Good to see the Legion fans representing! =)
I wish DC would put more collections out, particularly of the 90s stuff. I really want them to collect the storyline that closed out the series and led into Legion Lost. I believe it was a 4-parter that crossed over with Legionnaires, and they were up against the Blight(?). I think it got a release as a (flawed) 100 page special, but not tpb. I loved that story; Legion's at its best when they're down, but not out.

I don't think they'll reprint anymore of the DnA stuff anytime soon since that Legion Lost hardcover sold like absolute dogshit (like, to the extent that the trade was cancelled).

Aye, they cancelled the Legion Worlds trade as well :(

They did reprint Legion of the Damned, so not all of them are faulty - if you get one with the title in white you'd be fine.

Ah well, we can't all have good taste I suppose.

A fair number of people will vouch for my woeful taste in characters.

I see Marvel are releasing the complete vol 1 of Runaways in July so I guess I will finally get to read that. I am also pretty excited for the Wolverine and the X-Men omnibus in June. I love the look of the art in that book.

I was thinking of going to C2E2 in Chicago this April, but I've never been to a convention before. I've only been into comics for about 2 years, so I don't really know what goes on at these places. What type of things can I buy there? Do you bring your own books to get signed? I figure it'd be cool to see some of the big names they have coming, like Snyder, Tynion, and Tomasi. Anyone been to C2E2 before?

All these Marvel #1's. I can't keep up with all these reboots. What's this one called? Marvel new now point one now or whatever? Maybe I'll try the new Wolverine.

So I've got a question for you guys. I bought the first X-Factor Complete Collection that came out last week and I'm loving it. Next one doesn't come out until May. I was kinda sorta maybe toying with the idea of picking up the regular trades a few at a time, but the numbering looks a bit odd. Did Marvel switch back to older numbering in the middle of the series or something? Because it looks like they go from trades including issues in the #30-40 range, to issues in the #225+ range.

Yes issue after issue 50 it went back to original numbering .

1-50 then 200-260

After #50, they went to #200 and continued until #262.

Ah, alright. Thanks. I was thinking that if there were actually 200+ issues, the standalone trades would be a bit overwhelming. XD

I may wait on the Complete Collections anyhow, though.

Bring your own books. You can buy just about anything to do with the hobby. Big name creators will be there just to sign stuff and interact with the fans. There will be an artist alley where artist will do sketches for a price. It's a fun time so long as you have some money to spend.

Ha yes I see.

There is the Panini edition and the hardback for Thor on Amazon, with the paperback out later.

I have both the Panini editions. Is there any disadvantage to them?
They seem solid to me.

Nah man. Slightly different trade design, not HC and doesn't have digital code buuuut comes out quicker and cheaper. It's not an option for every series, so there's not much in it either way, just depends what you're after.

Well at least it's not Cyclops. He is a dick head.

:( #2 was better than #1

yea #2 was great

I was waiting on the trade. :/ They need to f off with hardcovers. Every time I see the ads for whatever in the DC stuff and it say "Hardcover Graphic Novel Collection" or whatever it makes me want to punch my comic.

Anybody reading Aquaman post Johns? Any good with Parker?

yea!

They had that really nice deluxe hardcover a few years back and then it went out of print again. The new tpb/digital edition has all the extras from that hardcover release.
And to think I skipped out on the hardcover because I didn't care for the cover art. =( I wonder what kind of extras I missed out on. (I do have the two previous softcover editions.)

That's too bad. I haven't seen it at any of my local comic shops. And like I said before, it's sporadically available on Amazon. I'm lucky to have found it the way I did.

I would kill for the Chris Sprouse and Jason Pearson stuff to be collected. Those two artists were pretty good at capturing the youthful aspect of the characters.

Messi, I know you love reading DC women and therefore hype up Harley Quinn and Catwoman, but are they genuinely good books apart from their characters? It would just be a disservice to recommend a bad book just because you love the character. I'm with you on buying any book with a favorite character (guess why I am buying Revolutionary War...), but I would like to know if Harley has the same quality of writing as Saga, Sex Criminals, Rat Queens.

I've read the first two issues, and while its not a bad book, its nowhere near being on the level of Saga & co. It's a pretty fun book, but judging it from an objective point of view, I wouldn't rate it much beyond average.

But it IS only two issues in.

To me I find Harley to be well written and genuinely funny. They manage to give Harley a distinct voice that I feel is missing in the likes of Suicide Squad. I genuinely love all 3 issues of Harley, I am not lying and would not push a book I didn't feel strongly about. It's hardly fair to compare Harley to those Indie darlings, but the book more than holds its own vs other hero books and is arguably one of dc's best books right now. Sure my love of Harley plays into it but I love the trappings around her also, I love her relationships and I love how hopelessly in love with Joker she is regardless of her well being. But apart from that I like that it is one of the books that leaves a smile on my face when I finish reading it, it's a relentlessly happy book that wants you to smile along with Harley. Few books do that for me (Hawkeye is the other). I didnt single handidly get harley to be the best book last month and the 2nd the month before, others read it and enjoyed it enough to vote for it. I am fairly sure Harley wasn't far off the top 3 this month and was fairly high up the dc rankings. I really loved this months issue, I've gone back and read it a few times and I find the art to fit the title perfectly.

In short, Harley is a great book that deserves to be given a shot.

As for Catwoman, I won't recommend it. I buy it because I love Selina. But it's a bad book that deserves better.

I'm sorry that I lay on the love for Harley so much I am just very excited that she has her own book again and that it has hit a tone I really enjoy. She is far and away my favourite character and I just want to see the book grow stronger. If I am annoying people I will reel it in and act like a sane human.

Never apologize for love. I will never apologize for buying all of New Excalibur.

And I might give Harley a try! I hope it's something like that BTAS episode where she tries to go straight.

Thats what they are going for, and sure she slips back into criminal and violent things at times. Wouldn't be much of a book if she succeeded in going straight. But it seems to be about Harley trying to start fresh. #2 was mostly about her and Ivy trying to rescue animals that are going to be euthanised.

So how many of you guys are buying the Infinity hardcover next week? I'm on the fence, but if it gets a 50% off discount at IST like I'm sure it will, I'll have to cave. This is the first Marvel event in a while that I enjoyed.

Saga definitely pulled me back on board. I'm glad for the
time jump.

One question, why didn't Alana 's
headshot
on
Gwendolyn
kill her
? It didn't see to do anything at all.

Alana's Heartbreaker pistol (I think that is what it's called) is non-lethal. That point has been brought up a couple times in previous issues

I've made my Infinity complaints and i think they are going to be enough for me to save my $37.50 IST price and use that towards the Uncanny X-Force Remender omnibus in march. My main gripe is an oversized hardcover for tiny panels and very few moments of grandeur. It's an ideas book that's rushed and art that's cramped down to avoid two page spreads to make for easier digital reading...my love of oversized hardcovers is near ruined for how marvel and dc do comics now. I have all the issues on my ipad thanks to the digital codes that came with my print issues, so i have it in the format it was meant to be in.

I Like Harley like I liked Powergirl. Both lighthearted takes on the superhero theme with some satire on certain things. Harly has satire on all the dark and edginess that Nu52 has been plagued with.

The satire and great character work has been awesome.

I feel pretty much the same way about the art. Most of it is gorgeous, but I wish it was given more room to breathe. For such an epic, intergalactic adventure, I would like to have seen larger panels and more double-page spreads. Despite having all the individual issues and accompanying digital copies, I'm keeping my Amazon pre-order. Also, what's "IST"?

instocktrades.com is the trades branch of dcbservice.com, a good place to pre-order books from. IST typically has big new releases for 50% off on release week, free shipping if you spend $50.

Even if you do pay shipping, its a flat $4.

Final volume of Locke & Key drops this week, too. I'm gonna get the version with the series slipcase.

We will always have last month where Harley Quinn defeated the final issue of Locke and Key. I am pretty sure after reading the first volume of Locke and Key last week... That an injustice occurred last month. As much as I love Harley.

Not many people read Locke and key here? Or are there a lot of trade waiters.

I've been reading the floppies. I got into it around the time the second hardcover (Head Games) came out, and I've been reading it since. I buy the hardcovers as they come out because it's so good that it's worth owning.
