Resident Evil 4 Remake: Exclusive Chapter 5 Gameplay Walkthrough by GameInformer

The Resident Evil 4 remake is Game Informer’s cover story for February, and as part of our ongoing features, we’re sharing an extended gameplay walkthrough of the game’s fifth chapter, set right after Leon meets Ashley. Marcus Stewart, and Alex Van Aken played this chapter at Capcom’s headquarters for our cover story. You'll get a great look at the section we played as well as our commentary for added context. The footage includes extended looks at the church and cemetery sequences, a demonstration of combat and exploration, capping off with a larger slice of the chaotic cabin battle with Luis Serra. Disclaimer: Capcom helped to arrange and cover travel accommodations for two in Osaka, Japan, in association with this cover story. As the world’s largest video game magazine, Game Informer’s editorial team is proud to remain impartial, professional, and committed to the truth in all forms of our content, regardless of this circumstance.

Most likely they'll tone the rain down a bit via patch.

But damn, game looks phenomenal. I love how they made the game look way darker then the OG. Kind of reminds me of that RE4 early concept that leaked on the web.

I'll give this a watch soon, ordered a copy of this for myself and another copy for my dad's birthday, he beat this game so many times on the GameCube back in the day :)

Plus maybe it will pull him away from Witcher 3, he cleared of every single ? Off the map and is now doing a new game plus run on the difficulty one below hardest XD
I think it looks too easy. It lacks enemies that can hit Leon from distance.
Resident 5 and 6 later chapters have zombies with guns if that is what you're after 👀

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I'm digging the Supernatural Filter, it suits Resident Evil
Also any confirmation if they got rid of the end of chapter score screen and it just plays from start to finish seamlessly
Never really liked that.

Side note
Really not sure what people are complaining about with the rain, the low res footage a few days ago I could understand but here in 4k you can see it's not a static overlay like people was saying and it sways and visibility varys and is independently lit by the environment and lightening lights it up fully like it should do.

Alright, I'm convinced that someone at Capcom didn't adjust the video settings for the capture footage.

The rain will probably look questionable regardless but this inventory screen solidified it for me. Look at how blown out this shit is, lol.

I'm not even a graphics snob like that but in a game like this, you gotta tweak your video settings to get peak atmosphere.

I really like that knife to the neck option. Good stuff.

That's really cool. Thanks for sharing, love comments like that.

Looks good, and while its going to play better than the original it won't be the same instant classic. We've seen and played it before. And the art direction looks worse to me. Don't know why.

But gameplay looks fine, you can finish downed enemies (after RE5, you don't know how badly I want this in 4), stealth the odd guy and the melee looks rather seamless. It looks a lot like Village though, same interface, indicators and all.

What is it with devs these days and making some areas of the environment pitch black when there's a light source couple of metres away? Dead Space was a huge culprit with this and RE4R is following suit. Not a fan of everyone using Unreal, but seems like Lumen is badly needed when art direction and lighting are this bad.

God, I'm glad they've got professionals working over there. I was afraid it was going to be 12 minutes of dead gaps in narration, terrible jokes, talking over dialogue and not remembering things from the original game, but no, this company hires EXPERTS in the field.

Honestly think the rain looks terrible and is very distracting.

The ground stab seem cool. I'm less impressed than I expected so far. Definitely not a day 1 at this point.

This looks and plays like crap.

Seriously, what were they thinking?
Just make Resident Evil 9 with the same gameplay as 6 and call it a day.
After experiencing a couple of posters last month that were like a Super Saiyan 2 edition of your posting style while you were semi-gone(both ended up being banned), I just wanted to say welcome back.

Edit: My welcome back is genuine. I realized and have accepted that you are the line and I'd rather have you here than whoever the hell those other guys were last month.

Wow, this looks way worse than i was expecting. The lighting is completely off, the blacks are crushed, half of the time the characters don't even cast shadows, the rain looks bugged...

This looks like a fanmade Unreal demo.

welcome to the RE engine. Me personally I'm kind of glad that the weapons seems to have some weight. Re Village was so absolutely trash tier in that regard, RE 4 just couldn't have that going for it. Not gonna bother talking about REmake 2 since it was a bullet to the knee and walk through a door simulator, but yeah

Great graphics are temporary, but great gameplay is great forever. If the game is fun, which it's looking like it certainly will be, nobody will give a fuck about the graphic fidelity of the game. Certainly not 5 or 10 years from now.

People are just hyper critical because it’s a remake of a beloved classic. I was the same way with RE2 and RE3. I could criticize both games for being inferior to the PS1 originals but that didn’t stop me from enjoying them.
