Halo: Campaign Evolved |OT| We're right back where we started, Master Chief.

Visuals are fucking incredible. Everything from the cutscenes to the environments and lighting is A1. Well fucking done. Playing Quality mode on PS5 Pro.
Dont know what the fuck the nerds are complaining about, been a blast so far. Gameplay is still clearly intact. Only wish it had a photo mode.

HUGE bonus points for the level of HUD customization in this. Playing ocmpletely HUDless and it loks and feels fucking awesome.

I'm sorry but 'blasting' is a copyright of Marathon

To me this seems fine. It is not offensively bad, and the remake was clearly made with the Fortnite audience in mind. Which is good, in all honesty. The kids don't really know what Halo is, in all honesty.

Hopefully this comes to NS2 as well.

See, to me while that looks fine.

The animations, chief's movement etc clearly shows that this is a first person game first and foremost.

Like how they added a third person mode to RE: Village as well but it doesn't really fit well there either.

Just found out about the Fanta promotional skin.

You have until tomorrow to claim it.

have played this campaign over the years 6+ times. So far this is the best experience I've had. Plays how it should and looks great!

However, the menu screens on Xbox looks like shit, so much banding and the contrast is horrible. Cut scenes also seem to jitter. Fortunately once the gameplay starts it's very smooth.

Fanta, you have until tomorrow to get it. Needs to be done on your phone.

I still haven't got my code :/

Thanks, will give it a go shortly.

That armor color looks so garish but I still want it, lol.

Those are all the same movements you would see in multiplayer.

A 17G update for PC.

Edit. Downloaded and tried to run the game and it's saying my GPU driver is out of date. Time to update.

Played through this yesterday via game pass, and I thought it was great. I love Halo 1, and I feel like they pretty much nailed the visuals and game feel.

I don't get the hate. It was a super fun 6 or so hours.

I finished the main campaign last night on Heroic. I also got all the skulls and terminals in the main campaign. It was a little glitchy, but overall I enjoyed myself. Some of my complaints have already been addressed with the first update.

I finished the first new mission, Boarding Action, and enjoyed it as well. It started off with a little humor and ended with a fun yet challenging big arena battle.

Did they fix the LASO glitch?
nope, it still works.

Speaking of the LASO glitch, holy shit they need to turn off allies aggro'ing towards you just because theyre dumb enough to walk into exploding grunts

Because modifiers or not, it takes like three rounds of an AR for them to ruin your run. TaR is a fucking nightmare rn

They restore your shield. Usually there's only one left. So I just punch them to death if they get aggro with me.

What glitch?

Interested in knowing ... for reasons ..
You can cheese laso now. Basically you just turn modifiers on, play a level on laso, after completing it you turn the modifiers off and restart on pillar of autumn, grab the skull to your right as soon as you start and save quit. This forces the game to save your progress. Then you just rinse and repeat for every level

so ..

- play and complete a level on LASO with modifiers on, then turn them off.
- After beating it, restart on pillar of autumn and grab the skull.
- Play the next level with modifiers on, repeat step 2.
- Profit ?

Did you use a guide and if so, which one?

Got two missions left on heroic, I've really enjoyed running through again. That mission before Keyes could have been made better though.

Yeah pretty much!
Make sure to turn the modifiers off before restarting on pillar of autumn however, then just turn them back on for the next level

Game looks amazing but Im struggling to carry on after a few chapters. Nostalgia can only take you so far. And I replayed the trilogy + reach right before infinite.

It would be cool with a completely new game that looks and plays like this, because they finally nailed the way the first Halo looked like in updated fidelity.

You can jump in straight to the three new missions, that's new content with the same engine/fidelity.

Its pretty hard to do when they can kill you in a split second. Especially since johnson and keyes both respawn now

Didn't think of Truth & Reconciliation. I'm only just getting onto LASO T&R. It was bad enough on legendary in the hanger. Didn't think of Keys and co going ape shit. Yey.

I went old school and used the Maka guide. I've been using his Halo guides since forever ago, maybe even the OG trilogy.

A few of the skulls are REALLY tough to get. As soon as I got there I had flashbacks of trying to make precise grenade jumps and multiple crouch jumps in a row, as they were in the same spot as Anniversary and/or MCC. I didn't feel like spending hours on a few skulls like I did back in the day, so the two that I passed up I used the Acrophobia skull. The skull on the grav lift in Keys though, I did do it legit and it took me like an hour before I got it. 🤣

Its honestly the one and only major hurdle. Outside of silent cartographer, the marines become non-consequential by the latter half of AoTCR

Though the prequel missions may be a pain in the ass since Johnson is always glued to your side

Played a few hours last night and really enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Music is great. Game looks overly flat and bright by default, I had to lower the brightness and increase the contrast. Playing on the Pro in Performance mode. Smooth the vast majority of the time except a minor hiccup here and there. Maybe once an hour. I'm guessing that it's a loading or traversal stutter because of UE5 rather than a frame rate drop. Can't wait to do some co-op with friends and family.

I finished it Monday night and wanted to give myself a bit to really think it over.

It's a 6/10. It's unnecessary and worse then the original in nearly every way but better then Anniversary in nearly (every) way.

  • It definitely feels weird to play Halo on a PlayStation console (PS5 Pro).
  • Performance was fine. I noticed a couple drops in cutscenes but other than that it was a pretty locked 60.
  • Aesthetically I think it's fine. I think some levels look really great like 343 Guilty Spark while other are more hit or miss. The game still has this shiny look to anything Forerunner which I'm not a fan of.
  • Controls feel "fine" but the hit reg is terrible. Getting the shotgun for the first time felt like shit because it really brought out how bad the hit reg was just because of the close quarters with the flood.
  • Sprint trivializes multiple encounters because you can literally just sprint past enemies. This is especially apparent in the flood levels.
  • The prequel missions are pretty shit. I didn't hate playing them but they didn't do anything for me, and it proves that 343i do not understand Master Chief as a character as he won't stfu the entire time.
I wouldn't suggest people pay full price and should either wait for a sale or play via Game Pass.

I watched the Act Mans comparison of assault on control room. One thing I noticed was that in the final corridor that leads to the control room 343 industries have put a dividing wall in the middle of the corridor.

This shows the people at 343 don't really know what they're doing.

The corridor leading to the control room is very big, not quite like a hangar, but still. The size and simplicity speaks for itself: it leads to an important place (It's at the top of a pyramid in snow covered mountains ffs). The size and emptiness of the corridor makes the player seem smaller, to give the place a sense of awe. Cluttering the corridor with stuff diminishes that. It also obscures the view when walking down the final corridor, you can't walk in the middle and get the sense of the scale of the place or even see the whole door when approaching.

I actually appreciated that wall being there. Made escaping at the beginning of two betrayals on legendary easier since it provided cover whereas in the og there was no cover

I rarely replay the levels with the flood, but I can imagine it making that part less frustrating. It does make the place less awe inspiring though.

It's most "those" people. The vast majority of fans like it fine. Its not perfect, but good.

Are there rocket launcher wielding floods in the remake? That was the thing I hated the most about the original.

I don't specifically recall that but one of the areas later had a bunch of grunts with plasma grenade launchers that was a bitch, but I think that was a secluded area for a Skull so the challenge was higher than normal.

Finished the OG campaign, the music and final 'run' to the Pelican (changed to a Longsword here (???)) was still just as exhilarating.

Now onto the new missions.

Incredible experience on PS5 Pro, looks and sounds incredible. I hope Halo Studios continues remaking Halo 2,3 and Reach. We also need a multiplayer title, MCC remake maybe?

Campaign Evolved is a quality title and hopefully a new start to Halo.

They've got the tech part of it down, now the question is how long it takes them to author a new game with this tech.

Yes. The two sections on two betrayals notorious for rocket flood still have those rocket flood. (Though the ones puppy-guarding the tunnel between the second and third generators seem to be gone now)

And the library may have one surprise waiting for you on the second elevator ride

I know I'm maybe in the minority on this, but as an old and grumpy Halo fan, I'd rather they would remake every other game (with more quality control of course), expect 4 and 5. Those are shit. xD

Unfortunately can count Halo 2, 3 remake out. Thanks to the youtube retards who cry about trivial shit.

Honestly I'd take a remake of 4 if it meant this level of graphics (or better) with the newer infinite-inspired art style.
All the game really needed was better balancing with the promies, larger and less corridor level designs, and better enemy pathfinding.

Halo 5 though…theres no saving that one's campaign. you can polish a turd but itll still be a turd
