Battlefield 2042 Gameplay | First Look At New Specialists

wallhack is not new?a shield that deflects bullets back at the shooter? not new?
He means all the other stuff going on. Battlefield has never been just about player vs player fights.

People are already overreacting to the "wallhack" ability without even playing it first. It has a limited range and can't be spammed. So you see someone is on the other side of the wall that's great, but you would probably already hear them, have other teammates already shooting at them, or them engaging with someone else anyway. These on top of a hundred other factors.

People acting like it's straight up actual CS wallhacks in a 5v5 match with no respawns.

Anyone else think that Jack Frags is on DICE payroll? Seems this guy always gets his info before anyone else and runs damage control when things don't go well, like in the Beta.

Well he's been part of the EA Game Changers stuff. As far as him knowing things in advance. Sometimes, but not always. Fundamentally,, Jackfrags takes the glass half full approach to content so your not going to regularly see rage videos coming from him. He will criticize BF games but they're usually measured responses. Some of it echoing the what the community is feeling.

You were curious about "gadgets" being in the game. These are not new; these specific types, sure. However class specific items are most definitely a feature of the BF series.

So basically acting like an adult and leaves the clickbaity "We need to talk about Battlefield" type videos to others?

Looks like battlefield: siege........too many specialists with a gimmick that could potentially be way too OP. Dice has this fascination with trying to CoD/Apexize Battlefield and it is going to fracture the community.

I just hope the servers are ready, it’s going to be poppin’ the first week.

Honestly I never played battlefield for the progression, seems like something they tacked on in BF3 to compete with CoD.

This game looks lame and corny as hell. Beta felt like it was made for babies. No recoil, no roles, no squad play incentive, goofy specialists, noobed down gunplay. The HUD looks like absolute shit. It honestly looks like it was made in MS Paint.

All they had to do was make an updated BF3/4 and they fucked it right up.

You used the same "joke" only slightly altered.

Essentially:

"How could they do the thing they said they were going to do?!"
Maybe it didn't cross your tiny little mind that I posted before I reacted to his post. It's not like the joke is fucking original mate. It's already a popular format for any joke on the internet.

Oh, personal attacks now.

Nice comeback. But please keep being the joke police accusing me of "copying jokes". What I posted was how I felt. DICE did the same damn thing for BFV. Players give constructive feedback, DICE says lol nope and doubles down.

Your post (and the other user) are making the assumption as if they made these new specialist after the Beta and feedback. When in fact they announced a total of 10 specialists at launch awhile back and most of them were already partially revealed in some way. Complete ignorance of what the fuck is even going on with the game and somehow the developers actually doing what they said they were going to do is bad. The specialist are clearly a core part of the game and have been since it was announced. They aren't going to suddenly change this a month before release.

It boils down to low effort shitposting derived from sheer ignorance. Crazy how my tiny mind can handle such basic logic. The fact that I have to explain this when it was already explained in this same topic.

You didn't think I already knew that? They literally said in their blog post the lack of team play was because of a lack of proper UI implementation when the community was arguing it was the specialist. Hence my comment "Nah, we know better than the community". They could keep the specialist but only allow the medic to have med bags, engineer to have engineer tool, and recon to have recon abilities. Thus, enhancing team play and more traditional class roles while still maintaining their specialist's gimmick.

Again, your tiny brain can not distinguish from a joke and literally applied it at face value thinking I was asking for the complete removal of specialist was somehow going to actually happen.

The thing that is insanely dumb: the teams are USA vs Russia - but theres only 10 characters to choose from in a 128 player match, and these 10 characters are shared by each team, you are going to have 40+ of the exact same character running around on opposing teams. They could have at least made specific (looking) RU and US specialists.

Then people are saying, just play custom Portal servers with BF3 classes. But im not so sure there will be enough of those servers running to support 128 players. Custom matches in any game have always been niche at best. Time will tell for Portal - but it seems more of a secondary part of the game - not the main focus.

Being that the game is 128 players now, they needed to drop the 4 class system of the past decade+ of battlefield and bring back the 7 class system of BF2. There was an opportunity here to really spread out team roles and they missed it.

Every time I think of my disappointment toward the direction they've chosen for Battlefield 2042, I'm comforted by the fact that this isn't a mainline Battlefield game, but a spinoff where they can experiment (which they are doing). I'm sure we will get a Battlefield 6 one day.

Reeks of CoD imposter wannabe syndrome.

I feel like this is the main issue for me with this, it also explains why some people are going "oh wow the game is amazing, why yall complaining?"

It's essentially a move to "broaden the audience" by going after a different audience, battlefield for me has always been a series that was about "playing the objective" recently entries have certainly... weakened this. However it feels like 2042 has just given up and wants a big map where everyone just runs around and shoots everyone else, dies, respawns does it again, just like CoD, but it has more players so its still battlefield... right? RIGHT?

Being able to identify a class and what sort of weapon or ability they bring to the table is pointless because now your supposed to be either dead or have killed them by the time you figure that out, respawned and charging around the other side of the map shooting at anything that moves.

Clearly not you.
So you're excited based on playing the beta and what they're saying, combined with the rumors/leaks?

It was after I began to play the beta that I started having strange feelings towards it. All downhill since.

I loved the beta and everything they showed so far. To each their own.

So there is no voice chat for PS players to talk to PC? I use discord as I'm on PC but I have mates who are on PS, guess they will have to use discord on there phones then.....

I think I will try EA Play pro for one month, have my fill then ditch it.

Even having played the beta, I still don't quite understand.

Do we ever play as normal soldiers or only as these "Hero" type characters? As in will we be able to customize a standard soldier, their face, gear, outfit etc. or are we forced to play as the same super powered clones as everyone else?

We can only do that in the Portal mode. Don't think that will be ready for release though :\

Just read that they will keep the hero classes despite the outcry. They stay, guess I pass on this game then. Hated that mechanic, together with everyone being able to pick every loadout.

Wallhacks are a perk now... Yikes. This keeps getting worse. I'm a BF player since 2 and this edition has disappointed me so much. Too many problems with game design. The beta was terrible. I hated it so much I cancelled my pre-order.

Battlefield 2042's open beta has passed and the community has plenty of thoughts to share. DICE recently revealed a good chunk of improvements they made, but we take things a step further and look at what else could use improvements.

Battlefield 2042 recently dropped a new specialist trailer showing off five more specialists, which will excite those ready for the game's launch. However, not everyone is sold, as specialists have been just one of many points of discussion surrounding the recent open beta. We've taken a look at specialists, optimization, and what else we want to see improved upon by the game's launch. Hopefully, fans will be excited again if even more fixes for these issues come through!

This video breaks down improvements we want, such as a greater incentive to stick with your squad and use teamwork. Battlefield 2042 encouraged a lot of lone wolves in its beta, which is not what the series is known for. There are also persisting bugs and glitches that need ironing out, which only worsen if you're playing on older consoles.

The hope is that Battlefield 2042 can package as many fixes as possible before launch. The fixes detailed so far are encouraging, but with the release window so close, it's not sure what state the game will be in when it releases. Fingers crossed for the best! Battlefield 2042 will come out on early access on November 12, with a worldwide launch on November 19 for PC, Xbox One, Series S|X, PS4, and PS5.
