Final Fantasy 16 won’t be delayed ‘unless a meteor falls on Japan’ | PC Version could come eventually after six months on PS5

Well I have no problem waiting 6 months for a pc port because I am absolutely sure Square will use those 6 months to ensure the pc port is a fully optimized and stutter-free just like all of the excellent Sqaure pc ports.

I’ll buy it on PS5 and probably double dip with the PC version a few years down the line.

I’d prefer PC day 1 but oh well. I’m just glad the game actually got made. If it takes some of Sony’s money to make this game a reality then so be it.

You think it took Sony buying exclusivity to greenlight FFXVI? Was there news I missed or is that just your opinion?

Just my speculation. There were rumors coming out that basically S-E expected XV to be a disaster and they had no plans for a XVI until they saw how XV performed.

I’m sure a game called FF XVI would’ve got made regardless but I’m not sure it would’ve been the same game.

Hope it flops tbh. Fair play console exclusivity but holding back pc is just bad business.

I'm sure it will sell well on ps5, but delaying the pc version eill surely affect overall sales massively. Better hope for square it's a 90 plus banger because anything less and I feel it will suffer in sales.

You know, it's not like Final Fantasy has been on PlayStation for a quarter of a century. I'm sure the fanbase knows by now that if you want to play Final Fantasy you get a PlayStation. 🤷

Not anymore lol. You can pretty much get them all on PC and play the best versions of each through emulation if you so desire.

This is why I don’t mind Microsoft buying publishers out right. If Sony can leverage their console market share to keep games exclusive, MS should be able to leverage their money to buy third party publishers. Only business, right?

Hope this continues going forward to be honest as MS will have more ammo to purchase all the studios they want.
why u care? u just said in other thread ff16 is basically utter shit :D

If Japan has to be sacrificed so that Final Fantasy can start over again, so be it.

This post was before I've seen all of the game play videos for FF16. Point still stands that MS should be able to use their assets and money to buy exclusive games.

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm talking about the games at the time of release. Unless you have a PS5 emulator somewhere to play FFXVI on.
PC in 2 years probably. Given I expect it to go from Sony Exclusive > Epic Games Exclusive > Steam

Yeah I'm glad Ms is going after publishers and studios.

Hold on let me spend $500+ so I can play one game that is inevitably going to come out on PC. No thanks.

So why complain? Final fantasy has been historically associated with playstation for over 25 years now, and the PC version is always delayed, what made you think that would change?

I’ve been locked into PS since PS1 specifically for Square Enix games.

Maybe because it isn't 1997 anymore?

After all these years, if you're an FF fan, you have a Playstation. It's as simple as that.
Or most JRPG for that matter, this my big reason why I own both Nintendo and Playstation systems.

I didn't know FFXVI would be exclusive to PS5 but I was 100% sure its coming out on PS5 mutiplatfom or not. With Xbox, it up in air if they do get the games, epscially when comes to SE games.

For example: Original Octopath came out on Xbox but the 2nd game entirely skipped the system.....why? Who the fuck knows.

No Mana games or FF Pixel remasters on Xbox either. But it randomly gets Chrono Cross and a pat on the ass lol

Square gonna Square. Like these games? Buy a Nintendo + PlayStation and/or PC.

When they say six-month timed exclusive, does that mean the Xbox version is ready to go (or will be ready to go) as soon as that six months is up?

Nope, that version will need to be ported and optimized just like the PC version... if they do an xbox version at all.
If they port it at the same time as the PC version then both will probably take longer to come out.

What is funny is I've read some people say timed exclusivity is actually worse than full exclusivity.

People even forget the time Microsoft bought full exclusivities of games like Ridge Racer 6 (which to countervene had to release an update called Ridge Racer 7), Ace Combat 6, Blue Dragon, Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive to name a few. Imagine having a exclusivity deal with the game that always releases with playstation lol. But ofc mama Microsoft is always a victim

Why would I want to waste my money like that? Having a PS5 for me gives me mostly what I what.

PS and PC combo will never fail! lol
Imagine a world where Sony doesn't gatekeep third parties from other platforms

yea I don't know about all that.

Look at Octopath 2, who has the deal for that? Can the absence of a game be based on a deal, sure....it can also be based on how the series has done on a platform in that past. So I don't think Sony and MS have deals with Ubisoft to not have AC or Watchdogs on Switch or Resident Evil not show up on Switch or some dumb shit like that lol I think it can be based on a deal.....it can be based on past performance or a combination.

Danjin44 Danjin44 lol thats my favorite type of marketing bullsht, where someone says some wild ass shit like "we'll dead ass blow up the whole country if it gets delayed again...DEAD ASS" lol

Weird because FF15 came to PS4 and Xbox One on the same day, while Final Fantasy 13 came to Xbox 360 about 9 months later than PS3 (worldwide). I'm assuming (as a layman) that the Series X and PS5 are close enough in terms of specs that they could be developing them in parallel.

Basically the possibilities are:

1) Sony offered more money than Microsoft (was willing to offer, obviously MS has more money in absolute terms)
2) Microsoft offered more money in order to either take it exclusive or stop it being PS5 exclusive (timed or otherwise) but Squenix went with PS5 anyway
3) If what they're saying about FF16 really juicing the PS5, maybe they just don't want to have to mess around with the Series S version for what would probably be not enough sales (on Xbox) to make it worth their while.

I suppose option (3) becomes more and more attractive the more that PS5 pulls ahead of Xbox. Why mess around trying to get your supposedly next-gen only game to work on Series S when (I'm guesstimating) most people with a Series S just have it as a Game Pass box and you (ie a publisher, ie Squenix) are not planning to release your game on Game Pass for the foreseeable future.

A $2000 PC? That won’t even buy the video card.

Also; enough is enough. I’ve had it with these monkey fighting hooded figures from this Monday to Friday company.

Fake edit 2: bravely default 1 is the best final fantasy since 12🎤✋✌️

The six months is just the legally required timed exclusive for pc. The developer has said they need more than 6 months to port it and it'll definitely take longer. Xbox will be alongside PC

Watching that 45min video fo FF16 got me hyped again. Im actually feeling the middle ages setting now, think the voice overs are great in english. Fights look epic.

Hopefully Sony locked it down for their console exclusively. Have to compete with starfield exclusivity some how.
