The first two and the last I described as tendencies, not rules. It is certainly not the courageous person who is a scrub, it is the coward. Hence there is a relationship, and a tendency there.

Aggression is inherent in all human activity. Picking up a cup is an aggressive act. Suppressing desire is an aggressive act, etc. All effects require force, and all forceful acts are acts of aggression. That is how I use the term.

So, again, no assumptions are made.
You used tendencies to justify the nonexistence of alternate responses/temperament from people who do not seek competition, and cited universal human experience as support. The bit where you connected those descriptors to the non-competitive person is where I take issue, though I do agree on one which is that to some degree everyone cares about winning.

Aggression is definitely not the right term for what you are describing. Maybe agency or action. Aggression has a bit more valence to it, but I feel you on that point.

The game is solid as fuck, it's fast, it's heavily cancel based, combos are generally shorter. People avoiding it cause it's not GG is pretty dumb at this point.

Well I want to play a new game because I like the period during a games release where everyone is relatively on the same starting ground and new shit is being discovered and it's exciting and fresh.

Edit: Q, how much of BBCP was changed from links to cancels?

The tendencies are unrelated to the universal claims. There is no argumentative connection between them.

I am firm on aggression being the correct term for what I am describing. I understand the term in a way similar to how Freud/Plato understand sexuality. It isn't a common understanding, but it is the correct one. ;)

A lot, but it's mostly on a character by character level. Like most ArcSys games.

You will NEVER get this with ArcSys games at all unless you live in Japan and play in arcades.

Fightman games always look slow when they are new, and start to look faster as people learn to play.
This is true, but the new RC's don't help much either. Movement looks really bad right now as well.

Game is pretty much at BBCS speeds right now

Our mash jab matches in 3rd Strike were the best.

But is that as valid when the testers are coming off of BB?

Wait and see. Its not always true i guess, but it usually is.

Remember when every MvC3 match was a timeout and people were vocal about their concerns over damage/time?

On the flipside, those concerns in SFxT ended up being fairly legit, though you could argue not that many people really actually knew how to really play vanilla SFxT.

That was pre-release MVC3 and apparently damage was adjusted since then. At least that's what Max said in one of his videos.

I do however remember that people were running into time outs with MVC3 but still that was pre-release and the game was completely new.

I generally agree with Karsticles. I don't think there exists a person that is not competitive. However, I separate "competitive" with "desire to win" a bit more finely than most. Someone may not care whether they win or lose a match but it doesn't mean they can't enjoy the act of competing against someone. If they can enjoy that aspect of it, they would be someone that is competitive to me.

the damage dudley gets off both options in his high-low mixups are insane.

too bad he sucks worse than dan and thawk for reasons though.

I agree it is usually true. I just think that GG might be similar enough to BB that it is an exception, like Ultimate is to Vanilla Marvel. I don't care too much about how fast it is, so long as the game feels interesting. BBCS was boring, and the speed was just part of that. SF is even slower, but the game is very interesting.

I think a lot of it depends on how much thinking I have to do in any given second of a game. Marvel is fast and demands a lot of thought, but the speed often destroys your ability to think about your actions. Street Fighter is slow, but there is a ton to think about in any given moment. BB was slow, and had a lot of matchups that felt flowcharty (Tager main speaking).

Oh shit how did it get past 10 already.

Vote on a thread title folks.

My vote goes to my own suggestion: FGW | Decapretated Expectations

Real talk Karst. Tager is one of the most boring fighting game characters ever made. He has a little more variety in CP but god damn every version of him before that was fucking TRASH

He would be fun as hell if the magnet blast were a normal move. He is fun when the opponent is magnetized. Though I usually pulled people in and got myself hit with his AA grab...I picked him because he doesn't have an air dash, and way back when I tried to play the game IAD was too hard for me. That was like...2 years ago. I actually look forward to coming into the game for a fresh experience once Nine is released. ;D

That magnet blast being a normal move would make him WAY too good haha. But that's part of his balance issues

If the magnet blast was a normal move id probably hate to play this game. It's like if Azrael had his absorb projectile as a normal move. It would be like injustice. Full screen zoning grossness.

Or just up the charge speed but time. Or take away the wall bounce when it hits. Just make it magnetize, nothing else.

I liked him until I played single player and found out he was Kokonoe's bitch. He still has the best theme song.

It charges up faster in CP he can aim it up now too

How often can he use it? My vague memory says that I got like 2-3 shots per match in CS. Without charging, of course.

I am listening to his theme right now because it is so good. "Power of sight!" What does that even mean in reference to his character?

My wife hated me playing that game. I mashed 360s during blockstun so hard. And I won so often...

At worst, from just videos, the GGX2 speed to Xrd speed isn't too bad. Reminds me of MvC2 to MvC3, to be honest, where the game speed is slightly slower, but all the possible tech and options discovered made things all fast anyway. And I'm fine with that if GG turns out that way when people figure stuff out.

You can get 2 or 3 shots off a round, he has times where he can charge up with no issues now
