This is the one month I decide to buy a comic mostly because of that Ms Marvel issue :p

What is the current original comic that everyone's hot on like people were with Locke and Key years ago?

I like the quite strict rules. So, after one week, spoilers ahoy?

Cover spoilers! Also, Saga/Lazarus/Black Science/Deadly Class are the new hype books in order of how many issues are available.

I pm'ed him about it earlier.

I gotta inform THE PEOPLE, maaaaan, you don't get it, the man Spike is keeping us down by featuring outdated solicit text we need to fight the power.

Also, the Loki book is going to be fucking ace, because Al Ewing is a RISING STAR at Marvel, managing to make gold even when saddled with Greg Fucking Land and doing all sorts of great stuff. Plus there's all his 2000AD stuff which is p. amazing. There is literally nothing to worry about on this front.

Wolverine, however, has been pretty meh under Cornell, and as good as Stegman is, unless there's a big change in the direction the book is taking it's gonna be a dud.

Saga is probably the current one.

And yeah, the trade waiters get it rough but after a week, one can go to town. Sometimes people will still be a little cautious on the really big reveals.

Loki book is going to be bad very very bad.

I know you're Mr Inside Guy so I assume you're saying this because you've read it or know people who have but that would surprise me. Just seems to me that the guy who killed it in Zombo and is doing good things in The Mighty Avengers would be a solid match for Loki.

Technically. I think people generally keep detailed plot stuff in spoiler tags well after one week. Unless something is years old, basically. Because we have trade readers and people who might jump on board a series late, etc. But that's the official rule, yes.

. . .

Yay Rat Queens! It's not a win but I'm happy it's represented in the top 3!

Really stoked for Red Lantern Supergirl this month! That Turok Dinosaur Hunter has my curiousity, if only to check out a Native American protagonist.

I wouldn't be surprised if a Batman Eternal issue wins book of the month.

coverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr spoillllllllllllers. Don't be those people.

:( #2 was better than #1

Do you listen to (or watch) Comicosity's The Hangout podcast, Messi? I think they love Harley and talked up the issue(s) in a big way on Wednesday's episode.

While we're talking about spoilers, please don't post preview pages. Link, don't post. Such a pisser. Teaser images are ok, though, I reckon? Or maybe just for new upcoming series? I dunno. Life's complicated.

I don't listen to any comic podcasts. Don't know any good ones.

There are so many good ones. But the Comicosity women on The Hangout are fun to listen to. I find it a treat to hear women talk comics. They like a lot of capes and DC, too, so you might like it.

I'll have to add this to my listening list. I have lots of free time at work.

Also, us Rachel Rising Vol 1 out of print? Haven't been able to find it anywhere for a reasonable price.

Speaking of podcasts, I've come around on the Comics Vine podcast. It's actually one of my favs now, not that I could tell you why. It's soothing, I think. I enjoy it even though they spend little time focusing on my indie darlings.

I don't know anything about RR vol 1 being out of print. Isn't it like $17? Not bad for 6 issues. I know you're mainly a paper guy, but it's also on Comixology for the cRaZy LOW LOW price of 9.99!

Nice, been meaning to get into Saga because of the inspirational art for a while but other stuff came up.

Batman 23: I'm quite certain that had Snyder reorganized his batman run it would be a classic. As it is now, it's just a good book told in a haphazard way. Your first big story is the court of owls, a rushed beginning and ending in who the court is and the main villian at the end. Then you have a Death of the Family hype arc that falls short because it panders to tie-in issues of the other batbooks and just seems like bat people whining about how much a jerk Bruce is. Now we have another good arc in Zero Year, which should be the start of the new 52 Batman launch but instead comes two years later. Snyder could have set up the Court in this long arc and then set off the fireworks for the Court of Owls story properly.

All this quality feels like a waste.

Forget this talk. The series is barely just finished, the last HC is still to drop, and it's still one of the best books around. Locke & Key is just as hot as ever man.

Messi, you read female DC books, but don't list wonder woman. You don't read it? Tried it and disliked it?

I think you misinterpreted me, I just meant a series that is new and hot for the year like Locke and Key when it came out and everyone was raving about it. Like comic of the year kind of stuff. I wasn't implying about some chronological decline in quality :p

NONE of my picks made it to the top 3, so, I'm gonna spend a whole month pretending I have better taste than y'all. By the way, the correct picks were :

THIRD - X-Men Legacy #23
SECOND - Saga #18
FIRST - FF #16

All three of my picks made the top three, although I had Uncanny Avengers ahead of Rat Queens.

Pretty Deadly #4 was pretty good. The series doesn't break my brain as much anymore, the way it did in the first two issues. Looking forward to the showdown in the arc-closing 5th issue.

I can't wait to own a mountain man Guy Gardner figure. Loved that Red Lanterns #27 featured, like, romance and stuff. Don't get enough of that in comics.

You should read Aquaman Vol 1.

As long is the book isn't about Lomi being homeless, looking for clothes, eating a sandwhich, getting stuck in the middle of a yurf war, talking to his first lack person or being homeless it should be okay.

Haha I'm just kidding around man, I'm just being subversive with the word choice (while bigging up L&K haha). I think the Remender books at Image are probably the big buzz titles right now, although Saga still seems to be the newest book that gets recommended most consistently when someone heads in to the OT and asks what's up.

One last thing I wanted to say about those marvel books I got. For those who are trade buyers and appreciate when a creator/publisher makes an effort to have a consistent spine format, the new marvel now trades are a joy haha. It seems silly, but I really appreciate stuff like that. DC have been good since the new 52, although even with the first run of trades there was some inconsistences where they wanted the DC logo to be and what size, exactly what it looked like etc. These marvel books are all great with a nice little character head/shoulder portrait for each volume. (right clicking and opening in a new tab seems to get the image at a decent size)

Stumbled upon this at a used bookstore yesterday during my lunch break. Been meaning to order it from Amazon for a while, but the availability has been spotty. Glad to have found it for half price.

Haven't read it since its original release as a monthly. It'll be like reading it all over again. =)

Started reading the IDM Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series after seeing the leaked photos of what the turtles are going to look like in the new movie. I felt it started off a little lacking but it's gotten better and I'm digging it now. Krang is the most interesting character right now and Mike is still the best turtle (fuck the haters).

We're now Unofficial Official Best Friends.

I've always had a soft spot for Guy and Tora. It's really nice to see it playing out like a on again / off again relationship should.

Good to see the Legion fans representing! =)
I wish DC would put more collections out, particularly of the 90s stuff. I really want them to collect the storyline that closed out the series and led into Legion Lost. I believe it was a 4-parter that crossed over with Legionnaires, and they were up against the Blight(?). I think it got a release as a (flawed) 100 page special, but not tpb. I loved that story; Legion's at its best when they're down, but not out.

Hasn't Great Darkness Saga already been collected at least twice before, tim? Or maybe you mean in digital form.

That's weird both my Thor trades have black spines, not white.

Hahah right, so yours are the panini uk editions man. Marvel have a uk trade deal with panini for some books, so every time a marvel book in that deal comes out, panini do a uk edition, which the upside to them is they come out super fucking quick, like within a few weeks of a storyline finishing. I guess this is to get them in bookstores quick or something. Then Marvel US print the hardcovers or paperbacks depending on the series for the whole world, these end up on our amazon too, then a good bit down the line the marvel US paperbacks if it had a HC version first come out. The panini books come out so quick and are a fantastic price, I would go with them if not for wanting the HCs. If you hit up amazon for a marvel book, you'll see there's usually a HC and two different paperback printings.

And Rafa, I know man, what can you do though.I have a hawkeye one that I had sitting somewher else, it's about as thick as the Secret Avengers one. Five issues, has a point one story in there too. Thankfully you can get those paperbacks for pretty cheap, £6 usually ($10 I guess).

And again, Messi, Wonder Woman??

Ha yes I see.

There is the Panini edition and the hardback for Thor on Amazon, with the paperback out later.

I have both the Panini editions. Is there any disadvantage to them?
They seem solid to me.

They had that really nice deluxe hardcover a few years back and then it went out of print again. The new tpb/digital edition has all the extras from that hardcover release.
