20 reasons why Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a better WRPG than The Witcher 3

1. Superior melee combat
Far more moves, weapon options and it's just smoother and faster.

2. Superior ranged combat
The crossbow in The Witcher 3 is damn useless whereas the bows in Odyssey are quick, devasting and accurate.

3. More charming protagonist
Kassandra has the charm and grace to match the greatest stars of cinema. Geralt is as miserable and gruff as a fail son at Thanksgiving.

4. Larger map
The map in Odyssey is almost twice the size of The Witcher 3.

5. Better boats
You have a refugee dinghy in TW3. In Odyssey you have a proud ship of war fit for the high seas which can be customized and upgraded extensively.

6. Better story
TW3 you are basically just the backdrop to the story of Ciri and her MacGuffin magic and there is a little political nonsense with characters that barely have any introduction. In Odyssey you roam the greatest era of the greatest civilization while solving the mysteries of your past and influencing the future.

7. Better DLC
The Witcher 3 DLC you chase around a genie and a vampire. In Odyssey you get all new gameplay exploring the mystical land of Atlantis.

8. Better mounts
In odyssey you can customize your mount and your horse is named after the God Phobos, son of Ares. In The Witcher your horse is named after a roach.

9. Better exploration
There is more to see and do in Odyssey. You can climb every mountain and swim to the bottom of the ocean.

10. Better sex
In TW3 you can romance Triss the rat exterminator or Yennifer who takes every opportunity to emasculate poor Geralt while simultaneously being clingy and a shrew. In Odyssey Kassandra bangs whoever she wants with wild abandon.

11. Better Scaling
In TW3 enemies and quests were a set level so therefore were often too easy and gave awful rewards. In Odyssey enemies and rewards scale.

12. Better Upgrades
Weapons and armor can be fully upgraded with many more options and transmog in Odyssey.

13. Better crafting
Instead of making useless "dedoctions" like Witcher 3 crafting in Odyssey focuses on useful things like weapons and ship upgrades. The supplies are more universal and there are more options for obtaining them.

14. Better graphics and performance
Not really debatable. Everything is just that much more beautiful in Odyssey.

15. Better tracking
Instead of following miles of trails and scent marks like in TW3 in Odyssey you follow clues and geography.

16. More epic battles
If you want you can conquer and defeat every army in the Aegean in Odyssey. In TW3 you fight at most a few guys at a time.

17. More dangerous enemies
Start trouble in Odyssey and an endless wave of mercenaries will be sent to track you down and put an end to you. In TW3 your actions have no consequences outside of story beats and a few worthless guards being sent after you.

18. Better stealth
In Odyssey you can become the ultimate assassin slipping silently into a camp and deftly murdering every soul like a whisper on the wind. In TW3 you stomp around clumsily and must fight your way through every situation.

19. Better antagonists
Instead of knocking off the Nazgul from Lord of the Rings like TW3 in Odyssey you pursue a dangerous cult that has infiltrated every level of society.

20. Better setting
The amazing world of ancient Greece is brought to life brilliantly in Odyssey. TW3 has some generic castles, fields and swamps.

I love Odyssey but overall? No The Witcher 3 really shines OUTSIDE of the disappointing main story which was easily the worst in the trilogy.

Odyssey and Origins/Valhalla were inspired by The Witcher 3 no doubt and as you said improved A LOT on the gameplay variety and combat.

Also Kassandra as the Eagle Bearer?

I gave 20 reasons to support my position. You gave zero. The fact that so many of you are willingly overlooking the many faults of TW3 because "aloof guy with gruff voice is so kewl" is why CDPR thought they could get away with releasing the broken turd that is Cyberpunk.

You think it's a matter of pride for them?
I don't know what the matter is, but it's not a good showing from them, it looks like they perfectly know that their bloat and forced level gating is shit so they gave the players a payd trick to speed up all of that.

Eh tbh in done with asscreed. Bloated map, mediocre story/characters. Junky gameplay. So called ”RPG” element.

Last one i played was Odyssey couldnt even force myself to finish it. What a waste of time if you Ask me.

Witcher 3 while it had its problems was overall a much better game imo. Rich Story, interesting characters etc.

They intentionally pushed that bloat in order to charge people for the "time savers".

Maybe 1 or 2 of your reasons are even adressing rpg as genre. And I'm generous here.

W3 is a better game in most respects but there is something about odyssey's setting and atmosphere that I love to bits. I just wish the main story quests weren't so aggressively level gated.

1. Superior melee combat. Lol no.

2. Superior ranged combat. The Crossbow in Witcher 3 acts like Bloodborne's gun. It's a "stun" weapon first, not a damage dealer. Meh at the bows in Odyssey.

3. More charming protagonist. Kassandra is charging, of course. But she's no Geralt.

4. Larger map. Odyssey's map is tediously big. Witcher 3 is just on the verge of being too big.

5. Better boats. Meh?

6. Better story. Lol no.

7. Better DLC. Ahahahahahahaha. Assassin's Creed having DLC better than Witcher 3's GOD TIER expansions. Ahahahahaha.

8. Better mounts. Meh.

9. Better exploration. More to do an see in Odyssey? Not really. There's more unique content and situations in Witcher 3, easily.

10. Better sex. Ahahahaha, no.

11. Better Scaling. Level scaling is tedious. Witcher 3 does the correct, old school Gothic 1/2/Morrowing zone scaling. Perfection. It also has OPTIONAL universal level scaling, whereas it's permanently forced in Odyssey.

12. Better Upgrades. Lol, no.

13. Better crafting. Lol, no.

14. Better graphics and performance. Hmm. Nah and definitely nah.

15. Better tracking. Nah.

16. More epic battles. Tedious battles*.

17. More dangerous enemies. Meh.

18. Better stealth. Sure. Geralt doesn't need to be stealthy.

19. Better antagonists. Lol, no.

20. Better setting. Lol no.

RPG is about story and choices not who is bangable or what has more interesting moves in combat. The only semi rpg points you even mentioned are equipment crafting.

Actually no. I've played rpgs for like 30 years and the vast majority of them starting in the SSI gold box days had almost no choices. Witcher and Odyssey both have lots of choices so even if that was a prerequisite which it isn't they would both still be considered rpgs. That falls under story. 3,6, and 19 all reference story elements.

People, well, a certain slice of society's ....om ....ers, have this predilection to rank everything. This better than that. That lower than this. Kinda boring.

Better code lines.
Better farts.
Better dogs.
Better fish. Dis fiss better dan dat fiss! Bigger fiss, badder fiss, meaner fiss, uglier fiss.

I played hundreds of hours of AC Origin's, Odyssey and Valhalla before playing The Witcher 3, which i finally got hooked into earlier this year, and after playing the game for over 200 hours, i noticed Ubisoft copied The Witcher 3 in every way, so basically if not for The Witcher 3, those AC games wouldn't of been made, so i disagree, all 4 are good games, with minor differences, and i enjoyed them, it's not 1 is better than the other for me. 4 games to play is better than just 1.

AC and the Witcher have almost nothing in common. Witcher didn't invent open world RPGs.

I disagree, and i never said Witcher did invent RPGs, thats not the topic, there were loads of rpgs before the witcher 3, but even the flyting was in the witcher 3 first, the games have a lot in common, you should argue about points made by posters and not your own.

It's a challenge in Valhalla that was used in Witcher 3 once instead of having a brawl. a rhyming competition

It's a real part of viking culture. They got it from there not the witcher. Ubisoft is too big of a company to copy some eurojank indie game.

Your bias is showing a bit, and it was still in The Witcher 3 first exactly the same as in Valhalla, so maybe CDPR got it from there as well, Ubisoft quite clearly changed the AC series from the old AC to open world style based on The Witchers 3 success and it worked, they sold more AC games, your entiltled to your opnion, but mine won't change either, i don't prefer one company over another.

As I said there were plenty of open world rpgs before the witcher. Did you play black flag? It was before the witcher as well and played very similar to origins and Odyssey. They just added a leveled loot system and more complex skill tree. It was a natural progression of the series. It had nothing to do with the witcher. Next you're going to tell me they stole their ideas from the Risen series.

Who said TW3 invented the genre? I said Ubisoft copied the Witcher 3, which they obviously did.

The games have almost nothing in common besides being open world rpgs. The Witcher is edgelord dark fantasy bullshit whereas Odyssey is historical fiction.

And again i agree about the open world rpgs before the witcher, Bethesda games for a start, i'm not arguing that point, why are you still,

Yes i did play Black Flag to completion and while it did have an open world, quite a bit of it was cut off with a barrier, which was story gated and still had those tailing missions etc, you couldn't go anywhere you wanted from the start,

And i think Ubisoft did copy the Witcher 3 and disagree with you, you really don't like the game do you.

The Witcher gated off its story areas. Bad memory or what? Did they copy that from Black Flag?
