So what model and color are folks going with?

I think I'm going to land on the iPhone Xs Max in Gold, 256GB. I'm curious to see if I'll appreciate the larger screen real-estate and longer battery life, or if it'll ultimately just feel like a thicc boi iPhone X and I'll want to go back to the tiny ones.

Are there any news on a new MacBook Pro revision? I’m more and more inclined to buying a new one but I don’t like the .. wtf was it’s name again? The Touch Bar? I think it’s not a great idea at all or wrongly implemented and i see myself not using it at all. When will they be Updated? Are there any rumors?

Any apple specialists here? I have a weird problem with my MacBook Pro 2010. So I’m at my moms and my MBP doesn’t find the WiFi for whatever reason? It’s not shown in the list of WiFi networks and when I manually input the name and the key, it says there is no WiFi with this name. But I’m connected on my iPhone. My mom is connected on here iPhone (full signal) No problem. Any device works but my MacBook.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Any tips?

Do we have a Shortcuts thread? It’s one of those features where it’s like I know it’ll make life easier but keep putting it off. It’s seriously a great feature... like mouse/keyboard macros for a computer.

Your iPhone is newer, I presume -- if so, I'm wondering whether or not the WiFi router is set to only use a standard the MacBook can't recognize (say, 802.11ac). If so, you could probably dive into the router's settings and make sure it's not limited to connections with that standard. If not that, it might be a simple matter of the wireless frequency, 2.4GHz vs. 5GHz.

I just discovered these exist today. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I need to figure out how to make some that will be truly useful in my day-to-day life.

Just got an iPhone Xs a week or two back as well. A beautiful device.

It’s seriously amazing how detailed the shortcuts you can do are, like how intricate the steps you can make, etc. I got an XS Max, incredible device. It’s a shame sales are down because the removal of the home button alone was a big advancement.

It worked beforehand.. It always connected and so on from one weekend to the other it suddenly stopped. Did I put it on block accidentally or something? Is that a possibility?

Not sure if you'd have blocked it specifically, though I wouldn't rule it out. That's something to check on the router side at least. I wonder if it might help to go into the advanced settings for your WiFi (in Network Preferences) and clear out any mentions of that network in Preferred Networks. It's worth reviewing Apple's support doc as well, although I suspect you've explored some of that already.

Thank you so much dude. I can report back next week when i’m there.
Not sure how the block happened though as I was only browsing the web and nothing more..

Is it crazy to choose an iPhone 8 Plus over a XR or 11 given that it has a higher resolution 1080p screen and lower price? Plus it has 3gb memory like the X and XR unlike the regular 8.

The XR is only 50 bucks more, has Face ID, and will last longer than the 8 Plus. If price is the biggest factor I’d go with the 8, but I don’t think I’d ever pick the 8 plus over the XR. It’s another $100 for the 11 which isn’t so bad, but the only real difference is the camera. I’d probably go with the XR.

Also keep in mind the Plus models have to do a non-integer pixel scale factor (3X down to 1080p), so if you do notice the lack of sharpness on 326ppi LCDs you may also notice the vague blur of the Plus's. Check it out next to an XR first if you can.

Apple's new iPhone 11 Pro Max has taken the top spot in Consumer Reports' smartphone rankings, with the smaller iPhone 11 Proclaiming second place, after years of Apple being consistently edged out by Samsung smartphones.

Consumer Reports said the iPhone 11 Pro models earned the top spots for having significantly improved battery life, excellent cameras, and other improvements, like a greater degree of water resistance, more durable glass casing, brighter displays, and faster performance powered by the new A13 Bionic chip.

On battery life:
For one thing, the battery life is much better. The iPhone 11 Pro Max lasted a more than impressive 40.5 hours in our testing. That’s the longest stretch of any phone currently listed in our ratings. And it marks a big turnaround for Apple. Just a few years ago, iPhones tended to lag behind the competition in this area.
On the cameras:
In the case of the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, our testers say they notched some of the highest scores in our ratings for still-image quality. The iPhone 11 also rated Very Good in this category. And all three phones received Excellent ratings for rear-video quality.
While the iPhone 11 Pro models top the list, Consumer Reports emphasized how tight the scoring is at the top of its smartphone rankings. In some categories, it said just fractions of a point separate the top models.

Consumer Reports believes those with own an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or even an iPhone XR can probably save their money and wait. Despite marked camera and battery life advancements, the non-profit firm said there just may not be enough in the way of new features to justify spending $999-plus on a new model.

A subscription to Consumer Reports is required to view the full smartphone rankings.

It’ll be cool to see whatever the next-gen of the Pros are, but I’m really hoping they do a Mini Pro eventually. The 7.9” Mini they refreshed last year is just about the perfect size for a tablet, in my opinion, and I’d love to see features like no bezel, a magnetized Pencil holder, and 120Hz refresh make a great thing even better.

That would be dope. I am interested in a 8in device.

When will Apple release a new Apple TV? I’m kinda interested in one, but now I feel the last one is so old that I can wait some more and buy the new one.

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but never mind. I purchased an iPhone 11 Pro Max today. I tried watching a 4K HDR video on YouTube but it didn’t play either HDR or 4K. In fact, no 4K video played, it would play 1080p max with no option to choose 4K. What gives? I thought this phone supported 4K HDR.

The phone can output and record in 4k, just not in YouTube:

So about 3-4 weeks ago I bought a refurb iPhone 8 because I wanted to check out iOS. I wound up loving it immediately. Picked up some 2nd gen AirPods w/ charging case the next week. Also loved those, so I picked up the gen 5 Apple Watch (my work paid for it thankfully). Now today I picked up a MacBook Pro 16-inch i9 1tb. Good lord, I have developed a habit.
