Having the right gaming setup can completely transform your gaming experience. But with so many options in platforms, peripherals, and in-game items, it can be tough to know which ones are right for you. Mark Medina is here to break down and compare some of the top Gaming Controllers available right now, including PlayStation 5's DualSense Edge, Xbox Series X's Elite Wireless Elite Controller Series 2, and the Split Pad Pro for Nintendo Switch!

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
I like the Xbox One gamepad. External batteries are my jam and I love being able to connect my headphone right into them.

Yeah I know the PS4 gamepad also has that but I never managed to make it work on the PC.

Dualsense controller is probably the best one so far, at least of the ones Sony produced. Comfortable with a good weight to it, and the adaptive triggers adds so much to the immersion when done right. Games like Control, Ghostwire Tokyo, Demon's Souls, Returnal, Horizon Forbidden West, would've been a much lesser experience without that support.

On second place I'd say Nintendo Switch Pro controller. I don't mind playing with the joy-cons, they're nice and all, but the Pro is a different beast when I hook up Switch to the TV. Very comfortable with excellent battery life. I don't have to charge it often, like Dualsense that only lasts one or two sessions.

Had to stop using the dualsense (or any Sony controller) because they're murder on my wrist for long competitive fps sessions. Shame too because I much prefer the tighter analog stick tension on the ds4 and dualsense compared to the latest MS controllers.

For my use case of a pc and PS5, I recently picked up an Edge controller. Works great although I find these things far too expensive.

I'd like to try one of these, but unfortunately only two buttons / paddles on the back is a no-go :(

Are there any controllers out there with permanent magnets joysticks and four buttons / paddles on the back, anyone..? The GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro is even worse; It has none..

Anyway, not much comes close to an Elite 2 to me, all things considered. ..But I am always looking for new best of the best stuff, I'm not overly attached to any company.

I have an Elite 2, Edge, and Scuf Reflex.

My conclusion: SCUF>ELITE 2>EDGE

I'm still terrible at video games tho

I've always hated the location of the sticks in PlayStation controllers. It sucks and the designer should be shot.
Which is why Microsoft makes the best controllers on the market. They're insanely comfy and the stick placement makes sense.
All of their pads are great. Even the Duke.

Nintendo is just all over the place. Their Pro Controllers are good. And the Gamecube pad is legendary. But they keep trying to reinvent the wheel.
Which is nice, but they don't have the consistency of the Xbox controller.

The sticks were put there because it was an addon to the existing PS1 controller. That was a reasonable way to do it for the PSX. Keeping it that way for the PS2 and beyond was fucking moronic. That team should be shot. They fucking cemented that shit design which was supposed to be a fucking band aid into something permanent. Assholes

Yes, I love that 8bitdo controller. But my favourite is this Razer chroma v2 ultimate. I find it hard to go back to anything else after getting used to the super responsive face buttons on this. My "dream controller" would have elite 2's weight, back paddels and battery time and razer chromas responsive buttons and build quality. All my elite 2 controllers have had unresponsive and faulty face buttons.

Honestly if it had a better f-pad the switch pro controller would be the king.
It just feels right and digital triggers is better for 99% of all the games I play.

I do like how some devs mimic digital triggers on the dual sense though to.

What? It has Hall Effect joysticks?

Any link to that?

I have xbox version of it, which is wired.

Been looking since early today for the info, albeit I’m on mobile, seems like the only info for it is from a tweet and a dismantle video of the Bluetooth + 2.4g controller.

8bitdo doesn’t even seem to advertise it on their site, WTF?

This is one of the stupidest videos I've ever seen coming out of IGN, and that's saying a lot. Which controller is right for you! Out of all of these one option for PS5 we talk about, we suggest the one PS5 option for PS5!

This is yet another reason why independent media is better than the corporate garbage.

Apparently only the higher priced bluetooth version (with Nintendo layout) has the Hall effect. I was under impression they both did, but that is not the case. I have both versions and frankly even the non-HE version is better than anything else out there, imo.

Only the wireless with Nintendo layout? The wireless PC version (with xbox layout) too, right? They're the same except for the button layout.

Only with the bluetooth version which as the Nintendo layout is what I read earlier.

"The $69.99 Ultimate Bluetooth controller also has one upgrade its stripped-down counterpart does not: Hall Effect Sensing joysticks. These joysticks use magnets to track positional input, which means they’re not prone to the stick drift that analog joysticks often suffer from. The sticks felt precise and responsive."

So strange, so GuliKit apparently has a patent on it? They exclusively supply Steam deck replacements and 8bitdo. How can this be? We had hall sensor joysticks since a long time.

I'm mind blown that SCUF or Razer with >$200 controllers don't have hall sensors, the hell.

I wish there was a dual sense with hall sensor joysticks on PC, i kind of wanted to move away from the old Xbox config i've had for so long.

Cool, that's the one I have. (The wireless with xbox layout). Didn't know it had HE-joysticks. That's awesome.

It is the Nintendo one with bluetooth that has HE though. Sorry if I was clear
But the one for PC (with xbox layout) is exactly the same controller. I can't find any info on their page separating the two, except from the layout. Its even called the same. Very strange if only the one with switch-layout has those HE joysticks?

We‘ve gotten to a point where there are no terrible controllers manufactured anymore, it‘s just tiny little preferances that make a tiny little difference. Some like their analogue sticks offset, some don‘t, but even Nintendo gave in and produced something with their switch that‘s basically the same controller as sony and microsoft. Valve added a few rear buttons and that‘s it. It seems like after a few decades we finally came to terms with how a controller layout should be. And I don‘t mind it, it‘s just a little boring but as long as it‘s generally user friendly, it‘s appealing to most potential customers. So for me no matter what controller I use, as long as the game i good, I don‘t mind the input device.

I've got an elite 2 and I can/will never go back.

After the initial growing pains, and it really sinks in, it's the superior experience on a console controller!
