Big mistake, player base on PC has grown far larger than when GTA 5 first released.
Disagree here, rockstar knows many of us will double dip, so it makes sense to focus on console version(playstation mainly) and later port it to pc with even more bells and whistles(and 60fps/120fps/uncapped mode on top ;p) for another 30-40-50m copies sold there :D

If everything goes well gta6 will be evergreen title just like gta5 was/is so plenty time for pc gamers to bite :)

I thought this was already confirmed. Take 2 -and Rockstar/GTA in particular- compared to most other top 3rd party publishers have most of their revenue coming from consoles, so this is expected.

Game will be woke anyway, perfect for SlopStation 5 Pro.
Meawhile i'll wait for the superior PC version where I'll mod in D.Va to replace Jason, but give her a giant fucking dick and replace all NPCs with Thomas the Tank Engine. Based.

Well, if it never comes out on PC, I'll guess I'll never play it. If you want my money, you need to come to me and not the other way around, Zelnick.

The same strategy with GTA 5, I guess.

First round: PS5, Xbox series
Second: PC
Third: Definitive edition for PS6, next Xbox
Fourth: Definitive edition for PC
Fifth: Enhanced definitive edition for ps7, next next xbox, and PC

Used XSX/PS5 + used game and resell both after beating the game = no money for the walled garden shit. That's at least my plan if the game is a must have at release.

I know there's double dippers but this kills hype for me since I'm pc only.
Always. It's the worst hype killer for me. I've stopped double dipping and I don't want to invest on lower spec hardware, just makes the first playthrough worse than it could be and the second playthrough a less exciting experience since I've already been there and done that.

It makes sense as the game should get a substantial upgrade for PS6 and PC release.
That won't happen overnight, may even take longer than a year.

The GTA Online revenue leak showed PC was only 3% of it. Obviously console is the priority for them.
The problem is that this leak debunked many people's theory about why Rockstar was releasing the game on consoles first.

It's a game whose popularity lies on consoles, but not because of the single-player story, but rather because of the multiplayer mode.

In fact, I think they're putting all their effort into the multiplayer mode, which is their cash cow.

Also domt forget the impact of negative steam reviews if a hypothetical pc version lay ched at the same time byt wasnt optimized fully, or.have no extras compared to the console releases.

They want everybody to have the same experience day one, high reviews.

Then another pc launch a half year later, with more good reviews

That's not a bad idea, tbh. I mean, I have no problems waiting for the game. But this might end up being what I'll do if a year down the line, the game is still not out on PC (and fairly priced).

Sounds good in theory but too much of a hassle to put into practice.
I've done it before. No problem if you live in a big city and you always have the option to send it to one of those resellers without any work. And i also heard of people who get both console and game at the Warehousedealz and send it back. But that's just mean.

And Xbox pretty much doesn't exist compared to ~80M they had around GTA5 launch.

Stupid decision by Rockstar. But that IGN article is beyond idiotic, we know this for years...

They are downgrading their vision to make the game possible on PS5 and XSX (not to mention XSS). They just need to add few quality sliders - boom, pc version is ready.

Gonna be an on rails snooze fest like RDR2 anyways, I'll get it for 20 bucks on steam down the line.

The xbox series playerbase for GTA is still bigger than PC. So if Xbox doesn't exist to them then neither does PC.

A shame, but it's not like we are lacking for games to play. I am definitely not gonna repeat the mistake I made with RDR2, playing it on console first. The PC version was so superior that I was pissed my first experience with that masterpiece was so compromised. In my defense, there was a serious possibility that RDR2 would never get PC version, since the first game didn't have it. But now both games are on PC, as will GTA6, and it will be worth the wait.

Nah, if history tells us anything, the original vision will be met, next-gen and PC will go beyond and even include new features.

Game would sell far more copies on PC than on Xbox with current userbase.

If you are using that revenue chart from GTAO - there are reasons why PC players don't pay for this shit.

Original vision won't be met on base consoles and XSS. Do you think original vision of GTA5 was met on PS3?

Ppl overestimate double dippers. The vast majority will not pay $70-80 twice for the same game in this economy.

Rockstar shooting themselves in the foot for a record-breaking launch when you consider 84M PS5 and only 34M Xbox Series S|X have been sold, that's 118M combined. When GTA V was released there were 87M PS3 and 81M Xbox 360, that's 168M combined.

Steam has over 132M monthly active users.

The landscape has changed significantly since the 360/PS3 generation. I wouldn't be surprised if it's only delayed by a few months. Shareholders will be demanding Rockstar release it with so much money left on the table.
