Amazing Forza Horizon 5 hand jobs.
Agreed.

It's at an 89 right now, I can see IGN and gamespot giving it a 9 or a 10...it might level out around 88-90 but easily deserves a 92.

For me this game is a 10. If I were even thinking of docking points, I can't think of where those points would come from because of how much I love everything about it. But it's easily a 9.2-10 territory caliber of game. Where metacritic or opencritic ultimately lands won't really matter. The game has found its audience and made its impact. But the people playing it all know how amazing it is.

Played the first two levels today. What an absolute treat. Feels fantastic to play, looks incredible, the characters and writing actually grew on me very quickly.

Surprise banger of the year and it's not even quite February here yet!

I guess you can go back and redo tracks post-game?

I missed a lot of
the flying boxes for tec-78 in track 5. and there were some Z-shield doors in earlier levels I think

Do yourself a favor and actually play the game and discuss the game instead of astroturfing like a twat.

It is coming to xbox. It was only ever a timed exclusive. Its also a very... OK game. Great concept bogged down by generic/repetitive design.
Take it back you sonofabitch. /s

I love that game.

Almost as predictable as you coming into any Xbox Thread to defend your favorite plastic box with zero irony.

Funny how that works.
The guy was just pointing out that some of the Dev team had a fantastic pedigree in the biz. Why is that astroturfing?
Did the fella piss on yer chips or something?
It's just videogames, lad.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
I am not a Metro supporter but thats not how i read it. I dont think the game was marked down because MS havet released games. I think the point being made is that the journalist wants to give the game accolades i.e. 'the best Xbox Series game ever' when really this is the first Xbox Series exclusive MS have produced since launch so giving such a accolade doesnt really have the gravitas the game warrants.
Why is everyone pretending 2021 didn't happen?

Track 10 screenshots. Holy hell man. Looks too good.
Track 10 had some of my favorite licensed music moments. It was also the one that drove me insane finding the HR Investigator and the last graffiti I needed.

Track 8 had my favorite original music, probably because it reminded me of Persona a ton.

I think I'm maybe 40% through.

Should I be spending my Gears on items upgrade slots, combos, or special moves?

I've been mostly doing Combos but I wonder if I should be doing something else. How big of an impact do all these combos actually have if I can just smash the same combos all the time?

Personally, I went with the upgraded special move slot first so I could have two specials. Then bought the healing special move. Then focused on the health and reverb upgrades, then combos. You'll want to buy your companion moves soon, IMO, because having them for dodge/parry counters and overkills can be pretty significant.

This is the most fun I've had with a game in the last 10 years, lol. I was at work daydreaming about this game, drum track beating in my head.

I haven't had this kind of reaction to a game since Super Mario Galaxy 2! Kind of forgot that games should just be fun!

Track 11
is by far my favorite song and favorite part of the game. I actually emotionally was freaking out. Its just hitting hard on so many different levels. Like the perfect fusion of Japanese combat devs mixed with someone with actually great indie rock taste mixed with jawdropping graphics and perfect dialogue pacing and movie quality editing and nostalgic Saturday morning cartoon positivity. I was literally overwhelmed.

Do not forget you can grapple enemies. But also some things you just have to parry and dodge.
Yep, hardest boss by far up to that point. Im just a bit passed that.
But the environment setup and the whole fight is so good tho.

I was not expecting a left shark callback in 2023, lol

Yeah the fight itself was still fun, but Mimosa was the first boss where I felt powerless and thought the game was a bit unfair. I may have missed a few rules though.
When they said she was immune to attacks, I tried to damage her with parries and a few summons of Peppermint, but it took forever to stun her and when she was down my attacks barely scraped her life bar. I only thought of spamming assists and using Macaron for dealing damage on the third phase though. Still not sure it's the best strategy, but it worked.
Most of her scripts made me shout "hey, no fair !" (sometimes with more creative language :D), "hey look you can't hurt me", "welp, you took to long my armour is reloaded now", "let me turn off the light". I hated her grapple with open wings where she would slap you in the face (still funny though), I'm still not sure how you're supposed to evade/counter that, and it reminded me of the painful grapples of Alpha Whatsernumber in DOA4 that would last forever and make you watch the full animation as you know it will take all that's left of your life bar.

Anyway, there were some frustrating parts in that fight, but I kept going until I beat her, and to be honest now I kind of want to go back to it and do better. :)

I just completed my first play through. Great game. I think my favorite fight was Roguefork or whatever his name was, the wolf guy, mostly because he wasn't Mimosa, and because his animation was badass.

Interesting that he said there was no console version in mind until Microsoft purchased Bethesda. So 2021 is when console specific work began?

He nails the game pass comments here. It has worked exactly how he envisioned it might....Good on him and the team.

I stand by that FOR ME this is the most refreshing GAME in years and I adore it.

Balance it out, but def get the jam combo moves for your partners asap.

I pretty much only bought 3 specials, two team ups, and hibiki.
Then upgraded my chipslots and bought the cool down ones, then bought all combos.

The mimosa fight is pretty great meta design

Since you're on "her stage", waiting for her means you are adjusting to her tempo and giving her center stage and thus becoming the "star" and you the side attraction, making her -much- harder since she'll then won't give you many openings.
The strategy is to become the star of the show, and just be relentless, even if she's in the air just keep attacking and parrying and she'll stun over and over; you can even parry/evade the little wave she does to trap you in the box, it seems hard to do, but remember that nothing can hurt you if you are always parrying on the count/beat.
Also when you see her winding up for the grab, just evade away from her on the beat and remember she does a second grab right after.

Does attacking her in the air really work ? It seemed like I was bouncing on her shield without making any damage or contributing to the stun (the audio comments seemed to suggest that only the assist characters could break her down).
Parrying the red waves was actually the part I felt most confident with, I usually got "perfect" parries, except when I had to attack myself the thingies at the end of the room and had less time to see them coming.

Generally speaking I like to do as many parries as possible, since they feel especially appropriate in a gameplay that is rhythm-based. Many of my upgrades were spent on parry-bonus, but maybe I should spend a bit more on teammates now.

Yes it works because korsica can hit her in the air as well if you time it correctly or do an air jam combo, and parries will also add to her stun, so while attacking her in the air you can air parry her for massive stun gains.
Also I meant you can actually parry/evade the initial wave that traps you with 'just' timing, skipping the entire sequence with the red blocks.

Teammate moves were critical for me (and look cool). Buy the land combo and the air combo for everyone. The only super you really need is hi-speed punch or whatever. The charge attack is also good for the big guy.

Where can I buy team moves? I have some Korsica's move but it says I have to buy some other move first - but that isn't in my chips...

Depends on how good you are/what your playstyle is.

I've not purchased any new specials and have purchased every combo (and companion combo) available to me. I'm now spending gears on upgrading the chip slot mods.

Specials will be the last thing I upgrade because they don't actually add anything to your general moveset.

I commented earlier that my game had stutter on the GAMEPASS PC version, but not on Steam or Series X. For whatever reason GAMEPASS PC is now running at 115fps locked. Buttery smooth gameplay.

No idea what's happened, but sometimes PC just be like that I suppose. All sorted now. Haha.

It's a pretty awesome game but there are some absolute heavyweights coming this year. Not sure if it'll still be in the GOTY conversation by November.
