Is the Halo Infinite campaign worth it at 50% off?

Is 50% enough of a discount?

IMO, it's the worst Halo campaign. Yes, even Halo 5 is better.

If you're a fan of the series then go for it, but otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Halo 5 campaign?
Mate.
I take you just forgot the Halo 5 campaign or never bothered playing it?

I played through that for the achievements.......multiple times
Thats easily the worst campaign as it doesnt really have a sandbox and you are just going through the motions to get those achievements.

You fight the frikken Warden Eternal like 3 or 4 times, if you dont have friends to co-op with, its easily easily the most tedious thing any Halo campaign has ever done and even with co-op partners its just not fun..........that alone makes Halo 5 the worst campaign.
The prometheans are also really boring enemies to fight against.

Infinite is leagues leagues better.
Even if you ignore the open world and just marthon mission after mission, you are in for a much better time than Halo 5, dare I say its actyually really fun if your upgraded enough.
A second playthrough is legit worth it.
Halo 5 is only worth it for achievements and the multiplayer.
I still wish they would release it on PC with crossplay so I can get more Warzone/Warzone Firefight/Warzone Assault.

Halo 5 campaign is trash, but I'd rather play that every day for a decade then put up with the Halo Infinite campaign one more time.

In fact, I'd rather get a tuggy from a homeless bum then play the Infinite campaign again.

I think it's one of the best games so far this generation. I had such a blast with it on Series X. I'm not sure on the quality of the PC port, but in my opinion the game itself is worth it at full price.

It is now that it’s co-op. Still kinda weird for me that this is the first and only halo game I never bought because of gamepass. I usually get the legendary editions. Even did it for halo 5, they didn’t really do anything at launch for me to (willingly) shell out $100-250. Either way it’s a great get especially if you have friends. The missions are pretty samey but this is one the few fps games in existence with actually good boss battles. Hell even hunters are mini bosses now. Tbh if you ever used to fuck around on missions in halo 3 split screen this is gonna be a good game to you lol, the gameplay just promotes you to screw around with things.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but like, dear lord. What are you smoking cuz I need some lol. An I LOVED halo 5 mp/warzone/breakout shit was fire MP wise. But fighting the warden over an over an over an over was literally text book bad game design.

Edit: that sanghelios mission with the arbiter at the end was great

I’m sure it’s worth it and from what I’ve heard it’s like Halo games of old. With that said, like many Game Pass games, it will go to bargain basement sales once enough people have played it. I’ll grab it for 75% off next year or the year after.

it has a great core combat loop,
set in the most lifeless, repetitive open world seen in years.
has project mismanagement and cut content written all over it.

id say you would still get a good to great initial 10hours of it. not that bad of a deal.

I voted no, but my preferred choice would be to play it on Game Pass or don't bother at all unless it's going for a fiver, it wasn't very good.

The open world is amazing. Lot of great gameplay and fun.

Just no missions that are as fun as something like 2 Betrayals from CE. Missions were between good and okay. Open world and side quests were where the game shines. Also the grapples hot really adds a lot!

I think you’ll really like it OP.

If you’re looking for reasons to hate this game, you’ll find them.

As a fan of previous Halo games, it’s the most fun I’ve had gaming in a long time.

…I think you could have lead with what games you enjoy in the OP to get some better feedback.

Glad you asked this. I've been on the fence about trying it out as well. I got GP for the next 6 months and go back and forth if I should try it.

Facts it’s so fun gameplay and mechanic and enemy wise, the story’s not bad either. Definitely not one of the greats as far as halo stories go though since much didn’t happen tbh, mainly just setting up the star of the halo universe post halo 5. But it was master chief finally getting over his ex pretty much an how he grew as a person in doing so. That one on one talk he did with the pilot still hits pretty hard. I remember everyone sharing that scene when the game came out lol it was a great stoic chief moment.

There is literally nothing in Halo Infinites campaign thats worse or as tedious as the Warden Eternal.
Granted its your own opinion.
But anyone who would rather do the Warden multiple times.....over the course of a decade than any part of Halo Infinite probably already does get tuggies from homeless bums.
But hey I aint gonna judge.

CdKeys has a few bucks off the steam price.

I enjoyed my time with it. It's an open world with some fun traversal with the grapple, that you can choose your own path with

No, it's just terrible. The MCC collection or Halo 5 is superior choice. I couldn't finished Infinite due to boredom.

Did you guys play a different Halo 5?
You really think Halo 5 had a better campaign than Halo Infinite?

Yes, it is linear and it has co-op, which is enough for me. I really hate whole structure of Infinite, just give me some "condensed experience", I hate when it is ton of pointless shit on map and devs expect me to do same thing over and over again. It felt like a chore, which is sad because with grappling hook and solid shooting it could be really good game.

Best thing which came out of Infinite was Craig, one of the funniest moment on this forum.

No. I've played it on 1$ gamepass on release on pc (3080).
It ran like crap, every boss is a monkee, whole last 3rd of the game, you are walking through corridors.
Open world is just 3 levels, out of which only one is reasonably big.
Cutscenes are great, characters are ok. new cortana is cute as fuck if I am to be honest. I took a lot of screenshots playing this... so I had fun with that. Not exactly fun with the game itself.

I mean.,.. LOOK AT HER. The tiny pixy who is constlantly looking up at you. nice.

Yes but why not get gamepass and enjoy some other games too. U can always buy it for $10 down the road if you simply must own it too.

Huh? Y'all are still buying Xbox games? Just sub to game pass for a bit, you'll finish the game in a weekend, spend significantly less than it would cost to own it outright, and you have access to hundreds of other games to play that month. It's a fairly short campaign all things considered, you could easily get the full experience in far less than a month.

Infinite has Co-op and while travelling between missions can be a chore, just ignore everything inbetween and voila a more classic halo experience.
It also has the grappling hook and doesnt have the Warden Eternal or Prometheans who are some of the most boring enemies in FPS history.
How did you guys enjoy fighting those shits?

Yes. I will say there are some boring and repetitive corridor sections towards the end. But the majority is spent in the open world with plenty of bosses and stuff to collect. Riding around and fighting with Marines brought back old feelings from Combat Evolved. And graphically I’d describe it as crisp and clean. Go for it.

Fun << >> Hate

There are myriads of reasons for both sides. Objectively AND subjectively.

I dunno all I give a fuck about is fun really I guess - critically I’m sure it can be picked apart easily. But grappling around the giant sandbox sniping and what not - that’s more fun than I’ve had in halo since probably the first one campaign wise.

Problem is they didn’t have split screen co op which is a BIG issue for me. That’s what makes halo campaigns so fun usually

I highly disagree. This was a return to form. Not fantastic, but very good.

The banter with cortana and mc was gtrat, anf the level design felt engaging.

They could have done a lot more with the open world, but this is easily recommended. The most important thing is that it truly feels like Halo far more than 4 and 5 ever did.

Might be the Joe Staten effect, I don't know, but as a Halo fan since 2001,I felt right at home.

It's not a good game but it has good game play. It’s the worst Halo by far. There is ZERO variety. There is less variety in the open world than Phantom Pain, which at least had unique bases and 2 different biomes. Infinite has the same looking bases over and over. That is the entire campaign.

It feels so unfinished in the sense that this can't have been what they imagined when they came up with the concept for this game. The one environment type with no setpieces and sparce story, the lack of anything dynamic happening in the environment such as trees blowing in the wind, wildlife etc. All of that stuff is missing (there are 2-3 animals and the world is totally static except for an occasional waterfall).

The positives are- being able to run around in a mostly pretty, but static af open world Halo and the solid core game play. Without doing anything interesting with the game play and without fleshing out the world, you have the most disappointing game of the generation.

I think game pass it for a month and complete it. I played through it twice but just saw it as a fun playground. It's more just fun shooting than a triple A game imo. Which is telling how much it missed the mark in some ways. The game play is great fun and the grapple hook. The vehicles, everything feels great but then there's this feeling that it's just an unfinished part of a larger campaign with different biomes.

It's a disappointing halo game but still great fun which is annoying as a fan of the series.

I personally think it's worth it as I play it co op with my mates after I clocked it solo, but I would still say just blast it on game pass.

I think it is a good, not great game. The open world is far too empty and they had a number of missed opportunities with it. The high value targets, for example, could have been fully fleshed out side quests, but instead just another shallow "go kill those guys and get the weapon" mission. So for me, while I enjoyed playing it via Game Pass, I would need a significant discount to buy the game outright at this point since 343 isn't delivering on its Gaas promise.
I agree with this. I would have been disappointed if I had bought this game outright. Game Pass was the way to go. If you really want to play it I would just spend the money for a month of Game Pass and spend the other 27 days or so just trying other games.

Couldn’t disagree more. I played all the halos, 4 and 5 were dog shit campaigns. Like COD campaigns basically. I hated them… when I first played halo, the first one - it was all about the open levels like beach one and the snow one. I’d replay those with friends over and over. Then Halo 2 came out and was more linear due to having to meet the deadline and rushing the campaign which was disappointing. Then halo 3 brought back some openness but not as much as the first game suggested they were going to, that didn’t happen really until infinite. And while imperfect it’s definitely a start. If they go back to that linear shit I’m done

If you now plan on playing coop then fuck yes, tons of fun on higher difficulties. Great gameplay moments and silly shit everywhere. Classic Halo.

If you're playing solo there is plenty of fun bit coop is far better value IMO.
