I'm getting some slow downs on my Nexus 7, but nothing unplayable.

It ran pretty well on my old LG Optimus L90 phone, so as long as it's equivalent to or faster than a Snapdragon 400 chip, it should be perfectly fine. It was technically out in Japan (via Square-Enix's app store) for a long time before it finally came over to the Play Store, so I would think that it would work on just about anything, outside of really ancient/under-powered devices.

Thanks for the replies guys

Bought, it looks like the kind of small mobile game i could easily play for a few minutes in the tram everyday.

I played the first 8 level, and i was right. I love it already :D

Yeah, looks like all Play Store links on GAF are redirecting to that weird ad site, since it also affected Shanks' link. I edited my post so people can copy/paste the URLs instead.

I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy S6 for christmas and I wanted to ask if you can suggest me some f2p titles, even with stamina stuff since the idea is to play the game in short burst during the day, not a 1h continuous play

If the important part is "free" then definitely check out amazon underground, they have a ton of really great full games for free. In terms of stamina f2p games, my favorites over the years are Doctor Who Legacy and Mortal Kombat X.

Some great sales going on atm. The room 3 is 0.99 euros. Lego jurassic world is 1.19 euros. Riptide gp renegade is 0.50 euros.

So many sales. So far I've bought Reigns, Riptide GP: Renegade, Steven Universe: Attack Light, The Room Three, and Prune. But I won't be playing most of these until I get a new phone or something. Some of these games run poorly on my GS4.

Decided to pick up FFIV as well with the remaining Google play credit I have. I feel that $8 is still relatively steep for a game this old. To put things in perspective, I paid $3 for Witcher 2 in a steam sale.

Yeah, same. Paid $2.75 for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The FF games on mobile/PSN/Steam never drop down to reasonable prices IMO and they're getting ancient now...

Edit: I was gonna make a thread about it in Gaming, but I'm a junior. If y'all think they'd like to know over there then have at it. Couldn't really find the proper thread.

Does anyone know why some games don't show up in the app sales app? Most do but is always annoying when one doesn't. 7 mages is one recent example, but Ive seen it with both free and mom free apps.

I can't decide if I should get Dragon Quest 3 or Final Fantasy 3. I had DQ3 for GBC and loved it but I haven't played FF3 at all. Too bad they don't have cloud save. I would have gotten both :\.

Also, how close is Civilization Revolution 2 compared to the mainland titles? I'm thinking I could just use that game as a starting point for the series.

If you're not a serious hard core strategy gamer or Civ fan, I think Civ Rev 2 is a perfectly good 'simplified Civilization'. Less units, less... everything, really... but the 'core' of the game is still there.

Honestly, at this point I prefer it because I don't have the time to invest in an actual game of Civ.

Man, PvZ2 just got updated and it looks like it's going to be a lot worse. They just introduced a leveling system, so you need to grind some "cards" to level up particular plants. What can this mean?
- You may eventually be forced to grind or pay for plant level ups, otherwise particular levels are impossible.
- There is now less emphasis on skill, and more emphasis on stats. PvZ 2 was designed to be harder than PvZ 1 so that casual players will pay for gold to use power ups, or spend real cash to buy premium plants. However, it's always been possible to beat all levels without doing any of those. The challenge was a huge welcome.
- You can't freely pick plants anymore. Oh, you need a particular plant because of certain zombies in a level? Oh too bad, the plant's level is too low to be useful.

I freaking love PvZ 2, because of the design and challenge, but this just really hurt my perception of the game. Hope I'm just overreacting.

From what I can tell, they didn't actually weaken the plants or strengthen the enemies.

I think this update will only make things easier once you upgrade plants, as opposed to being a requirement to complete levels.

At least, that's how I hope it works. :/
Definitely an odd update so late in the games life.

Anyone able to use a PS4 controller with a Galaxy S7 edge. I can connect it via bluetooth fine but the controller is unresponsive in games.

Gamasutra.

Tried with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T713) and it starts out responsive for a few seconds and then lags like crazy. Basically unusable... Would really like it to work smoothly.

It's a known issue with the ds4 on android. I've read somewhere on reddit that if you use this app it starts working lag free again. Personally I just use a small usb cable with a controller mount for the ds4 and get zero lag.

Is it just any micro USB cable? If not can you link to the cable you are using.

It would be the OTG USB cable, I believe.

On XDA people mentioned that using that with a PS4 controller causes the S7 to overheat, so that may be something to watch out for.

Thanks, just ordered an OTG cable from amazon. This would mainly be used in a cool environment (airplane) so I'm not too concerned about the heat, and if it does get hot I will just toggle off the phone for some other form of entertainment.

There is a special version of Pinball Arcade on Amazon Underground App Store for Android. It contains the first season free.
Seems like they added some other games as well as free on their underground service

Yeah, the annoying thing about that version of pinball Arcade is it doesn't support fire tablets for some reason (even though the paid app does).

Just found a cool free little gang warfare strategy game called respect. Its bare bones but solid, you against 3 AI teams on a city grid. Each square is neighborhood and you start out with a small gang. Each member has different stats and you need to decide between how much you sell versus expand versus go to war. You set all your orders for the turn and hit end turn and it resolves any possible combat. Basically, you have each gang member sell in a specific hood, or raid a territory, or defend, or spy.

There are options to buy bonuses but I just beat the game on expert and can say you definitely don't need to spend money, it's more of a tip. I actually wish it was a little bit harder

It's slow and a little number crunchy so only people who like board games or the sound of the above will probably be interested but I had a fun time with it.

Just got myself a GPD XD. Any recommendations for great Android games that benefit from joypad control? (emus, natch, notwithstanding)

I have oceanhorn, limbo, some snk ports, rush rally 2, rtype, raiden legacy, a riptide game, soul caliber, tennis champs, geometry wars on my sony tablet which I use with my bluetooth controller. I've found gamesome frontend is a nice way to have my emulator stuff all displayed with boxarts and stuff - although you are stuck with the emulators it can use
