All the legacy Activision games that could come to Xbox BC

Spiderman games won't happen sadly Sony owns the IP
That is likely correct, with the one exception being the Ultimate Spider-Man game that appeared on the original Xbox.
That character is a different continuity from Sony's Spider-Man. The game was published by Marvel and Activision.

A new Gun would be day 1 for me. Last good western games were RDR and Call of Juarez Gunslinger. RDR2 didnt qualify as a real western imo.

If Phil Spencer is a man of his word, he will re-establish the backwards compatibility program to add all the games from Original Xbox and Xbox 360 that they now have access to, having acquired Activision and all of its properties.
This is a substantial number of games.
When they ended the BC program, they claim they had exhausted the source of obtainable rights for additional games. That hurdle is gone now for a large number of games.
Phil has previously made claims that he is in favor of game preservation and that backwards compatibility is one way to achieve that.
To that end, Xbox should look to see which new games can be added to their library.

I have put together an incomplete list of games that were published by Activision or its subsidiaries for the Original Xbox and Xbox 360.
Some of these are obvious adds, since Microsoft will own absolutely every portion of the games involved (ex. Return to Castle Wolfenstein).
Others will still have licensing issues that can't be resolved, such as music and car model rights, and perhaps actor royalties.
But there would still be great value to the Xbox platform to add as many of the following games to backwards compatibility as they can.

I thought alphabetical order was the best choice, since it would be messy (and take a lot more time) to arrange them by platform, year, and publishing subsidiary.
Again, this isn't a complete list. Activision owned a LOT of stuff. But it's all I could find before I got sick of looking.

Most of these are licenced IPs so likely most of these aren't happening.
I don't understand how this works. If they paid for the license to make a game. Why is it an issue to make it available on other devices. They paid a fee to make the game. It's not like they are making a new game. If they resell it, is it any different than them reselling to original 360 games? Give the license holder a 50% cut them. Win-Win!!

A lot of games licence an IP for a number of years then when that license expires and it's not renewed it gets delisted from the store. For a subscription service that usually means a different new license too. The IP owner often has control over where their property is distributed.

Yo bro, listen to me ya? Will ya? Yo, you play that old game, maybe you’re 2 of 2.000.000. Play newer game so you may got some bitches in your d***k. /s

Serious talk (are you kidding me or you are talking seriously).
Are you really playing those games or pretending?

I use it a lot

I've finished playthroughs of
Blue Dragon
Brütal Legend
Crackdown
Crackdown 2
BINARY DOMAIN
BioShock 2
BioShock Infinite
Fable Anniversary
Fable II
Psychonauts
SpongeBob SquarePants Truth or Square
Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise
Zuma's Revenge

all thanks to back compat, plus purchased and dabbled with a bunch of other games I didn't end up seeing through to the end.

Also the best version of Deadly Premonition is the 360 emulation on a Series X

I love back compat. I wish more of my library was supported by it. Plus, a lot of BC games are on deep sales pretty frequently. I just bought Max Payne 3 a couple days ago for only $7
Well done on buying a new console and playing games of previous decade on it. So far, there are 3 in 30.000.000 (or how many Xboxes are sold so far).

Activision were very proactive in making their older games backwards compatible. Any remaining games would either have licencing issues or were incompatible.

MS can’t even deal with the licensing on their own, far more recent games (FH1, 2, 3). I don’t think we should expect many if any licensed games from ABK to be made available again.

Yup, you're right, we're the only three people that use backwards compatibility. All the extra waves after the initial batch? Those were for us. Oh, and the 4K updates and FPS boosts? Just for us too. MS really cares about the three of us more than anyone else.

You're also right that those are the only games I have played on my Series X. I spent $500 to exclusively play old games. It isn't the case that I've played significantly more modern games than BC titles at all, I haven't touched a single one.

Gimme a break man. This is like if you told me you don't believe that anyone listens to music that came out before 2013. Those games didn't just suddenly become terrible and not worth playing when new hardware came out.

?
Activision were terrible with permitting their games to be backwards compatible.
They only allowed 22 games to be on the BC list.
They published more than 200 games on Xbox/Xbox360.

Who cares.

MS had a big effort into 360 backwards compatibility and stopped after hitting a wall with mostly games remaining being from licensing or technical limitations. Buying Activision will probably get a new batch of games added to it.

What a crazy list, when you see it, you realise how much they must have wanted CoD, because outside of licensed stuff there isn't a while lot there.

They of course will have all the Blizzard and King stuff too, and I doubt they're too bothered about old stuff anyway. They'll resurrect a few franchises no doubt and that will be fine.

The Atari Flashback Classics games were published on Xbox One. That would have included some of them.
I didn't want to have to pick my way through every Activision Atari game and look for ownership rights.
There were other things I left off the list, too.
Like all those f#&ing Skylanders games.
I also should have left off the Guitar Hero games and all the Kinect v1 games. Since nothing like that is going to be made backwards compatible on newer systems.

I have the Flashback Classics for Switch and no, the Activision games were not included, just first party Atari games.

Which version was that? The original release or the Dark Athena remake?
Activision only published the version that was on the Original Xbox. Atari published the newer version on 360 and Windows.
