio” on the consoles.

The game, developed and published by Capcom was first released on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021 and would later release on PC in January 2022.

It sold more than 11 million copies worldwide since its launch, with the Sunbreak expansion selling an estimated 4 million copies as of August 2022. With the imminent announcement that the game will soon be coming to current-gen consoles, it has the potential to become one of Capcom’s best-selling titles.

Monster Hunter Rise is considered to be the sixth main installment after Monster Hunter: World, despite not being numbered similarly to previous titles

The game itself looks great and its announcement is soon to be revealed; possibly at The Game Awards on December 8.

For more from Insider Gaming, check out another exclusive from today on Beyond Good and Evil 2 still being in “early development”.

Cool, time for me to try and get into the franchise. Does the PC version has 3D audio too? I don't see it mentioned but maybe it's just "obvious" somehow?

Ok this is a great get. I was tempted to get on steam deck but on game pass and my deck on windows. I didn't read the whole article but assume it's game pass PC/Xbox. Win win.

Doesn't MH rise run at like 30fps on switch? MHW is far more demanding and also looks a lot better.
Eh, considering all the games that have been ported over to the Switch, it feels possible. Just a matter if Capcom wanted to spend the time and money to make it run good.

But now it doesn't make sense anymore, given that the Switch has Rise. But given Rise's sales number on Switch, hopefully Capcom isn't dumb enough to skip it again with the next mainline entry.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Nice, best monhun, I'd hope for crossplay. If true then it would mean they wanna/are gonna wait longer for the World successor because it needs to be another "much wow, such next gen" moment to achieve the same success, while the next gen console sales have been slow to increase.

I'd hope this also meant that after all the core player base will get a taste for the wirebugs' mobility they can't decide to not include it in the next game (but other smaller aspects I could do without, like the way spiribirds work and populate the maps, that can change for all I care).

I only really have two issues with it: Sunbreak ditched rampages just due to vocal haters, similar to the swimming in Tri (but at least 3U had that still in, they didn't abruptly can it halfway into the game) and the spiribirds. The rest is bliss. Stylish af, excellent roster & end game.

The rest things that could use improving like the difficulty and player scaling and camps and basically how you are invincible with next to no risk for failure if you're halfway decent at understanding game mechanics, are the same as in World and I try to ignore most of it.

I never go in camps to switch/get items, I always just manage with what I can have in my pouch and for much of the game(s) that also meant not even getting items from the town, just making do with the supply box since if playing solo you get 4x the amounts.

Sadly these things are not likely to change even though they may not a huge part of what made World sell more than previous games but get the credit alongside folks finally getting baited over next gen visuals, lack of loading screens within hunts, etc.

Too late, I won't be triple dipping on this one. It should have also come with the expansion day one, but they have to milk gamers as much as they can.

They mean the MS store, so pc gamepass.

MHW and MHR aren't running the same engines, the last big game with MTF on the switch is RE6 and it runs like shit; MHW is far more demanding than RE6.

I'd rather not have shit tier hardware restrict MHW2 to certain design decisions, but who knows perhaps they can work some magic with RE engine.

Played a shit tone on Pro. But PS5 has a 60fps mode. If Rise is 60fps as well I'm temping to dive in!

Reverse groomer.
i got it on PC a few days ago and its pretty cool, though the combat and movement feels a bit slow. I noticed this when playing MH4U on wii u and 3ds too, is this how the franchise is meant to play?

Hopefully PC version gets some texture updates with the new console versions. The monsters look okay, but the maps are pretty damn ugly most of the time.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
MH bros, kinda offtopic but I have a question for you.

I have played both vanilla World and vanilma Rise, but not the expansion of neither of them. Which one should I dive into?

I kinda liked World more because it doesn't have those tower defense missions and the multiplayer isn't a clusterfuck with 8 characters kicking the monster's ass. But I also liked Rise's roster of monsters and music far better, so I can't decide.

MH Rise runs on the RE engine, which is engine that Capcom uses for everything nowadays... So yeah, MH World should run just fine on the Switch, even if a lot of modifications would need to be made.

Capcom would be stupid to skip Nintendo once again. Not only its where a big portion of the MH fanbase is in, its where the franchise got popular, but it would also mean forfeiting several million sales in the process. It would be beyond dumb from them to skip the console.

Plus, if power is your worry, Nintendo will probably kickstart the 10th gen soon enough anyway, so power won't be an issue.

i wanted to try the latest entry...
MHR is cool, but MHW is the real deal IMO, it looks much better and is just packed with content and has some of the most incredible encounters in the entire franchise.

...I already addressed the engine, MHW uses MTF, RE6 is the last MTF game released on switch and it runs, let me reiterate, like dogshit on the switch; MHW is far more demanding than RE6, do the math.

Loved Rise. Without gyro Switch is still the best place to play if you're a gunner or bow user.

I wouldn't rebuy it since I already have it but I'll play a melee class this time and probably run through it all again because of GP. Put in 200 hours in 2 months then dropped it due to too many other games.

Awesome news.

I tried this on Switch and it seemed great, but it also looked like someone was slowly passing vaseline smeared mosaics across my vision.

Bet it looks great at 4K60!

You are assuming that they would just port it over and be done with it, like they did with RE 6. Which wasn't the case with almost none of the PS4 to Switch ports. So if a game like the Witcher 3, which I recon is more demanding, can make the jump, I imagine MH World can too. I mean, its only logical that its beyond obvious.
