A 5-Year-Old Just Beat Bloodborne: An Interview

As a dad, I am jealous. My kids were only beating Halo, Resistance, Dead Space and Borderlands at that age.

Ok, they were more like 10 but still... ;)

I watched Aliens with my father when I was six and I turned out (mostly) okay. I don't consider that child abuse--let's be careful where we throw that label. There is no guidebook for parenting and most just do the best they can.
Its not child abuse, I dont want to suggest that. But I would never do that with my child at that age!

Meh, i had played plenty of violent games and watched porn tapes by 6 and i turned out just fine.
This. Do these concern trolls here realize kids have phones these days and are on YouTube and TikTok and see shit way worse than Bloodborne all the time?

This dad is desperate for 15 minutes of fame, even if he has to use his own child to get it...
Why do you have to turn this into negative news ?

Boy some of you guys here are real ugly and nasty people

Btw this is what he says :

"Ezra always loves watching me play my games. He has watched me play Sekiro, Dark Souls 1 and 3, Demon’s Souls Remake, and most recently Bloodborne. He would constantly ask me if he could try, and for a while, I would not allow it. But one day, I decided to just see how he would handle the opening section of Bloodborne. He did surprisingly well, so I let him just keep playing until it got too hard. But he never wanted to stop playing!"

And that is your response?

Cmon man be a decent and nice human being please im begging you

So you think the dad forced his kid to get good at Bloodborne for his own benefit? Which is what exactly? Lol. Also how is it that you force someone to be good at these games? I don’t think you thought this through.

Seriously I don’t gets these dumb takes. The stupid is out this morning.

What's the harm? Its not like he's gonna go out on the streets and hunt down werewolves.

I think most of us can agree werewolves don't exist. And if they did, this kid would be the first hunter I send to take em down.

A 5 year old kid cant in most cases distinguish between reality and fantasy.

If he gets nightmares after this and pees into his bed then its parents fault. ;)

I tried to get my father into gaming when I was a child. Using the keyboard was too difficult for him though.

It was good he tried, but sad that us gaming together didn't become a reality.

The way this dad is proud of his son's accomplishment speaks to me in a deep way.

Good gaming, bad parenting.
Oh yeah look at this horrible dad. What a terrible parent.

Look at the terrible parenting how much his kid is suffering here.

Look away, child, that fire too too violent for you. You have seen some IRL snuff film on the evening news and lived through the Momo challenge but this animated monster is going to scar you for life.

Hilarious that we've got so many hysterical scolds in this thread fussing about how bloody and violent Bloodborne is. Our generation was playing Mortal Kombat at his age and our parents were none the wiser, get over it.

You talk about dumb takes when you’ve just done one.

What he does behind closed doors is down to him. He and his son can do whatever the fuck they want to do. I didn’t mention anything about the game or his sons ability at the game.

I was talking about his desperate bid for social points.

I’m specifically talking about posting it on social media and doing an “interview” online to get his fifteen minutes of fame.

We live in a society where people like posting their life stories for all to see.

If he didn’t want any “fame” he wouldn’t have posted about his sons “achievement” publically the way he has.

Also people can’t post things publically and then get defensive if they don’t like the response. The simple solution is keep things private.

They mad cause the kid didn’t need an “easy mode” to beat it.

All these pretenders acting like they grew up Amish and shit.

Yeah my kid beat Rom last year when he was 7.... he is stuck at The One Reborn.

I must tell him that a 5 year old beat it, it might be the motivation he needed to get it done.

OCD you are living up to your name.

If you don't want to read about this guy then you shouldn't have looked in the thread.

Also he didn't run to 60 Minutes. If your big fear is that he is milking this for worldwide fame or something. This is fucking goombastomp.com.

Honestly I don't see what your malfunction is. You are mad this guy is proud of his son? Really?

I get your point, but I don't think this was the case in this story.

I'd like to know what made you think this was a desperate bid for social points though.

Props to the kid for beating it but wow at the Dad for letting a 5 year old play bloodborne. Also the did at an easy mode was unnecessary. It just comes across as elitist and we shouldn't celebrate denying more accessibility for players.

Accessibility =/= easy mode, you’re falling for bigoted people’s traps.

There are disabled people who platinum Souls games with their feet... with their feet.

Impressive.

My son beat all levels on Super Meat Boy (360) when he was 5. I thought that was amazing, and was sure I had spawned a boy-wonder.

Thick as pig shit now though 😂

Told them there was a pot noodle in the kitchen cupboard if he wanted to try one for lunch. He disappeared for 5 minutes before skulking back into the living room, and asked ‘how do I make boiled water?’.

He was 15 at this point! 😂😂

Five year olds really shouldn’t be playing video games that feature the level of violence, gore and aesthetic design that Bloodborne does. This really shouldn’t be something to argue about.

But to be honest, I think five year olds playing any video game is bad. I have friends and relatives with kids who are glued to their iPads on asinine shit like Roblox.

My 3 years old daughter had nightmares after playing Super Mario 64, she said a big white ghost chased her in her sleep lol. I can't imagine her playing Bloodborne. I played Carmageddon, Blood and all that nasty games when i was a kid but i'm trying to protect her from violent games/cartoons etc. Some kids can take it as it seems.

That is crazy good hand eye coordination for a 5 years old to beat bloodborne...

A 5 years old beating Logarius, Father Gascoigne, Ebrietas, Gehrman etc? Wow....cant even imagine

Me at 5 years old ? Still catching buterflies at the garden...

I believe this kid is really smart ( have a very high IQ)
They say he didn't fight optional bosses yet, so no Logarius, no Amygdala, No Ebrietas, DarkBeast...maybe not even Blood-starved beast. Probably beat Cleric Beast and Witch of Hemwick to get the badge and rune tool. I couldn't say for sure, but they said he didn't beat optional bosses, so...

At the same time. There's nothing wrong with more options for people. Also accessibility isn't =/= disability. There are many factors that could allow people to play the game.

Michael Richards Yes GIF

And also not every game needs to have them as well.

I don't think denying more people having the ability to play your game is a good thing. Yes people with disabilities are good at games but does that mean just because they are good we should deny everyone else who isn't some sort of pro gamer? No

The Souls and Bloodborne games don't deny anyone the ability to play them. And suggesting you need to be a "pro gamer" to enjoy them is insanely hyperbolic.

I remember when I first got my Snes, I was probably 5-6 and my favorite game was Killer instinct. My first videogame interaction was filled with violence and blood. I loved every second of it and turned out absolutely fine.

After reading this thread I realized I was a victim of child abuse. Apparently

Yep, I'm far from pro in my twitchy gaming reflexes that are aging with my years, I just give myself more patience and study enemy patterns and encounters. Then again, I grew up in an age where almost every game was "souls hard."

For all you complainers about the age of the kid, my 4 year olds favorite movie is Child's Play (2019)

Edit: and she loves IT (specifically pennywise)

The worst thing about parents is when they judge other parents.
If you want to helicopter parent your own kid, fine. But don't tell other parent on how they should raise their own kid.

A 5 year old kid cant in most cases distinguish between reality and fantasy.

And what? Nightmares and pissing beds is that all you're worried about lol?

Kids get hurt, they get nightmares, they see blood, they say bad words.
kids adapt and move on they're not as weak and pathetic as you're implying.
