ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
There will be shops (they said how they've even modeled small gas stops with great detail and cities will of course have shops you can go into) and a long time ago Nomura has talked about them testing some complex crowd AIs for cities and such. As far as optional content goes, Nomura has said he doubts anyone will 100% the game on their first playthrough, apparently there's so much to do. Optional content including non-mandatory dungeons, summon battles and such.

Losing hopes in platinuming the game in one playthrough. :(

Got banned during E3, but those trailers were jaw dropping!

I can't believe Sony didn't money hat this.... anyway not reading the OP, I am going on a media blackout for this game.

What if Noctis is an anti-hero? Their will to oppose the "Versus XIII" might also influence their protagonists, the perfect hero Lightning vs Noctis.

Hold your horses everyone!

I found the perfect voice to go with Cor Leonis.

Are you ready? Hold on to your beards, here he comes:

Nick Offerman~

Because he is sexy and you can't deny it

Ha, this guy is actually from my town. His dad was a teacher at my high school for years.

To be more specific, Nomura says that Cor is "yakudoshi":

That's quite fascinating really. Never knew about that belief before.

All this sounds wonderful, though I am curious whether he means that it would simply take anyone a very long time to do so rather than perhaps not being able to due to there being time limits on when these things are open.

I wonder what rewards beyond summons there would be. Equipment would make sense I suppose and it would be cool to be able to go and find some rare sword for Noctis or other weapon for the others.

I can finally post to say I've been foaming in the mouth since the re-reveal and over all the information we've been getting!

The best bit of news to me is knowing we no longer have to wait years for measly scraps of information. I hope SE holds true to their word.

We saw Noctis using a variety of Weapons in the 2008 reveal trailer

We see him using them in the 2013 trailer along with similar move

Nothing meaningful here. Just pointing it out :p

So the guy with the hood... he should be wearing it for some reason right? The blonde hair makes me think he's related to Stella.

His cloak also has a different insignia on it than the main Niflheim people. It looks like a black and white wolf (Fenrir?), whereas Idola and his soldiers have a red and white dragon (Bahamut/Tiamat) as their seal.

Said it before, but I really think he's Stella's older brother, and thus the Laertes of XV's Hamlet. It would also explain why he's shown as Noctis' rival and not Idola. And he's totally going to end up being the real villain of the story, if Etro isn't the final boss herself.

The vision since 2006 seems to have remained the same. I'm sure pre-production and even the inception dates back to 04 or maybe even farther.

This must be a dream project for Nomura, otherwise I think we would see more drastic changes as the team gets tired of some of the older ideas.

Lightning will not be in Final Fantasy XV. Period. End of discussion.

I'd love a cameo from Lightning though in both games. Also a Noctis cameo in KH3. Him and Lightning we be siblings helping Sora do his do.

Maybe Nomura got a change of heart and said, hmmm lets make Lightning
the new Etro.

Really? Whaaaat. That sounds glorious! Is that from a recent interview?

Optional dungeons and summons is what I live for. ;_;
No, they are bits and pieces of older Versus XIII interviews. Still, all of the old information seems to be applicable to XV so far (world map, cars, control of other characters etc.), so I don't see why the other info wouldn't be either. I mean, Nomura did say that the project was moved to next-gen because it had become so massive that PS3 was struggling with it. Doesn't sound like the scope has been reduced at all (if anything, it might be even bigger).

All this sounds wonderful, though I am curious whether he means that it would simply take anyone a very long time to do so rather than perhaps not being able to due to there being time limits on when these things are open.

The way Nomura worded his response, it sounded like there were just so many nooks & crannies to explore that without a guide it would be hard to find everything.

I hope that they keep XV's world in scope, it's one thing to be ambitious (nothing wrong with that) it's another thing where the world is too big and adds unneeded fluff that distracts from the good stuff.

I kind of like the idea of Noctis not being limited to one weapon type (at least it looks that way), it'd certainly be something different. It'd also be cool if they make it like FFIX & X where every character brings something unique to the table. While I love being able to customize all of my characters to fit specific roles and encourage micro-managing, I feel like for this type of game each guy should fundamentally stand out and bring their own flavor of combat. Limit Breaks are probably stretching it, but I'd welcome them back too.

The idea is that Noctis is a jack of all trades but master of none with his ability to switch weapons/weapon types at will, so while Noctis might be able to use a katana like Cor does, Cor will be more efficient/skillful in using one and will have some character specific skills with that kind of weapon. And Prompto can aim at weak spots with his gun skills, which Noctis would not be able to do if he chose to use a gun.

So Noctis is essentially like a seamless hub for all the skills to come together, but for support and specialties you need to be strategic in switching. I like the sounds, but Jack of all trades can come across as a bit bland if they don't have something else unique going for them. Maybe his ability to sense death will allow him to strategically pick targets that aren't being focused down that way your party can spread their grasp when overwhelmed. Or in turn better target down enemies that may be higher risk of death.

edit: ok this is a neat thought. During battle you may have a close call but, later you are fine. It happens in games, and in real life. You hear soldiers war stories. What if enemies get those same experiences of near death. What if Noctis has the ability to capitalize on that. That could be his augmenting trait along with his jack of all trade combat. I'll say it again. Fuck they should hire me.

Ah gotcha, props for the info.

With that said, like Injurai I also expect Noctis's ability to sense the death of others to play into combat at some capacity to level him out from everyone else and frankly, it'd be a missed opportunity if they didn't IMO. I'd actually be very intrigued at the thought of Noctis playing more of a support/nexus core type of role given his 'trades description.

I don't think Noctis will feel bland just because he can use all kinds of different weapon types. He can switch weapons mid combo and zero-shift around, no one else can do that AFAIK. I'd guess that makes him different enough to not feel bland against other people's skills with their respective weapons. He kind of seems like the most Kingdom Hearts kind of character to play as, and KH is really fun, so playing as Noctis should be fun as well. I'm actually more worried about the other characters. If they really want to take this multiple controllable characters seriously, then each character should basically play like a character you could solo the game through with. It seems Noctis has all kinds of zero-shifts & weapon changes, so what will they add to other characters repertoire to make up for not having those skills? Hopefully it'll be a bit like FFVI with Sabin's Blitzes and Cyan's sword techniques.

From the sounds of it, Noctis can use other characters' weapons, but each of them have unique abilities that only they can do with them. For example, Noctis can use guns, but only Prompto can actually aim with them a la a third person shooter. Everyone else fires their guns through an auto-lock-on. And when Ignis was still being talked about as a katana-user, they mentioned that he could do iaijutsu quick draw slashes with his sword, which seems like a character-specific ability given what we've seen of Noctis' fighting style.

That I don't mind entirely then. If it was somehow unavailable because you could only pick one or the other or something, I'd be a bit disappointed. As it stands, I hope they put in a lot of content like that.

I was given the impression that zero-shifting was unique to him as well given that we haven't seen any evidence that the others can do it along with it fitting given that Noctis is the Prince. Though I'm not entirely sure if that ability comes from the crystal or perhaps is a power gained from his brush with death.

I'm hoping that the other characters are fun to play as well with each having their own specialties and such. Some of Kayos' ideas regarding Ignis for instance sound like they would make him a pretty gun character to use.

Though it does seem that Noctis has to be in the party at all times, even if that does have story reasons behind it.

well wasnt it said that the only reason the other characters can use magic, sumons etc, is because Noctis is near them

Yes, that was what I meant for there being story reasons for why Noctis needs to be in the party and why his dying means game over. It's still a bit of an irritating mechanic though.

pretty much all the info we allready know on XV

hoping in comming interviews we'll see something about the world map, if theres more party members, etc

Yeah pretty much. It's just cool to see Nomura in a video interview or in video form at all. You know how hard it is to find a video interview of Nomura pre-2013. It's almost nigh impossible.

At first I didn't understand why locked on enemies would suddenly be adorned with lens flare, but then I realized Noct's whole thing about "seeing the light" on people who are going to die.

So the lens flare is there because they are about to die.

Which is hilarious in a way.

I don't know if this has been posted but...

...what is this? I don't know if I'm misreading the proportions/depth of view, but that looks way bigger than those Iron Giants. At first I thought it was a leaping Iron Giant, but it looks like it's standing behind that building, and thus, it's very very large. But otherwise, it looks very similar to the Iron Giants they were fighting.

So if the red haired guy is voiced by the same as Axel and Reno in Japanese, is that a half-confirmation he'll be voiced by Quinton Flynn in English? I think Flynn can pull off evil quite nicely.

there is huge area to move around and thats why it took so long to develop. They were thinking of shrinking down the size or scale but they decided to keep the scale. Considering the game' release timing it will be difficult to complete the whole story in one game.
HD towns Next-gen worlds are hard? Given the time it has taken, sometimes I legitimately wonder if with Final Fantasy x Nomura's Ambition he has actually bitten off more than he can chew with what he wants to achieve. Time will tell of course.

Based on the ambition I hope it doesn't end up having a 10-12 hour main story. I would probably get a lot more out of it, but still I like when stories last upwards to 35+ hours without doing all the side missions or looking for secrets.

I remember the psone days where I get excited swapping for disc 2/3 because there is still a lot of main story not yet done.

so they are chopping off their original plan for the story to multiple games then? expected.
No, that's not what they are saying. Just that with how big they are making FFXV, it will be hard to do it all by release. In fact, they say they are KEEPING the scale as originally intented, which is why it'll be hard to do it all in time of their planned release.

I wish they could tell us this "timeframe" they are considering. maybe 10th anniversary since the game was announced?
As I said earlier, if they are already worried if they can do everything in time, that would imply the release is scheduled for sooner rather than later. A late 2014 release sounds plausible.
