Have a look at some gameplay mechanics here. It might answer some questions.

Damn must've missed this thread, thanks for this dude. So I'm" guessing then that playing as Noctis, combat and strategy will be designed around his Warp and Link Form and switching up weapons in real time can allow for some different combos perhaps. They'll probably keep it simple and his Warp gauge will be filled up through means such as combat and resting.

I wonder will the Link Form be tied to the Warp gauge or does it work like a Limit Break, allowing you the ability only after fulfilling certain conditions in combat? Looking forward to more info.

but he says xehanort was his favorite enemy character, not favorite character overall.

He likes Ansem as specific enemy character but overall he likes Xehanort the most because he is the most significant villain in the game.

I'm going off what the translator said (around 11:30):

So, Master Xehanort who has been appearing for the past 10 years in the whole series is definitely one of my favourites. Also, in KH1, there was an enemy character called Ansem, and that is my favourite as well.

Guess it got lost in translation. Thanks for clarifying anyway!

What I'm most curious about is how the heck you play this, either its a very automated experience or else a very chaotic one.
Nomura actually commented on that, he said the combat will look a bit chaotic and what the fuck is happening for someone who is watching it, but the one who is in control should still be completely in control of it all.

yeah, that comment gave me great confidence. I can attest that some of my favorite combat systems and games look really chaotic and jarring for those around me.

I'm hoping that, beyond the ability to turn his weapon-select ring into a shield, Noct has the ability to project all of his swords at enemies simultaneously (like his dad apparently can) and do all sorts of other interesting stuff with it.

Curious to see how much each different sword affects gameplay. I wonder whether it'll be kind of like FFXIV, where each weapon type is basically a 'job' and comes with its own skillset.

At first I didn't understand why locked on enemies would suddenly be adorned with lens flare, but then I realized Noct's whole thing about "seeing the light" on people who are going to die.

So the lens flare is there because they are about to die.

Which is hilarious in a way.

This is kind of genius.

I've been wondering about this as well and I hope it might work something like this with each type of sword having a skillset or abilties attached to it perhaps like IX. Though Nomura did say that the enemies would represent jobs as traditionally seen in FF.

This is kind of genius.

Indeed, it's a nice touch really.

The insignia wasn't clear enough though. But it did look a little different.

Anyhow, we need more evidence to confirm.

Oh, it's completely different. Idola has a dragon, Hood Guy has a white wolf. Obviously we do need more evidence, but given past FF series trends, it seems likely that Niflheim won't be the Big Bad for the entire game, especially since Hood Guy seems to be positioned as Noctis' rival.

God, I can't wait to explore this world.

I love the artstyle of Accordo. Hope it's a big city (Lucis looks like it's quite big).

Also, Nilfheim, Solheim. Love the names.

A thought...considering words like "Niflheim" and "Solheim" are going to sound really weird being spoken by American dialectic English speakers, and considering we're talking about a Shakespeare-based story about royalty...

Do you think they're going to shoot for British or UK voice actors to play the main characters instead of American ones, similar to Drakengard 2, Xenoblade and The Last Story? I think it might actually make sense to do that.

They could get Matt Smith to voice Ignis!

Interesting. It should work, imo.

FFXII used american voice actors?

Since we're already on the way to abusing this for new info, and this is really skirting the megathread lines, we decided to close this.
