This is the best thing about this news! Jensen being wrong.

I'm gonna go cut a £100 penis shape out of his leather jacket!

4080 deserves to drop price IMO. 4090 always seemed kind of fair pricing for what it offers and taking into account inflation.

4080 should not be more than £899 IMO.

Yeah, this is (edit: probably..) a currency adjustment. The general AMD adjustment (edit: may..) comes later, at least for the 4080.

Edit: BTW, the price rumors for the AMD cards ($1622, $1393(OC?) and $1236) are also bad, so I'm crossing my fingers for inaccurate rumors.

That price cut might come even before CES or GTC.

I do not look back at what previous generations of anything cost and thats one thing that spoils gamers is console pricing.

Last I looked literally everything is costing more
What kind of nonsense viewpoint is that? You're basically saying you're deliberately staying stupid.
I'm sure CEOs love customers who don't even realize they're getting fucked.....

Getting better. I'm starting to lose my patience though and might get a 4080 anyway since they are widely available. I need the performance, getting sick of this 2070 super spluttering at 4k.
Im in the same boat with my 2080s, trying to hold out to see if i can get one of amd cards at msrp tho

Sorry but I simply don't care what the going price was for the 3080 as it compares to current pricing

And in no way do I consider it as being stupid or getting fucked if its something I want I buy it pretty simple.

If its more money than you want to spend its cool, I get it.

Just grabbed myself a 6800XT. Going full Team Red with my new build.
Yeah, I haven't purchased a red card in a LONG time. I was never really team anything, just rolled with whatever worked best at the time. I have a feeling the next card I get will be red, because screw buying a GPU that's the price of an entire rig.

Yeah the metrics that are coming out now (with new drivers) are pointing to the 6800XT, specifically, being able to easily keep up with the 3080 and even the 3090 (and in some cases outperforming those!). RTX is still an issue obviously but I don't really care for that tech in its current phase yet.

I'm pairing it with a 5800X3D which is a bit overkill for now but those 1% scores are just insanely good.

IMHO - 4080 cards should be in the range of $699-$799 ...

With the upcoming release of the 79xx series - will be interesting how much of an actual price adjustment NVIDIA will actually make..

Until then - my 2080 will limp along patiently..

love that AMD lowered the x7950 price too. I luckily was still in the Amazon return window, ask their support service to refund me the price and they did :) Bought it at 700, got $150 back from them now that the price dropped to $550.

Grats thats a damn nice upgrade you will be thrilled

Fuck the haters

I can't bloody wait in all honesty. The 2070 super was only supposed to be a stop-gap and then all the pandemic shenanigans happened so I've had it far longer than I expected to. It's served me very well in the time I've had it but it's begging for retirement with how I'm using it (VR + I have the PC hooked up to a 55" CX.

4k 100 fps+ and crystal clear VR here I come.

I went from a 2070 to a 3090 (paid stupid scalper prices) and I was blown away running everything at 4k 100+ and even 160 on my monitor with some tweaked settings, look forward to seeing your take on that card, grats again

Hell I went from a 3090 to a 4090 and the difference was worth the price to me. Playing cyberpunk at a locked 60 with phyco RT at 4k is wonderful. The 3090 i had to compromise to many things to get stable 4k even with dlss. The 4090 is the first no compromise card I've ever owned.

I so want to pull the trigger on a new 4090 rig but waiting on some real world benchmarks from the new AMD card coming next week? or so

What to you mean by "no compromise"?, because settings must be compromised at native 4k already or else it gets wrecked:

I don't consider DLSS Quality to be a compromise, its AA performance and just overall look (in this game at least) is on par if not better than native in some aspects.

I've yet to see a game where dlss quality doesn't look just like a sweetened lower resolution.

80 class cards shouldn't even be at £800, unless its an AiB model.

Considering last generation Nvidia were selling G102 @ 628 mm² with 8nm Samsung @£649. To the 4080, with G103 4nm TSMC @ 379 mm² at a whopping £1299 (and that's if you can get lucky with and FE). Granted, there is inflation factor and the memory increase and TSMC have raised prices significantly.. Still, some massive price gouging from them.

Nvidia are just adjusting pricing to performance and not to the actual silicon used.
