What if Sony was to acquire the Halo IP?

Bungie didn’t want to make Halo anymore, instead they got locked into shitting out Destiny for decades instead.

A Bungie Halo at this point in time isn’t going to be any better than what just shipped. It’s time for a decade off and when we relaunch hitting absolutely hard with MP out of the gate, dozen maps, forge, etc.

why would Microsoft sell off their biggest IP to their competitor?
Halo Infinite was not the hit they hoped it would be and with the TV series being underwhelming at best, it makes you wonder if they really care about how Halo was once regarded the all time great shooters, Sony currently is having success with it's tlou series and with Bungie expertise its not a bad idea.... I never said it has to be exclusive to the PlayStation platform. It's just a thought.

I dont think current bungie would make Halo proper. Bungie is not what they used to be, most of the key guys left.

Microsofts biggest blunder is not letting Bungie move on from Halo and make Destiny for them. Instead they spent an absorbent amount of money to keep a franchise that came to it’s natural end going with an incompetent studio while letting go of one of the best FPS studios in the industry with one of the biggest Multipalyer titles go to their biggest competitor.

All while they continue to drag around the dead carcass of the Halo IP for years

If Sony was to acquire the Halo IP then it would be a step backward for Playstation. Halo is played out. It can't be improved upon without upsetting vocal old fans, and it can't appeal to new fans because of all the baggage it carries. The best thing for Halo would be to put it on ice for fifteen-twenty years and then reboot the whole thing for a whole new generation. Only then will people's interest be genuinely piqued.

It's a great IP, if MS wanted to do something new with it they would hand it to ID/Bethesda.
The idea of it going to Sony is about as likely as Ms Bringing on the last of us on xbox.

James Cameron could use some of that Avatar money, buy the Halo IP and take it down on his deep sea sub and leave the Halo ip at the bottom of the ocean.

In this fantasy world Bungie buying the rights to Halo would be the best thing for the franchise because it would be in the hands of a world class developer plus it would go multi-platform everyone wins too bad it'll never happen

They should sell it to Activision after the deal falls through
Tbh if you really think about it the Activision/Blizzard deal may go through now after all, I mean if the regulators see how Microsoft ruined there biggest IP (Halo), then what does the competition have to worry about. 🧠

An IP is only as good as the studio that creates it. Unless Bungie wants it back, it’s time to retire it to the annals of gaming history

No one cares about Halo anymore. It's pretty much a meme at this point. I hope the next Gears does well, but both of these (former) Xbox flagship IPs are cooked. Hence why Microsoft is out buying IPs.

Look what happened with God Of War, was dead and over done from the snorefest of GoW3, well I mean Ragnarök isn't great, but it's commercially successful and highly lauded.

Anything can happen to an IP.
