Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.

Designed with the latest version of the Snowdrop engine exclusively for next-gen consoles and PCs, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings the fascinating world of Pandora, from its beauty to its dangers, to life in an immersive open-world experience.
In this new independent story, you play as a Na'vi and embark on an adventure in the heart of the Western Territories, a region of Pandora hitherto unknown.

Explore a world full of life populated by unique creatures and new characters, and push back against the formidable forces of the GDR that threaten it.
The trailer gives us a glimpse of a Na'vi community in an open field, before revealing a large Resource Development Administration (RDA) facility with a wide selection of military equipment at its disposal, including the SA-2 Samson and the Scorpion combat helicopters.

I wasn't expecting this at all TBH, but I'm also not surprised. Aside from the gimmicky 3D stuff that I thought was pretty cool at the time, I really don't understand the praise for the film and universe. It's wild to me. But to each their own! If the game is tight I'll check it out for sure!

The actual retail game wont look anywhere near that level of fidelity, so what's even the point?
That was no more than a fancy tech demo for their engine.

Would inspired confidence had it been some sort gameplay trailer, or anything running in realtime.

For context on how the game might play, here is footage of Avatar for Xbox 360:

It was a fun B game third person shooter with quests, climbing/platforming, and flight.

I loved the trailer, it was a nice surprise to seem something of this and hopefully if they're targeting 2022 this is some indication of the visual quality we'll get in game, especially with it being focused on PS5, Xbox Series systems, PC and the other streaming platforms, not PS4 and XBox One holding it back.

Hopefully it's an open world, action adventure game, with a Single Player mode, but also a good online mode too.
Maybe Ubisoft are waiting to show actual playable gameplay on one of their Marketing Partner's Streams.

Open world 1st person action adventure game according to the press release Geoff just read.

Im picturing it playing something like Far Cry after that description.
Maybe it will have a 3rd Person mode, developers need to realise gamers want options, some like 1st Person, some like 3rd, but adding an over the shoulder or camera pulled back viewpoint shouldn't be hard to include.
I can understand with the bow use of the Navi 1st person is good for aiming.

Far Cry 6 also has a 3rd Person view mode too, so maybe that could be something they're saving to announce for a later date, my wishful thinking.
